  1. Cleaning it off today and I noticed a fair amount of dust under the filter and around the carb opening. I remember it mentioned that apparently it happens a lot? What should I do? HD filter kit? Email stihl?
  2. 'where's the nearest butty shop?' Can't believe that, just for a bloody festival!?
  3. It looks similar to OP/AP in it's sheath construction. Can't say I've seen it anywhere!
  4. Polish? How about mowing the bugger!
  5. One jacket is a bit small and isn't too good for climbing as it just rides up giving me a cold midriff! The other two are regattas, in red, to match my ever growing list of red stuff! Both are great! As they are for work, being cheaper I dint mind as much if they get knocked about! My still hiflex jacket is still like new because it's so bloody expensive! I don't want to wear it out!
  6. Why are you getting in funny positions in the undergrowth? Try tk maxx for jackets, usually half RRP and regatta and other good makes in there. Might take a couple of weeks but every now and again they get a batch of good stuff at a bargain price. I've had three jackets from there and that was over 2 years ago for one and it's still going!
  7. I've got pa1/2/6 knapsack and boom sprayer. I'm half an hour from Manchester and have experience spraying with both quads and knapsacks. I'll phone tomorrow
  8. Chestnut seems to be pretty good at showing up the helical ribs. There's two next to each other at my local park, really pronounced ribs and both about 80cm DBH. They get battered every year by kids with sticks!
  9. Mister solutions has all the workshop manuals for free.
  10. I've got one this Friday to euthanise. Lightning strike and bleeding canker, there's another nearby that's fine. This one is looking a bit chlorotic!
  11. unimog owners eat your heart out! whats the payload/MGW on that monster? i want that instead of a unimog now, it will still cart people around too!
  12. It won't go through LOLER and if you get hurt or someone else does while using it insurance won't touch you!
  13. Rob I've got a copy of 3998 if you want to look tomorrow? And a few others. You should get them on Athens anyway though? Out of interest how much is the tree inspection course? It's something I do like doing! I agree with rob on the idea of walking into TO/consultancy positions with no practical experience! It feels a bit undermining, we could work for 20 years to get enough exp for one of these jobs but someone who's only used a chainsaw on a training course can do a degree and get in. I feel I'm tarring myself with that brush, but a long term plan for me is consultant/TO. With plenty practical behind it!
  14. If you want to Pete you can. Nobody else has come through so you can do it if you'd like. I'll be on site just after half 8
  15. Oh yeah you can get hold of me on 07841128366
  16. I need a guy tomorrow to help with some conifer bashing. Fairly straight forward. Bit of stump grinding aswell. Anybody free? St helens area
  17. I've been told to keep my big thing away as it's frowned upon to have it out in public A piece of legislation that allows all arbs to be exempt from the umpteen bits of red tape and never get pulled for overloading!
  18. I think it's too cold for them up north I do agree, stuff is just too far for a day trip! The cost of courses and fuel runs the budget dry and travelodge ain't too cheap!
  19. Most of the shows arent too bad of a drive, capel is a bit far for one day really, but it is doable, couldnt manage north fair as i had things to do but always try and manage the AA show because its 2 and a half hours away which i can handle. Carpooling with other members makes it easier, it adds to travelling time but saves fuel (unless you boot it at 90 kev ) 4 big arb blokes in my little citroen would see it making its own road markings! Jonesies is that far proper south that it is difficult for me to justify the trip! but anything further up than that is a bit easier. swings and roundabouts, share the driving and cost and it doesnt make it so bad
  20. He couldn't get the saw to start and stay running to cut. He managed to get most of it done then finished with a silky.
  21. That's exactly what we are here for, it's good for talk between professionals and also for non professionals to get advice and read about what we do. There's no such thing as a stupid question!
  22. It will be paid for in one job that requires it and I'm happy with that! The matching colour, however, is purely coincidental
  23. I had a look and a sit in. It was a very tidy piece of kit!
  24. The first demo still did of knocking a top out with the 201t he couldn't get the saw to stay running. That was pretty funny. Spud: I see where your coming from, but looking at the stein 300 lowering bollard, it's a plate with a bollard in the centre, much like mine, I understand there are probably many more design differences but that's essentially it. It's not a Hobbs or grcs and I don't expect it to be! For what it cost I expect to get it's money's worth out of it. It straps on the top and bottom of the plate, I can't see how that's a bad design? Steve: it does seem a bit long! Nothing a grinder and a good weld wouldn't fix!
  25. this must be a wind up! LOLER is Lifting operations and lifting equipment regulations. Dated at 1998 I believe. All PPE must be inspected eve 6 months and rigging equipment every 12. There are massive improvements in ropes and have been for years. Ole heist is a type of friction hitch like a prussic or blames hitch. A lock jack is a mechanical device which provides the same function (but terrifyingly quick!) If you have been working self employed doing work for yourself, do you have insurance? Insurers would want to see proof of competency and years of experience isn't one! Not having a dig but there are some issues therre!
