  1. if you can get it through a college then you should be able to get at least the training free as your 16-19, i got a lot of subsidisation for mine, you may just have to pay assessment fees
  2. One screen for all my needs. 32" of Arbtalk HD!
  3. Well my birthday is Christmas so I just need a couple reindeer now!
  4. it woudl be an insurance issue mainly. Im 20 now, i did my cs30,31,32,33,34 all while i was 17. fresh into chainsaw use so i would only put it down to insurance!
  5. on our mess of a log pile, mixed lengths, rings and all sorts piled up, handballed onto our sawhorse, can do up to 20" logs, me and my dad can fill 1 IBC cage per hour so its about a cube per hour, not working major hard, but if it was just splitting, we can get about 3 per hour
  6. Ooo red I hear? Im interested! Haha.
  7. I meant I saw it on Facebook!
  8. Don't think it's the exidia, read below the pic Habitat: Light mixed karst forest and bushes, predominantly oak, stony ground, limestone, shaded by tree canopies, N oriented, cca. 1 m above ground, partly protected from rain, precipitations 1.500 -1.600 mm/year, average temperature 10-12 deg C, altitude 280 m (920 feet), submediterranean phytogeographical region. Substratum: partly debarked rotten trunk of a thick Hedera helix climbing a Quercus petraea and cut at the bottom by men.
  9. I came out of my gcses and did 2 years business btec, chose foundation degree on pretty much a whim, 2 years later I've finished the course, it was tough at some points and now I'm moving onto the BSc hons degree. I've never looked back. I die 1 days practical a week through the first year, nothing in the second year. I had student loans to get me through th money side. It sounds like you've been at the wrong place at the wrong time. When I started the course I couldn't tell you the difference between most trees, or even anything about them. This course has been brilliant for me. My advice would be to stick it out, if you've been told it's not going to cost you anything then keep going on that. Look into professional/career development loads on Website of the UK government : Directgov and see if that can get you any funding.
  10. If I could get 5cube of chip in the truck the chipper would be tired at the end of that day. I think we just about got 5 cube from that 30 tree job in Warrington! What bags were you using? Builders ones or Tesco ones
  11. I use 13mm portland braid 45m and 16mm split tails to tie at the top, the rigging bollard is held on by two 5t ratchet straps and when there's a lot of little bits involved I've got 10 carabiners a rigging plate and a few slings. I barely get anything big enough, but the rope is still a 5000kg+ mbs and It got a big lump dropped on it the other day and all handled it fine!
  12. How is that possible?! The back is only about 1.5m square! That's a lot of chips! Sore back after that?
  13. David have you tried mill house training over in skelmersdale? They did most of my training
  14. I saw this, what exactly happened? Did it come loose or did you hit yourself? Good on you for finishing!
  15. my 260 has never had any problems with dust, starts and ready to cut after sitting for a while in around 4 pulls. its a 2007, 3 and a half years old now and still its original filter, gets used more than the 660 and never skipped a beat, but the 660 is 6 months old now and has been doing this all the time! has it proven to decrease saw life at all? ill look into the HD filter and possibly the HD2 if they are available as a spare part?
  16. Did you use all that chip or did you have to donate it to all your neighbours? Looks good does that. I bet your pleased!
  17. Cleaning it off today and I noticed a fair amount of dust under the filter and around the carb opening. I remember it mentioned that apparently it happens a lot? What should I do? HD filter kit? Email stihl?
  18. 'where's the nearest butty shop?' Can't believe that, just for a bloody festival!?
  19. It looks similar to OP/AP in it's sheath construction. Can't say I've seen it anywhere!
  20. Polish? How about mowing the bugger!
  21. One jacket is a bit small and isn't too good for climbing as it just rides up giving me a cold midriff! The other two are regattas, in red, to match my ever growing list of red stuff! Both are great! As they are for work, being cheaper I dint mind as much if they get knocked about! My still hiflex jacket is still like new because it's so bloody expensive! I don't want to wear it out!
  22. Why are you getting in funny positions in the undergrowth? Try tk maxx for jackets, usually half RRP and regatta and other good makes in there. Might take a couple of weeks but every now and again they get a batch of good stuff at a bargain price. I've had three jackets from there and that was over 2 years ago for one and it's still going!
  23. I've got pa1/2/6 knapsack and boom sprayer. I'm half an hour from Manchester and have experience spraying with both quads and knapsacks. I'll phone tomorrow
  24. Chestnut seems to be pretty good at showing up the helical ribs. There's two next to each other at my local park, really pronounced ribs and both about 80cm DBH. They get battered every year by kids with sticks!
  25. Mister solutions has all the workshop manuals for free.
