Hiya! yeah iv got a shed load of different stories from different people (and now a bloomin headache!!) im trying to get on courses myself cus i find its the only way to learn. ah well, this is me if ya want owt?

hiya rupe! the idea is that all kit used in a comp must be able to pass a loler test, so if the label is wrong or missing then it wont pass! iv spent many years trying to get into comps and finally managed it at the welsh isa this year.

thats me point chaps! some places sell it in the pack and some sell it off the roll, most worryingly its the big name suppliers who should kno better are the culprits! im now just putting my own labels on the ropes wiv my own number on it, im just worried that this wont be acceptable to use in a comp because its "a" label and not "the" label

whats the deal with rope labeling? im told all ropes must have said labels by law, i then find ropes are being sold with part or no labels and these still pass loler tests! im told by one dealer that he labels friction cord (ie yale bee-line) when he cuts it from the roll, but wont do the same for ropes ie yale scorch, it makes it very hard to buy kit when your doing comps as in theory the kit wont pass the kit check! im sooooo confuzzled!!!!!!!

poison ivy is ce approved, and according to sherril is exclusivly made for them by yale as their own upgrade to the blaze. the problem is that i cant do mail order! i can only walk into a dealer and hand over the wonga!!!!

i think yule(!) find its not a new knot or system, its just a new pulley!, its not a bad system at all, but its best used once uv got your anchor point and your working around the tree. its best to have some1 belay you when thrusting up. its probably not the best system, but its certainly not the worst! its just a case of try it and see!!

Ho hum chaps, you need a minimum of cs30 and 38/39 for rope and harness arbworks, and a minimum of cs30 and 47 for mewp arbworks ( obviously wiv a mewp ticket!), however there are too many crossovers and what ifs so its best to have every cs ticket you can get hold of! such as the little documented "any arborist doing areal arbworks MUST also have cs40/41." (AFAG 805 - training and certification) -

i'l be honest chuck, forestry is a dieing art nowadays,most colleges have switched from forestry to arb/forestry mix and now to pure arb. you can try somewhere like barony college in bonny scotland, or i think its mainly distance learning

its not without its minor niggles, but i love it cus it dont give my back no probs! the reson there aint no chainsaw clip is cause youre supposed to use the rear centre clips!! thats how most modern harnesses are being designed nowadays.

Strange, i sailed into technician level membership, all i did was fill out the forms! ive only got an ND, an NC, a shed-load of nptc's and about 10 yrs experience, but i cant get into being an nptc assessor!! D'oh!!

hiya! im interested in having a go at pole climbing comps, the official site seems to be un-updated for about two years, so any dates/locations and general help would be muchly appreciated thanks.

ditto bart. go 4 a 14-16in quartertip bar with a 3/8p chain on ur 260, but you will need a sprocket to match, get it from a quality stihl dealer, i cant remember the part number but i can find out. use a 10-14in dimetip bar with a quarter pitch chain on a smaller saw, the same applies to the sprocket conversion. happy carving!
