  1. I suppose I'd best add a number Contact me On 07841128366 or 07516348002 Or just pm me on here! Cheers
  2. Conifers I've had to do 'reductions' on I've just free climbed with spikes and strop in hand. Then tie in to take weight off my spikes and then cut away where required. On removals just spike up and take branches off on the way up. Then chog it down as you come back. Quick and efficient!
  3. I am on my fdsc second year now. I am planning to do my top up for a year onto a bsc. I have found the course to be enjoyable so far. However I think my 3 days worth of teaching could easily be fit into a day and a half. I have a 3.5 hour break on Tuesday's. It's frustrating. Makes it feel like your sat there wasting your money! I've worked it out with fellow classmates. It's working out at £30 per hour for me in college. Thankfully the fees just miss me me. But as I am already enrolled it wouldn't affect me anyway. I think unis and the student life will start to get a lot quieter over the next couple of years. Prices like that will make people consider if they realliy want to do a degree in an obscure subject!
  4. I never noticed the op said wire core. Whoops How do you find the positioner? I'm very tempted to buy one but I'm struggling to justify one over a distel and pulley setup
  5. they could just cut the rope if it's a lanyard. But if you are using a grab on your flip line there needs to be a soft link like a QuickDraw to enable easy rescue.
  6. Congrats Mark. Really happy for you
  7. I wouldn't say that's a bad thing. I am split between them. I can agree with Tony saying symptoms not always visible. It could be secondary attack that's caused it to fail without crown symptoms. Looking at kretz failures, crown dieback sometimes isn't evident. yet the base is knackered. But if it was just merip that caused a fail. It could have been accelerated decay which gave little time for the tree to react to it's loss of roots. A set of high winds in the right place could have sent it over. Although a lot of what I've just said can be criticised from different angles. Its all learning!
  8. Same as kev and skyjack. Wrap in 3-4 layers of tape. Cut with sharp scissors then heat on hob and seal the core ends. Works good enough for me. Then I tape the tails to the cord so it stops them getting in the way
  9. sticky buds, as above, A. hippocastanum
  10. Tree-based puns aren't very poplar.
  11. got to wait for the sequel: heavy metal arborist CHAINSAAAAWWWWWWW!
  12. Which I donated to you! I thought that lump was more like 24" and 6'?
  13. I blocked it on it's first outing. Not done it since!
  14. I think their spirit level ran out of bubbles Where's the apprentice when you need them!
  15. I've got that program too! I paid extra for a couple of add ons called 'trailer' and 'drag'
  16. Does anybody know any farmers like this? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jag7oTemldY&feature=youtube_gdata_player]YouTube - Heavy Metal Farmer[/ame]
  17. Stumbled on this. More street performers like this please! Check out this video on YouTube: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiInBOVHpO8&feature=youtube_gdata_player]YouTube - Dub FX 10/10/2008 'Love Someone'[/ame]
  18. I do. But they aren't my work saws. We have two husky leccy ones and a 357 currently out on loan. The pictures showing the saws are old. There is now a 660 in place of the husky 365!
  19. Husky 321LE. We have 2. Both work well. Both with Oregon powersharp too.
  20. I'm a still man. A husky would look out of place in my collection!
  21. i blocked it completely once, engine was running but nothing was coming out. Courtesy of our friend lleylandii, took the top of the chute off and pulled out what i could reach then gave the brish a wiggle about to loosen bits up and it went straight away. I prefer to feed the chipper, it takes a bit of practice to know how stuff will go in and how it will affect the chipper. getting good now, i find vibrations are dampened a lot if you grab branch tips, especially with conifer because you have to keep hold until its almost all through, the vibrations are dissipated through the rest of the piece and you dont feel much at all.
  22. caritool small here, fits nicely on the petzl harnesses! if you want easy release, get a large caritool and remove the wire gate, then it just sits in and pulls out with no gate opening
  23. He does already but wants it to look like it's the make of a machine!
  24. That's the thing. There has to be a compromise in design to compensate for the individuals who would end up losing body parts to little Gloria. An easy access hatch, or even a simple way to drop the hopper off in a minute to access the drum. That's linked to the ignition so you can't run the chipper with it taken off.
  25. Those little bled machines are nice. Work best in dry soil though as soon as it gets damp and sticky it'll not work too well! We've got one but it's bigger brother. run it on a little john deere
