  1. I think I might have one does it have a shredder on the side.
  2. Yes if I fold it in half and yes I am a size twelve shoe.
  3. I looked at the shogun looks ok but I tend to look at it that for 7 k more I can take five years off and get a new one with warranty and no mots for three years. I like the cummins engines have a sound all of their own makes anew Perkins sound like it is on its last legs. I was trained on the Ktta 50 from memory 50 litre v16. Four turbos and inter cooled we used to get 2000 kva out of them.
  4. I found a 6 month old 200 series on eBay with 6000 miles on the clock for 55 k including vat so it would come out early forties for me. Seemed like a bargain compared to the 59 plate stuff fo 30 k. Before I shot off to Crewe I drove one in a local dealers and to be honest it was nice getting back in my Amazon. The 200 has a little more power but is carrying a lot more weight. The engine and auto gearbox sounded a bit buzzy and not as relaxed as my old faithful
  5. The disco drives and handles better. It's quicker and more up to date. But at what cost, in my experience big repair bills and more always looming. The land cruiser has a good ride due to the active suspension ( part spring part hydraulic ) but can have problems that run into £3000 after a few years the accumulators wear out and the ride hardens a little. Check the electric adjustment on the steering wheel the motors go about 80- 100 k. Some were prone to rust especially the back end. Seats are more comfortable than the disco and more room. The disco averaged 24 and the landcruiser is exactly the same. Driven sensibly you could get 29 out the disco but max 26 out of the Amazon on route to Paris. After my experience I would have to be stark staring mad to ever consider another Land Rover apart from a cheap doggy old defender I would not spend more than pocket money
  6. Yes Kia are good little cars but the Sorento starts at 30 k new and is awful to drive.
  7. Kia Sorento overpriced for what it is more in your Dacia duster league. Hyundai Santa fai the main dealer talked me out of even looking at them as he did not want to loose our future custom on the i10's Nissan patrol ok but I felt not in the same league as the Amazon. Known to have mediocre low end torque for towing and can have gearbox problems.
  8. I love my LC amazon but they are getting old and tired. For the money I don't like the the new v8 even 6 year old ones are still over 30 k they feel much heavier and don't handle as well. I looked at 30 k worth of Porsche cayenne absolutely dreadful Disco 4 the best 4x4 I ever driven and owned but shockingly unreliable and constant expensive repairs. Don't bother unless you are a multi millionaire. Mercedes gl the big one not the ml. Not driven or owned looks good on paper reported to be unreliable. Looks very cheap used. Toyota lc5 good vehicle may be too small for u only tows about 2600 kg Shogun dated but good value for money new 26 k + vat tows 3500 kg never driven the newer ones and not keen on mitsy but although very dated a lot of truck for the money. Range Rover 56 plate felt short in the body small boot wallowed all over the road probably more unreliable than the disco. I had 3 RR in my life they all lasted 4 days. As you can see I have been trying to up date my Amazon for some time if you can find a 57 plate with low miles in good condition I would grab it mine is now 16 years old and owned it for 11 years. Been totally reliable and only needed one set of brakes a genuine exhaust ( £1000) one cambelt and wiper blades. I would have one in a heart beat . The face lift came out in 53 plate onwards with 18 in wheels and a more economical 5 speed auto.
  9. I just bought one with one Cree led very bright last 3 hrs on full brightness 6 on half which is all I need. Best bit is £12 plus vat. I will find the link if your interested. It's obviously Chinese but feels quality and if it gets crushed or lost its cheap.
  10. I would assume if you damage something while tipping it will be on your vehicle insurance. Pl would be useful these days to prove your innocents. If a thatch catches fire u will need to defend your self. If someone trips over the pile of logs you just delivered. If someone feels the woodworm eat there house in a week from your logs.

I used to wonder if you got more logs in a 2 cu metre tipper body than you do in 8 240 litre wheely bins.
  12. Not really a regulation but in our area the competition ring up on a with held no and ask questions only someone in the trade would ask. When you have had enough fun ask them where they live and how much they use in a winter the phone will go dead.
  13. Yeah I agree totally. When I look for a vehicle closer to 30 is better than closer to 20 . Keeping an eye on the real mpg shows up the odd binding brake or jammed egr. Even changing the oil regular makes a difference to the mpg. I notice our old mk 4 hilux did not seem to get into 5 th as often and the oil felt gritty between the fingers changed it and away she went. Never even touched the fuel filters.
  14. I reset the mpg read out on my disco 4 and drove the tank like a granny to see what it could get to the gallon. The dash said 40 but I knew that was wrong so worked it out and it was 24 mpg. Some computers can be adjusted by the dealer to give a truer reading. They are set optimistic most owners will not question it and buy another truck on the basis the last one was good on fuel. The other thing to do is make sure you calculate that there is 4.5 litres to a gallon not 5 litres.
  15. I can see where you are coming from but with a weight ticket you can't go far wrong. Where it can go badly wrong is if there is no weight ticket and it's worked out by measured volume. Especially if there are lots of twisty sticks and gaps between the stacks on the lorries. Although I think most arctics get 4 stacks of 3 metres or 5 stacks 2.4 m
  16. Wife got a oral b 4000 electric toothbrush for £10
  17. Two cows one each no vegetarians in our house.
  18. If I need furniture or appliances best time to buy is when everyone is on holiday with the kids in July august. The sheds are dead and they are desperate for sales and commission. The lemming event on Boxing Day is amusing to watch and now Black Friday. People killing each other to save an inflated amount on a cheap Turkish tele
  19. It's a Landrover john be grateful it goes Probably a combination of warm fuel getting through the lift pump better and moving through the filters easier. Warm fuel burns easier and better.Possibly breather restricted. As said less weight of fuel.
  20. Because she'll fuel floats on top of tesco. So when you get low the proper fuel you bought two years ago starts getting used.
  21. Racor do one that actually separates out any water and allows diesel through.
  22. An alternative view point and a good one. How often have we past miles of road works and cones only to find no work going on. People are probably sick of the over top h&s nanny state. Unfortunately what they don't realise is sealing off a drop zone is absolutely essential. On a building site a brick might fall in the next month. In a drop zone a chop will land every few seconds. Eventually you will have to erect 6 ft heras fence just for a few hours work.
  23. Winter grade has additives to prevent waxing. Summer grade does not but has additives to help protect pump and engine in hot conditions. Fuel is critical now days with £100,000 tractors and combines running common rail engines dirty fuel is deadly and expensive.
  24. I service dozens of big generators and we have very few problems. Not saying this is your problem but good house keeping prevents problems. Normally the problem is already in the bottom of the tank. Drain your fuel tanks and get the steam cleaner in there. Your bulk tank should have an inspection cover drain it then tip it up to see if there is water and gunk in the bottom. If there is get the last bit out with soak mats. Fuel bought now is winter grade and will stay fresh for at least 3 months. After that time the solvents are evaporating and the veg oil starts to separate and mix with any water. White and red is exactly the same fuel and will behave the same. The reason road vehicles are less prone is good storage conditions and it is used quickly. Try to run your tanks down so you don't mix too much summer and winter grade. Fresh fuel in a dirty tank will absorb the moisture very quickly.
  25. The heaters they are looking at on here can be set off by a timer or remote control to preheat the engine. The old sprinters were set up with the heaters because the engine was set up to be overcooled to give a safety margine. All makes have problems with dpfs but I have not heard of rising oil levels. The other thing to investigate is whether the regeneration is actually the problem or is the injection pump leaking is the head cracked. Is the injection timing correct.
