  1. any stand should be able to chat, offer advice and let you try things out. unfortunatly some more than others! jonsie, nod@treeworker are good places. dont know about spikes tho, unless a stand has a spare log? (thats a big hint to the tradestands reading this!!)
  2. not a bad rope at all marlow are also shortly bringing out a new gecko rope in a new colour named as "komodo". main problem with all marlow ropes is they have a life span of six months. all other ropes are two years!! so could prove to be a tad expensive?
  3. not a bad idea. but twice the price, and not as good as a silky.
  4. methinks a cedar one would smell much nicer!
  5. you mean something like a 16mm polyprop 3strand rope? as luck would have it, ive got one for sale.............
  6. Hiya! Im hopefully starting a new job in hadlow soon and need a place to stay. Anything considered, even just for a short period whilst i find somewhere else. just pm me, thanks!
  7. nikon!! although i tend to also carry a small cheap compact aswell. just take the d60 when il know il need it.
  8. il see your £76, and raise it to £80 just for the powerhead. you can keep the rest!
  9. its not going to match, the file size is a 7/32. the guide however, is a diffrent one. you want 5605 750 4343. page 81. easiest way is to get a load of catalogues and instruction manuals, they will tell you everything you need to know.
  10. no, they arent that tight! they are about as close as a hi-flex.
  11. yeah, ive been wearing my x-fit gear for a few months now. its fantastic, im trying hard to find a fault, but cant!! its great stuff!!
  12. if youve got a full licence, a tractor ticket is alredy on it (F) SSHHHHH!!!!! dont tell everyone!!
  13. yep! its all genuine and origional stihl. never used.
  14. i can do you a new 15inch bar for a 260, i also have a new chain for it. ive also got a used once 20inch bar.
  15. I dont know about selling planks, but i could point you in the direction of several "planks"
  16. i always use tape slings and riging plates, am seriously looking at the hub tho! always a good thing to remember the older techniqes tho!
  17. id say use oregon tools for oregon chains etc..... the problems are 3/16th is 3/16th, so (in theory) a 3/16th file from oregon should be the same as a 3/16th file from stihl. most manufacturers gear is made in the same factory by the same people, it just has a different name stamped on it! the other prob is replacing the chain. if your dealer gives you a stihl chain to replace the oregon chain, then youl need a new filing kit to match. id say just get it right by practicing and more practicing.
  18. a video or pics would be good. the top plate should be 30 degrees, side plate should be 85 degrees. with an upward angle of 10 degrees. when the (correct) guide and file is on the tooth, look past the tooth and line up the angle on the guide with the tie-straps underneath. the tooth is slightly offset and may give a false reading, the tie-straps are perfectly in line.
  19. i believe the old timer's on here will say balistic nylon. usualy several layers that are drawn out and stop the saw chain by clogging around the sprocket.
  20. ah, your getting the hang of it now dave, just sit and wait for the ten pages of waffle and one decent reply!!!!! il ask around, but i guess it will be easier for the inspector to travel and do the check at the college (sorry, university!)
  21. i have a feeling these threads may be a tad cunfuzzling too!! my bergstiegers lasted two minutes! DONT GET THEM!! my faves are the meindle airstream (maybe a tad too ££££) or the elten hydrofells. as for trousers, ive got no probs with hiflex or stretch-airs. as luck would have it, ive got some for sale! hi-flex in small, £100, or stretch-airs yellow hiviz in small, £120 Both unused and still boxed/wrapped
  22. not too sure, but after watchin the programme, i sent mine as reguler a4 size printouts, filling the page as much as poss.
  23. i think standards and ethics go along way. methinks one problem is owners cant be bothered either! they dont have the knowledge or time of day to listen to whats best for the tree or the pocket. they just want the tree "trimmed" cheaply, for an instant result.
  24. surely dont you mean a four "paw" bear?
