  2. Petrol engine......probably get around 2mpg when loaded. Cool truck nonetheless. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  3. Have not read article but there is a fine line between genuine journalism and paid pr. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  4. Was showing minus 8 here this morning in huntly area. Took me an hour to get the nashie started but 7 orders taken before 10 am so hope it lasts. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  5. is it much more expensive? Can you give a couple of examples http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk

Ask the landowner for his and his contractors insurance details as you need to claim for damages / lost earnings due to the outage. That will set the cat amongst the pidgeons. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  7. Have experience of the kindlet not this machine. Imo a good machine for the money as long as you have knot free flat timber of the right dimensions as your feedstock. I would imagine that it wont take roundwood and if it did the product would be too big. To make that machine productive you need two operatives. At least with the kindlet one man can bag and load with the machine still splitting at the same time. Kindlets are expensive for a reason...they are the best in class you can get. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  8. I think problems with the railway go back way before maggie. There was chronic underinvestment from ww1 onwards as road traffic became viable. Throw in 2 world wars and then nationalisation and you have the perfect recipe for industrial disaster. Separation of track from train operation was not a smart move but nationalisation was not and is not the answer. The private sector take profits but the public sector cant manage labour and runs inefficiently so the end result is the same. when in the public sector there were always more pressing needs to pay for I.e. nhs, defence, education etc. Imo hs2 is a political white elephant designed to garner votes in marginal seats in the midlands and northwest. You could argue that there is greater economic benefit in spending £30 bn on a nationwide tree planting scheme to reforest the uk. It would create thousands of jobs immediately and leave us with a valuable resource and ongoing employment for the next 250 years. It would also capture a lot of carbon. Who the hell wants to go birmingham anyway:) http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  9. What amazes me is that it will take 14 years to build just to get to birmingham. If we are going to build it surely it makes more sense to do it quickly. How long would the chinese or the yanks take to build it? Probably about 18 months:) Cameron is turning this country into an international laughing stock. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  10. How much per ton trackside? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  11. Pretty sure you can make up to 2500 litres p.a. Tax free for your own use. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  12. Just wrap the sacks in brown paper and keep them under the counter. Only sell to those customers looking fod a "hardcore" product. Nudge nudge wink wink say no more:) http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  13. windfall, your cancellation may be a little hasty. Let me add some petrol to the flames...... What is wrong with africans trying to sell their products into the uk? 1. Wood is a commodity and like any other it is traded globally. Does anyone refuse to buy petrol because it comes from saudi arabia instead of the north sea? 2.leaving the wood for the locals is fine. They will need some . But they also need cash to escape a subsistence (poverty line) lifestyle. Is anyone suggesting we shut them out of the market and keep them poor and hungry? 3.given the cost of any imported firewood what are you all worried about? the african wood will only ever service the ultra premium, snobby end of the market. 4. The greenpeace comments above are shallow and trite. The questions that should be asked are: Do the workers there share properly in the rewards? Is the resource managed in a sustainable way? This is trade not aid and it deserves fair treatment. To a very large extent most of africa is kept poor as they are locked out ofb eu markets by the cap and other tarrif barriers. if they can make a few bob flogging firdwood good luck to them. Finally, ask yourself this: If jan the boer phoned you and ordered 10,000 tons of sitka delivered to cape town, money no object would you tell him to go away? Would you ! Now awaiting return fire:p http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  14. Keep waving that magic wand peckerwood:) we are all counting on you:thumbup: http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  15. Dean, what happened to the offenders from last year? Did you tackle them? Did they get prosecuted? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  16. Read the posts following the article. The gist is that it may be of some use but it is unlikely. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  17. You have to remember that most of this rubbish is generated by people paid by the taxpayer to dream up non existent "issues" that need to be "corrected". There is a whole race and equality and yuman rites industry out there funded by us trying to justify itself. It has a vested interest in perpetrating this nonsense. In reality it is a job creation scheme for political cronies who would be totally unemployable in the real world. At least it keeps the off the streets. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  18. Cheers ace. I've got the original 30" solid bar on my 153 and tbh it is now fubar. Having difficulty matching it to a modern bar. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  19. Snow snow and more snow. Yeeeehaaaaah!!!!!!!!! Phone ringing of the hook:thumbup::thumbup: http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  20. Just to confirm.... The cup of the sprocket is welded to the shaft. For speed order sprocket, shaft and two bearings from large rather than tit about making one. Also a good idea to fit a new belt pulley as the old one will get damaged as you remove it. When refitting new parts ensure that shaft is pushed far enough into pulley so that shaft end is flush with belt pulley outside edge thus pulling drive sprocket into correct alignment with chainsaw bar. Then use the old parts as patterns to tit about making your own new parts. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  21. Thanks for the info. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  22. Dont kirbys cost about £800? We have a henry...cheap and cheerful. Excellent for sucking all the ash out of the woodboiler and the flue. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  23. Ace, what make is the bar on the 153? Do you have a part no.? Is it solid or sprocket nose? http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  24. The temp up here at moment is the killer. Also competition is now dumping wood on the market locally , I.e. within 5 mile radius of me, for silly money. I will not sell at those prices. I can get a better price at auction than what they are selling for and that is saying something:thumbdown: I can go bust just by sitting in the yard. I dont have to work towards it. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
  25. 14 degrees c up here. Better than a summers day. But cant complain yet. Shifted 45 m3 in week up to xmas eve. http://www.kinnoirwoodfuel.co.uk
