  1. Labour was about 10 hours altogether. Materials £130 plus vat. We thouht about hinges. But wanted rigidity and we seemed to have achieved that! Load handler is definitely on the lshopping list!
  2. Our landy 110 hicap has a canopy which is flat fronted and makes total height about 8ft. It's bad in the wind and on motorways. I would be expecting similar with this but not as bad because of the streamlining(ish)
  3. Having room to be able to shovel stuff out is part of the height. I do appreciate the comments as they will be thought of in the next one. It is actually bolted into the truck so it won't go on holiday when a breeze gets up. I suppose I'll have to see how it is and then I could modify it, but digging chip out of a box that's as high as my waist will be difficult! There are updated springs in te back. We have a grit spreader on there in winter that weighs most of a ton when it's full and it doesnt make them unhappy
  4. We both built it. I am concerned about weight on the axle but dont think I'll ever get enough in to overload it. The truck is my dads that's correct. It's a 55 plate and has always been a work truck. I can always make it shorter if I need to, Theres a chance I probably will have to but that's not a huge issue. Thanks skyhuck, I knew what I said didnt sound right!
  5. Take a look at my new yacht complete with matching red sail! Finally got the box on. I think I'll need a board across the tailgate for when I want a LOT in!
  6. It would. But that's way out of my price range for a while. It doesn't take long to unload it with a fork. We do have a little tractor that would do it well too. Toyed with the idea of a strong tarp and eyelets to tie off then just drive off and out comes the chip
  7. We added some springs with an extra leaf so it will hold a ton. It will be fitted Saturday as there's a bit of work to make it solid. I was thinking of buying a load handler for unloading. Would make it easier! I'll make sure I get some pics.
  8. Don't need to see a FB to see it's effects. L. Sulphureus is a heart wood brown rotter. Plenty of brown rotted heart wood there!
  9. As much as apps are literally for everything. I've never been too keen on the apps available regarding trees! Hama you may find an iPad more useable, using the app called penultimate which is a handy notepad you do with your finger, much quicker than pen and paper and you can email a single page or a 50 page or more notebook as a PDF. The apps are coming. The Market needs to be there!
  10. Just seen thisnon amazon. I can get it in an electronic version for a considerable amount cheaper than a hard copy. It seems like a decent enough book to get? Is there anything else along similar lines? I did hear mention of something like that but not sure where to look! Wood and Tree Fungi: Biology, Damage, Protection, and Use eBook: Olaf Schmidt: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store
  11. Love the thumbs up at the end hama
  12. what work was going on there rob?
  13. not where that one was dropped! we took down a large beech which had a few pieces of shrapnel embedded at least 6" in, we knew it was there because the saw found it!
  14. so they just wanted it back? looks smart does that! doesnt quite match colour though, you should paint it orange to match the chipper!
  15. i think thats eds chipbox at 45s in!
  16. new chipbox for our navara, seeing as ive got a chipper, pulling a trailer outside my licence allowance wasnt going to last long, so to keep it legal ive built this, still yet to be properly mounted, it will be bolted to the rails of the truck for added security!
  17. Cool I love bits of history like that!
  18. Equipment lists shouldn't be shown if there's a security issue IMO, it should be dealt with when contact is made in private. If it is shown then it should be general as possible.
  19. You should be covered by the distance selling regs. Anything bought online from anywhere entitles you to a 7 day cooling off period and you can by law receive a full refund if a product or service cannot be provided as advertised.
  20. I can't wait for my new whaleskin shoes!
  21. ill be trundling up to watch fellow students at the comp
  22. Hi pete sorry I didn't notice this sooner you could very well have come down. If I get anything else then you are welcome to come along. Might have a chance for you around the 21st where I'll be slightly closer to Wigan. Mick, I know I am quiet but I would rather bring in someone I know will work faster, I gained some handy pointers from gnarlyoak who came and helped, which is why I like to bring people in, give and take situations
  23. Oak pruning from today. It had gone mental for phototropism, long thin branches are like jelly to stand on! Gnarlyoak did majority of climbing and I had a little bash too! Little chipper did well. Improvised chip box on the pickup was filled. Was mulching street trees on the way home
  24. I could tow my pencil sharpened with that and chip into the pickup. I'd be able to drive the whole lot into their back garden! That truck looks mighty useful! I wish I had that money lying around! Maybe I should start drilling and selling oil. I hear that business is booming
