  1. Due to lack of funds the official poleclimbing wesite is not being updated (anyone fancy sponsoring it let me know) In the meantime I've set up a facebook group to publish details of all events etc. the group can be seen at: Log in | Facebook
  2. hiya! im interested in having a go at pole climbing comps, the official site seems to be un-updated for about two years, so any dates/locations and general help would be muchly appreciated thanks.

  3. exactly: and if you can do it without stopping for a breather (or a fag) half way up so much the better : )
  4. Would be a great idea - if I knew myself : ) I'll ask Terry for you - he's fast. Have you had a go before ?
  5. Hi Ian, send me a private message with your contact details and I'll send you details of the competitions etc. There is one at the end of May in North Wales and it's planned to have a special category for working spikes to encourage new people to come and try it - should be perfect for you. Pete
  6. Not a clue where I get my energy from I'm afraid. Are you going to the show again this year ? if so come and say hello, or give it a go.
  7. You can't get toe spikes anywhere I'm afraid we all make our own to suit or not - although one or two climbers have made sets for others in return for a carrier bag stuffed full of cash. There are several events where the public can try it so don't worry if you've done any climbing before you're already well ahead of most of them. I didn't make the last APF which is why they all looked fast : )
  8. Yes it is and yes he was. We're working on a similar idea where we attach the safety rope to the back of a truck and floor it. We just need someone willing to be attached to the other end and the new record is theirs. : )
  9. good question Mr. Ed I honestly don't know if there is even an official record for it - if not it's up for grabs - come and have a go and get it for yourself.
  10. The official world record is 9.6 seconds - which is pretty quick, but we don't mention it as it's held by an Aussie. If you can climb a tree you'd get to the top - maybe not a record time, but you could work on it.
  11. Unfortunately there is no Newark show this year - there are plenty of other events though - you're welcome to come and try again - wee can show you the techniques but don't bring the Royal Marine sergeant : )
  12. Hi Steve, I'll probably be long retired for climbing then - but my Dad will still be at it - I'll tell him to look out for you : ) or if you fancy giving it a go before then let me know. Pete
  13. No, unfortunately I couldn't make the Scottish show last year. I did hear there was a guy who gave it a go and was rather quick - but we haven't seen him again since ? I did see Terry Bennett do a climb in 8.6 seconds at Newbury - again unofficial world record - so looks like it could be a great season ! - Pete
  14. Cheers MasterBlaster I'll send you a private message Pete
