  4. Personnaly i found the smalls "too big". im generally a small in stihl hi-flex. and found id be better in small sips rather than the meds i got! be best to get a fitting if poss.
  5. Have a word with dave aka Elicokiz, he's a crackingly good college lecturer. He might be able to help, But You'l have to ask VERY nicely!
  6. try Grimsthorpe estates. Better as a block/holiday set-up tho. idealy the students may need to have a method of getting there. http://www.grimsthorpe.co.uk or 01778591205
  7. in theory it wont work due to having one hole. So it may only work as per an old stylee isc pulley?
  8. Blimey!! is that thing still going?? Id suggest measuring diameter is a bad idea. it has also had a lot of use so yeah id suggest contact them directly for an answer. you could try and get hold of an old manual? You never know, you might be able to wangle a new one!!
  9. As punch once said........"Thats the way to do it!!"
  10. by the sounds of it, id say either will serve you well. nowt wrong with bein part of both, or its eeny meeny miney mow!!
  11. nowt specific. its just knowing bout engines, practicing what you know and learning new things as you go along. there is a maintenance website listed on here somewhere (chainsaw forum methinks?) run by an arbtalker, i believe its drivelink.blogspot.com
  12. Landmark is local, good for first timers to get the sizeing right, only open mon-fri. Talk nicely to Dave, you might get a day out!! If you know your sizes, try treeworker.co.uk
  13. It can be, i get on well with a blakes hitch but know several larger peeps who dont as it wont hol them! that or they are just bein wussies!
  14. Aye, not bad! They do it as part of the felling competitions!
  15. ive carried one around for ages, very good! Locally, try Landmark Trading, Based in Stamford. other than that, most places will ship a box out.
  16. Great stuff! There are courses available, i believe a couple of arbtalkers do them, as does Mick Burns (who was carving at the apf) try Chainsaw Sculpture, Chainsaw Carving Mick Burns, Lincoln UK
  17. mendle airstreams. a tad curious as to how you get a fish on your boot in the first instance?
  18. Big saw, little bar, cardboard box!! ive got a 13incher for a 362, although it can run upto a 66!!
  19. oi!! im also blonde! although that would explain a few things!! as far as i know, the badger hill do work with shuttleworth in some form or another, just not sure how? i looked at a cs34 with salceys a few years back, just never got round to it. although im actualy thinking moulton college at northampton is also a good place, maybe 20 mins drive away?
  20. just stick with what you know!! you could take years finding ropes that work and will inevitably find duff ones! just play it safe and ask/borrow different ones for a quick jolly. get yourself to a recreation day (or organise your own!)
  21. ive already said the badger hill test centre in maulden should do them. they are the regional test centre for nptc, i also believe cleartrack/salceys near milton keynes tried dabbling a few years back?
  22. probably the closest thing (apart from the aformentioned) is the X cuppressocyparis leylandii. but as that wasnt actualy a grafted effort (?????) maybe not.....
  23. if my bonce is workin proper.......(and thats not often!) lantra course is cheaper cus lantra do the training part of the same course. you will have a certificate for it. the problem is it expires after five years, and you will need to pay for further training to keep it. NPTC do the test part of the same course. you dont necessary need the training part(lantra) but it does help for novices. iin short lantra - training Nptc - test if its done as part of a college course, you might get conccessions? at the very least assuming shuttleworth (or as we call them "shi.......") teach you properly, you should be able to pass test 100% without the training part . ps.....i believe shuttleworth use the badger hill nptc test cente at maulden?
  24. looks good! i can only see one teeny weeny tiny small problem.......... .......when and where is it?
