  1. And quality of the wood. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  2. Rob, big j.... What causes shake like that in walnut and other woods? Fungal attack? Wind stressing the trunk? Genetic or growth defect? Or is it just stress relief once the stem is cut and on the deck? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  3. How high do you think the jumping off point was and how far from that did he travel? I thought he was going to hit the deck at the point with balloons. Stomach churning stuff:thumbup: http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  4. Pete, I too went for reeducation just before xmas. I was caught doing 35 in a 30. My gripe was that the camera imo was not lawfully signed so I could have got off but took the easier and cheaper route of attending the course. Very much an eye opener. We should all be aware that if you hit a kid a 30 they have a very high chance of escaping major injury. If you hit them at 35 to 40 there is a very high chance they will die. Ask yourself this...if you do speed and kill a child what will you say to their parents? I was late for work, late for a meeting, late for a delivery? Better they live and you be 5 minutes late surely? I'm no angel and have done many stupid and dangerous things in vehicles in my time. I found the course a bit of a wake up call. My course was run by the aa and was not patronising in the least. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  5. Loads round here like him. He will soon pack it in when he realises what he has to spend on proper equipment, advertising, insurance etc. thats if the hard physical graft doesnt get to him first. Keep in with him though it might get you access to the wood:thumbup: http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  6. If you are aiming for volume then processor, log deck and loader is the optimum combo imo. If its just occaisional use or oversize dia. Stock then chainsaw and vertical splitter. The more you do, the more the proccesor option becomes viable / desireable. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  7. Defo use nets. No need for a bag sealer. Also wood may sweat in the plastic whereas in a net it is drying all the time providing it is kept out of the rain. Just keep the nets out of direct sunlight so they dont rot. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  8. Size is king. Looks like it could handle up to 10" dia. The cut piece handling system is interesting but suspect it would struggle with twisty pieces. Basically no more efficient than a hakki, posch or palax but considerably more expensive. When I win the lottery it's going to be Cord King for me with their processor and monster length splitter:thumbup: http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  9. Account set up. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  10. the gales must have an effect on price but I think the mild winter will have more of an influence with regards to fieewood. Too much stock in the woods with not enough retail demand to soak it all up http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  11. Rob Can you pm me a price inc. delivery on the precision model? I've had enough of hand filing to last me a lifetime. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  12. A little ego boost in the log business this season is just what the doctor ordered. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  13. Think that is aready happening. Just been offered birch cord at 22 a ton roadside. 3 months ago same wood was offered at 34 a ton. If I wait another month it might fall to a tenner. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  14. Single bollocking for the boy but double bollocking for the others who should have known better. If you repair the saw yourself get the boy to help. He learns how to fix a saw and better understands the consequences of innattention to detail in a dangerous work enviroment. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  15. That figure is not for big overheads it is for profit. If you are running a business you should be earning profits not wages. I understand that rates vary by region but not by that much. If you are taking the risk by running a business the main aim is to get richer surely. You will not do that at 300 a day for the above combo. You will only get poorer http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  16. Billy, Tell us more.....exactly how did you filter it...how could you tell it was clean enough? Can you mix it with dino diesel? In what proportion? Does it have to be engine oil, what about hydraulic oil? Ok to run in a deutz 2cyl. Engine? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  17. Can you pm me a price. Delivery to ab54. Also give me an idea of the discounts for quantity http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  18. Having said all that I dont doubt someone will do it for 300 notes:thumbdown: http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  19. Welcome to the wacky world of working in wood in the northeast. Whichever way you cut it that team should be charged out at a least 750 a day plus accomodation and travelling otherwise where is the revenue for repairs, depreciation tax & ni and most importantly PROFIT. Imo below 500 and you are better of working in mcdonalds. I cannot see how 300 a day is in any way commercially viable even if cash in hand. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  20. This last week I've had an unexpected rush of orders so have started to creep prices up. Have not lost an order so far. Seems as if all the cheap wet wood has gone. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  21. Elg, what is the take on this in the states? As I understand it, it will enable us courts to take down a site anywhere in the world merely on an allegation not a proven fact. Given I cannot influence us legislators as I cant vote in the us this is akin to taxation without representation. wasn't a revolution fought on such a matter? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  22. At 1.50 a net you will be lucky to see a pound in profit before you take out your labour cost, assuming they are softwood nets. Not worth doing at that price imho. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  23. Where exactly is delivery for. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  24. Whats the story with this? Price seems extortionate. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
