  1. I had a new d22 and that was definately a cat. Dpf never got going until about 2010 . I only ask as interested to know what difference poking the guts out of dpf on different makes has.
  2. It's worth doing a bit of home work first. The old stuff is fine but some of the newer stuff needs programming otherwise it will log faults. Some engines have a cooler on the egr which helps reduce engine temps so need to be careful especially if you tow. Removing the faulty egr often reduces the pollution keeps the oil and engine and oil cleaner. Power and mpg will be minimal. Results on mot will not be affected. Diesels need to be really filthy to fail the mot.
  3. My Vito gets 40 k out of a £70 tyre Depends also on the depth of tread to start with. My Amazon 16 in wheels get 50 k plus on bfg at. They start with 14 mm But the disco 4 had 19 in low profile which get hotter and suffer more damage from pot holes and towing. They start with 8 mm of tread and with 250 hp last about 12,ooo miles or 6 months.
  4. My proper drinking days are over. I still like a pint ir two a week but no drinking at home now. Through out my life I have had an alcoholic in my family somewhere. The person with the illness does not realise the damage they are doing. It's an addiction similar to heroin in my opinion.
  5. Looked at the bbc 5 day and it's looking proper cold for next week. Ace will be good to get rid of this rain especially for those flooded out up north can get the heat and dehumidifier a in
  6. It definately feels like winters coming I put my speedboat away got my sledge ready
  7. No problem Jon, it's just a thought I not actually organised it.
  8. I think we still have time for a good six weeks of winter anyone else think the same or will it go through warm and wet.
  9. I had magnetic signs on a four year old white van left them on for a few weeks and the paint went completely Matt underneath. Never managed to polish it out properly. Also any metal filings around will sit on the back and leave rust marks on the paint. I don't take the risk now and just go around naked
  10. When we run the joinery off cuts through the cross cut saw they are fed into those bags by a conveyor. We used to leave them outside but the weather is now so wet it's been getting through the bags. They may only stay in that shed for a week or so but we normally have about 80 of those bags at a time.
  11. I had a load of 95x95 planned timber at least 5.2 metres long so I made this the inside measurement. I like my bays 2.8 wide gives a bit of wiggle room with the pallets. I cut the 5.2 roughly in half to get the depth and height with a bit of adjustment for a 200 mm fall. The half finished frame on the left took two of us 2 hours to make the first one took 6 hrs once you made one they fly up. I am thinking of making 5
  12. The fact the current hilux still holds its own against all the other newly updated models would indicate the new model should be a good leap forward. Just hope they don't skimp on the quality and have too many teething problems. When I bought my navarra the current hilux was a mark 5 look how well made they were and how many still run around with 400 k on the clock.
  13. I bought the first of the d22 navara it lasted about 2 years if I had bought the hilux then I would probably still have it. The Nissan/ Renault stuff may have a bit more bling and cup holders but have a feeling the hilux still has the metal where it's needed.
  14. I have been building some sheds over the break. 16x8 but I am sure u could scale it up. Amazing how fast they go up with some 4x4 timber 6 inch screws from toolstation.
  15. I am thinking with electronic carbs and faulty clutch bearings both have lowered their game considerably and it's time to give the other colours a go.
  16. Hope you don't mind I added a bit There is a section of society who, being incapable of anything else have created a niche which they fill by being self confidant bullies capable of bulls*******g their way through life while contributing nothing of any value, many of them go on to be Politicians , shopping centre security guards, work permit issuers, health and safety trainers, facility managers.
  17. I think the next generation may have been dragged up to be clients. They are used to being waited on and consulted on the level of service. At school, college and university they are clients and when they finally leave after their midlife crisis they are institutionalised and had their common sense removed.
  18. If your a japcrap man you could be heading for disappointment. If you only need 700 kg in the butt and don't need extreme off road. If you have a life and family at the weekends. If you are more than 5 ft 6 in height and have elbows. If you like heat in the cab and doors that shut. You could be better off with a hilux.
  19. I agonised for a day or two having kept my eye open for five years and not seen anything as clean. It was too far away. He came down to 21500 but it books at 16 k as a private sale and 18 k at a main dealer with some after sale back up. I offered 20 k for it as it stood needing an over due service and cam belt. With these jobs the flights, taxing it at £500 and possibly a new exhaust at 8 years old I could see another 3k disappearing. For that sort of money I could buy a new double cab hilux with 3 year warranty and no mots for 3 years. Large Cars are very poor on saving income tax commercials very good.
  20. They still do the v8 4.5 litre diesel. But it's hellish expensive used. Very electronic and not as nice to drive as the old Amazon. Butt ugly from the rear and always seems to come in black or white. Had no real experience lc3/4/5 but looks a bit fantastic plastic and only tows 2.6 tonnes.
  21. Ever faithful Amazon. 11 plate merc Vito Hyundai i10 1996 hilux in top gear red Very nearly bought a 57 plate mint Amazon last week but it was just too much over priced.
  22. I know but with a saw and splitter we do about 1 cu metre an hour. How much can u charge when people around are delivering a cu metre for £60. Remember it's their wood as well. If it was cheap we would have been run off our feet but more often than not people expect to pay minimum wage unless your a brain surgeon. Then they might pay £10 an hour Middle england tight as a ducks chuffer
  23. I used to do it with a trailer vertical splitter. If someone has a big ash tree across their garden they are happy to pay about £40 an hour for a two man team. We used to guarantee a minimum amount of logs but normally would produce a third more.
  24. Winter has not started yet still plenty of time
