  1. If you get prolonged heavy rain your going to get floods, if it keeps raining the floods dont go away, low lying land with a history of flooding will suffer, simples. How people can blame the gov, is beyond me, but I suppose we do live in a 'blame culture', well, some do! I do feel sorry for the victims of this, but if you buy property on a flood plane, you really must expect it to live up to it's reputation.
  2. Even small bits like this; DSCF0003 by geoff321, on Flickr DSCF0002 by geoff321, on Flickr DSCF0001 by geoff321, on Flickr
  3. Lovely looking wood there Silky, I would think you are the sort of bloke to end up with a little lathe, ( given the time to use it), you would love turning wood & have the creative mind to produce some interesting results. I have a small lathe, it will easily fit in any car boot, & can turn wood to about 6 inch diameter, & spindle work to 12 inch. look into it mate, It is so relaxing & rewarding to turn a bit of timber.
  4. Most of the lads I work with would frighten them off!

  6. That is/was good fuel, but your chancing your arm running that through a modern saw, might run fine, but if you persist with using old fuel, it will wreck your saws piston & pot. It's not worth the risk imo.
  7. 3 to 4 weeks & it will be on its way.
  8. They did that to me...10 years of turmoil,, now I'm sorted & got my mind right I think it was good value for the money. Blessings from the church are what they are, me, I would feel a lot happier with a nice cheque!
  9. They wont marry you or bury you for free, so charge normal rates, & dont forget to pass the collection box round half way through proceedings, for chipper maintenance.
  10. Hi there Rik, I suffered for years with IBS & UC, I'm now fine, maybe once a year I get the first symptoms of UC, but can clear it up in a few days with diet & mind work, rarely needing a small dose of prednisolone for a few days, I was on the verge of loosing my bowels & hospitalised for weeks on end over a couple of years. It can get a lot better with the right treatment, & learning to eat right & think right. I too am up for a chat if you need it, I will pm you my phone details mate.
  11. As he says, once seasoned it is a very nice stove wood, but it takes a bit of time to fully season.

    Good bye Arbtalk

& I thought we were mates... I think the op made a rash move with his post, he could have just stayed away, no humble pie to eat if he felt the need to return, smacks of other issues going on imo. If so I hope he's ok.
  13. Most likely it wont have the torque needed to drive the chipper.
  14. That would involve you having a sex change mate... I would stick to the violin idea personally.....
  15. Leave him the chance to come back if he is of value to the company, young lads often dart about a bit, & give him a call after a week for a chat, see how he is doing, & ask if he has any issues.
  16. One day you might need a little help yourself, I hope you get a more understanding than you are showing here, it is in the spirit of Arbtalk to help people out a bit.
  17. Nice work, I keep meaning to get a mill, this years 'must do' !
  18. They have balls, but didn't we all when young, the lad is a selfish spoilt workshy waster. If those lads fall, they hurt more than just themselves, often they are above public areas, aside from which they have family, & some poor sod has to clear up the mess they will make.
  19. :laugh1:
  20. A bloke I know had one done, he/ she looked a honey afterwards, albeit a 'funny honey', she is happily married to a normal fella now.
  21. True, they do.
  22. Fine question! It's an older syc, as said they do scale up.
  23. I'm with Steve & huck here, no problems with them, & they are quick to use requiring no tools. Simple tips; Don't overfill. Clean the rim if you get debris there. Take a minute some time to actually concentrate on how they work, ( doesn't apply to those with a modicum of common sense)...
  24. Have you thought about an ms150 rear handle, easier to source, & just as good.
  25. I found this quite something to look through, thought provoking stuff, & a good reminder of the power of tyranny, care please with the holocaust pics, not for the kids. World War II - The Atlantic
