  1. I did think of that. Although i found the portek one my local dealer, i might still buy one of them for in the future out on site, which I think it's more suited to
  2. Here's a couple of daft vids I found. I will now make my bed like he did. Because it's awesome. 3. Got a portek one. Couldn't get on with the guard so it fell off. That was the biggest log I could get in it. Works well with the 660. Plenty power. I've got to get through that whole pile!
  4. Cheers. There's a local place thats got some in like that. Will it hold a big saw too? Was thinking 660 size!
  5. Want to buy a sawhorse, got my eye on the oregon easycut one, as we have a lot of long lengths to get through that arent thick so would fit in nicely the other alternatives are the standard metal ones ive seen, although i think that may hamper productivity compared to the other one? or are there better designs out there? cheers
  6. use the tapatalk app, you have to pay a small fee but is easy for the ipad and makes using arbtalk a lot easier on the iphone, no zooming in and out all the time and photos come up correctly, if i want to upload photos i go to that there is also the imageshack app which is only for iphone but will work on ipad, this will give you a link which you then put around to insert the image into a post
  7. the mould usually appears because its been damp, as mark says just give it a quick wash, even in the bath with some soap flakes, and it will come out looking and smelling newer. Ive seen some very mouldy ropes and they never seemed to be affected, just coming out of the fibres
  8. Highways act states no trees within 15' of the centre of the highway. If that helps.
  9. Personally I wouldnt choose the little tw. The greenmech is similar money and will do 4" but will allow 5" if your careful. The tw throws chippings out at a low level. I watched a video of a guy chipping with it and it was just burying itself. The gm has the high chute which will throw chip very far!
  10. Had a good day yesterday. There's a chance I may have seen some of you but not realised! I was walking round in a stihl shirt at a husky sponsored event! Well done to everyone for organising it. That cheque is an amazing figure, completely selfless, good on you Mick and everyone for donating!
  11. I think his show is pretty good. He's better than he used to be!
  12. Come on then, what did you buy at Capel? I got a 20m poison hi-vee with a splice, some rigging knowledge and a burger!
  13. Were the branches overhanging their land? Or did they enter your clients property to carry out these works? The helliwell system is good for valuing trees.
  14. Lost cause IMO. Not worth the money and time. It'll soon eat it's way through £5k and even then probably won't be as good as a £7k looked after one!
  15. I'm doing the foundation at myerscough and I am pleased with it. I'm doing it full time, but it's still only 3 days a week. There are people on here doing it online and finding it ok. I prefer to do it on campus then younget the interaction and help from tutors
  16. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/18745-congratulations-jo-hedger.html I think that says a lot!
  17. Well he joined September 09 so probably not! I've seen it on ash that had failed. Did post a thread on it. Seem it on an old sycamore pollard. Would be a crying shame to get rid but it would probably do with a repollard!
  18. Is there not a possibility that the tri dominance is just a bundle planting? Looking at the attachment at the bottom it doesn't look like it's all come from one stool.
  19. pistol works well on marestail, dealt with some big patches along footpaths and pistol always seemed to be the killer, bruising it sometimes didnt cover it all no matter how much i did.

  24. Redesigning something may include lowering manufacturing costs and build quality. I've always found knapsacks to be getting worse as you bought newer ones. We've got some older than 5 years and have always been fine. Some new ones have broke within weeks.
  25. Only if it can be justified on the risk assessment. If it gets warm enough to take second thoughts about pants, wear type As!
