  1. We use a kindlet. It's ideal for us as we use prepared timber no rounds or logs. It has a conveyor which feeds wood through.
  2. I have made a few of these shelters to store finished nets and blanks waiting to go through the kindling machine.
  3. I have not posted much about our kindling lately because even though it has been a mild winter at times we have been flat out and I was afraid of letting our regular customers down. We have improved our storage with 5 new sheds and hope to keep well in front of the job this year. We have been producing a green net for the last 6 months and it has been very popular. It is produced from English softwood clean new off cuts so locally grown and sourced. The bag is a quality woven green net 600x450 and weighs around 5.2 kg when bone dry. The bags are about 25 % bigger than our orange nets. Due to the slightly more rustic look we have been selling for the same price.
  4. On half load our 60 kva uses about 5 litres an hour. The other thing to remember it's an engine bolted to an alternator so your not paying out for gearbox oil or repairs. Less friction should also mean better efficency.
  5. Bct 9000 or 600 and a couple of endure awfull tyres but the grip, don't get stuck in the mud and go round so no need to change them.
  6. I think I have 235 60 16 on all mine. They came with horrible Chinese bct road tyres but they don't get stuck even towing the chipper through thick mud and yet to put the diff lock in. Great little cars.
  7. Just my view but not much room for error there. I would be happy with a 70 hp plus. especially with that lot on greasey roads. I am sure it can do it but it's fine until something happens and someone gets hurt then you have to prove its a good safe set up.
  8. Could be although we don't actually see much crud in engines these days unless they had some really bad problems before rebuild. I think modern oil looks dirty quicker either because it holds the dirt in suspension rather than leave it all around the engine or the egr shoots it up straight away.
  9. We have always done the same. I even use it in most of the petrols. The only time I don't is if I think the piston seal is mostly down to carbon. I could be talking rubbish but in my early years of engine building we regularly had discussions about not putting high detergent oils in knackered engines and there was a theory that one of the lads sierras let go because of this. Stuck piston rings suddenly freeing up.
  10. The 926 looks good but a tele handler is so much more versatile. The later 2.5 tonne teles are much narrower and means you can keep rows of pallets and dumpy bags closer together. Not so relevant if you have a huge yard but we are tight for space and my machine spends its life with the neck stretched.
  11. I would imagine its a tool for his work with in 50 km and towing is not his main occupation so may be excempt especially if he is driving the digger on site
  12. I think the defender has a slightly lower ratio transfer box than the discovery so makes it better for towing. Good set of rear poly bushes and well serviced engine and brakes you will get by. We used to run 300 tdi and Amazon the later was the mutts for pulling 3500 kg with ease but it's a lot of car to live with on a daily basis especially around town at 14 mpg solo.
  13. In this weather he is probably right but I think he means 45 cu metres
  14. I bought a Chinese pneumatic semi automatic cross cut machine. Designed to cut timber in a joinery shop. We stuff the mouth full of timber and fitted it with a conveyor. It has run flat out at least 1 day a week for the last five years and never missed a beat. Got through dozens of blades and a few drive belts. Not all Chinese stuff is rubbish just most of it
  15. It could be that the early low sulphur fuel only had 3% bio now it has up to 7 % originally for a year or so there was no tax added to the bio element. This higher concentration of oil may help the older pumps. My plant certainly runs a lot cleaner on the new red diesel. Years ago I ran low in a 300 tdi on the a303 and 3 garages in a row shut for refurb. There was probably 5 litres in the tank I had 10 litres of engine oil in the boot chucked it in. I was thinking with 3 tonne of trailer behind it would pull like a snail and smoke like a pig but it pulled better than running on diesel and went further ( reading the next day )
  16. I found the pick ups much better on a mild lighter weight at like the Bridgestone dueller they often come with. I fitted bf Goodrich which is a tough long lasting tyre but very heavy and the unstrung weight made it trump all over the road it never drove well and I sold it soon after. Heavy 4x4 like the Amazon or disco drive great on gg at or bfg at but they are heavier and have coils all round.
  17. There may be people with tight access on there own wood land that need to get a drop of wood home. But I think when I looked into it it was cheaper to get an arctic or 8 wheeler than run it back and forth with a big 4x4
  18. I had a pilki 2x not the best processor but with decent cord we used to do about 2 cube an hour inc dinner and tea breaks and loading the deck. Screwing our clapped out machine back together. 16 cube a day and we had enough by then.
  19. I have gg at2 on my landcruiser and it drives much better than it did on Falcons or bf Goodrich at. Been on two years and look unworn never lost grip on the road or mud
  20. In my trade commercial contracts = waiting forever for payment . endless reams of Rems and h&s bull. Sucking up to spotty geeks to get permits issued . Crap access and poor attitude on site. But then it could just be my sunny disposition :lol:
  21. I tend not to introduce liquids to an engine that were not designed to be there. The producers of Redex you would hope have tested it in engines so probably worth a try. Engine oil is in the sump so should not cause problems mixed with fuel in low %. Why would you put motor bike oil in a diesel. Has any body actually tested during the long term test of the engine, no . Good tip with the rag on the barrel Bob I have always canted them over with a small piece of wood so the water does not lay on the caps. I think they draw water in when they expand and contract in the sun. A fuel tank often produces its own water by heating up and cooling down so water does not always come in with a delivery. Worth checking the bottom of tanks regularly especially metal ones.
  22. Can't speak from experience about a late sprinter but have a 110 hp Vito. Bags of torque goes like the clappers. It's 5 years old now owned it 2 and it has about 90 k on the clock. So far I have put fuel in and 2 wipers. I grilled the local dealer before I bought it and they said they have vertically zero problems with the Cdi engines and the big v6 they have never had a problem. I have had several mercs and never had any real problems apart from occasional prop shaft at 140,000 miles.
  23. Or he may be adding an additive at point of delivery that stops waxing etc. I had a kero delivery of heating oil and paid for a premium fuel. The driver tipped an additive in ( could have been magic beans ) but that fuel did seem to last forever.
  24. I think there is only one grade of diesel in this country made to standard. The diesel that caused our customers problem had been purchased in the summer and stored in one of those ibc tanks in the sunlight. Diesel now has solvents to stop the oil separating out and we all know what happens to solvent after a few months. The oil separates out and sinks to the bottom of the tank where it mixes with water once it's been agitated by the lift pump it turns to mayonnaise in the filter.
  25. I had a generator with a filter exactly the same I have a pic on my phone. I think it's a combination of frosty weather and summer grade fuel. An added problem is it starts to go off after 3 months add a bit of water from the bottom of the tank and you end up with this problem. White or red it all contains 7 % veg oil. I don't think there is a premium red diesel. There is still the dirty old gas oil about but only for use in standby generators and it's not legal to use it in plant or tractors.
