  1. I can vouch for that. Bought 40 tonne of sitka recently. Felled last may. Stacked high up on the hill, very exposed to wind. processed just before xmas and mc averaged 18%. Some of it was showing at 14% (6 to 8" diameter stuff). Happy days:thumbup: Hardwood is more problematic. I too have found birch and beech cord up to about 6" or 7" to be dry enough after 4 to 6 months. Above that size forget it...it has to be split. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  2. Correct as far as it goes. The problems arise when you come to retire and find you can only access part of your pot directly. The majority has to be used to purchase an annuity at currently ruinous rates . when you die the remainder of the annuity is won by the life company. Moral of the story...work hard and do your best the get ###### like all the rest. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  3. Me too. I believe it is because the govt could be held liable for misselling sometime in the future. I think "contracting out" will be the next scandal after ppi. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  4. Had exact same thing in the transit b4 xmas. Noticed that the filler cap had been tampered with. had a friend sort it out for me. He found sugar and what looked like water but was probably piss. Was annoying at the time but I took it as a backhanded compliment...i must be real competition if someone feels the need to try sabotage. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  5. I dont think it can include much if any firewood. Just look at the import prices quoted on this forum. Even if if the wood in the baltic states is free when standing the cost of harvesting, processing and shipping push the price too high to sell it on at a profit here. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  6. Located where? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  7. Could just be the depth gauges need taking down on the chain. Was the sawdust more dust than chip? Electric sharpener is way to go. Buy one off rob d. You wont regret it http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  8. Did he survive? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  9. Ditto:thumbup: Also check that the rails on the bar are not burred. Ime even the slightest burr can cause problems. To eliminate bar and chain from problem fit new bar and new chain. If problem persists check belt tensions, pulley condition, revs and bar alignment. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  10. the nuclear option is to develop a halting site for travellers. We all know these are in short supply so how could the council possibly object:thumbup: http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  11. Wodpicker, apply for outline planning for housing yourself. That will smoke him out. If passed it will definitely jack up the asking price. While your app is being considered it should also throw the jobsworths of the scent....string it out. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  12. 50 m3 in the solid is around 12 days work for one man with saw and splitter or a month and half of weekends. Hardly processor territory. But ideal hospital job between other jobs. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  13. Nothing doing north of the border by the looks of it. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  14. Without doubt take some legal advice. The sum offered seems derisory to me. If you were / are in a position that warrants a compromise agreement I would guess that at at least £10k should be the sum to play with. Remember they will be balancing that cost against the statutory minimum plus legal fees plus tribunal costs and tribunal compensation. If they want rid of you then you have the whip hand with regard to settlement price. I believe you can receive up to £30k taxfree per annum as compensation for loss of office so tax should not be an issue. Btw make sure you keep all correspondence and a diary of events. All helps if things go pearshaped. Best of luck. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  15. Magic! Thanks http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  16. The difference between them and us is that we operate in almost perfect competition...if we get "greedy" the market punishes us by losing work. By contrast the power co.s are an oligopoly. The last thing they want to do is compete on price as they dont have to...where are going to go if yoy leave them? Not very far! the only way to make them compliant and competitive is to have a system with truly smart meters that switch supplier from second to second, only buying the cheapest units. All this contract nonsense, 6 to 12 months, is for the birds. Same goes for, banks, broadband, mobiles, landlines and water. They are all just gangsters in suits. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  17. The diff http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  18. Thank you rob. Sharpener turned up yesterday and been playing today. Excellent tool just wish id bought one ages ago. If you run big bars or have yards and yards of chain to sharpen I cannot recommend it enough. The only useful improvement I can think of would be a 240 volt adapter for workshop use for if you havent got an old car battery to hand. Many thanks. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  19. Lol....there be dragons! Will find out if the guy is free. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  20. Might know someone who could help. Where is the site? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  21. The quantity of moisture sitting on the external surface of a seasoned log is miniscule compared the water in a green log. Dont worry about it. It takes a long while for moisture to repenetrate a hardwood log. Dry Softwood however will absorb rainwater if left exposed. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  22. Change your name to Earl:) http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  23. Possibly jon but they still have to keep the wheels turning by cutting some. Plus firewood is usually the byproduct I.e. stuff not good enough for the mill so if mills busy firewood will still be produced. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  24. Be careful...if a bearing or race is squeaking it is at least still working. Ime when the squeaking stops failure is usually iminent. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
