  1. They are out there......just not that common........ View from 135 feet up a sitka in Par, St Austell:
  2. Really nice carving mate,
  3. I am assured that there will be a huge launch in august.......but TBH i am so bored of hearing this, even though this guy was at a husqvarna stand, not some garden machinery or arb shop stand.
  4. Good work G.G! Its an alaskan mini mill. I have one for sale.
  5. Keep us posted on this one Josh....I was playing with the t540 xp today....and even got a "definite" on release. I was sorely tempted- to the extent that I tried to get the guy to sell me one of the three he had at the stand (at ag show in cornwall), but he said they were definitely NOT to be sold. It is a very very nice machine, about a million miles from one of those 338 things, beautifully balnced with a 14" bar, and felt very well made too:thumbup1: My 200 is nigh on dead......just not sure if i can wait the (short) time until the husky is finally released.......that is if the timing I was assured by the rep has any relation to reality:sneaky2:
  6. Nicely done Josh. Freaky building!
  7. Well done Rob. Looks nice!

    Wow they're beautiful little bugs!
  9. Mate of mine used to do it marking the end of the log wit a square to line up the cuts. That would give you a square block which would be alot easier to resaw into beams.
  10. Like the majority of farmers give a monkeys about that...
  11. Haha....shouldnt laugh, but I have met so many farmers who think their handlers and tractor and loaders can do anything.....
  12. I grew up near Broadstone....used to regularly see these areas on fire like this. As a kid I can remember summers where everywhere was under smoke!!
  13. I just started another thrad on this for the same rerason. I was speaking to keeley at treelife today and she says some are doing it still. level 3 now though I think after re-structuring or something. Need to check out the info she sent, and Myerscough by the looks of it!
  14. I pretty much agree Matty. For years I refused to buy husky after blowing them up and just feeling they were poorly made, and until a couple of years back still felt that. However I now feel that stihl have been resting on their laurels.....the machines feel more cheaply made, my 200 has had endless problems, the ms362 I replaced an ms361 with feels cheap, and my husky 390xp is just a much better made machine. On top of that I have heard from 2 seperate dealers that stihl basically said 'if it says stihl on it they'll keep buying it'.......
  15. Yet to find out more about that. treelife didnt answer the phone today.
  16. That is a stunning piece of timber Matty. Sand the hell out of it with finer and finer paper, then use a clear satin varnish, several layers, letting each layer dry completely and using very fine wire wool on it between coats. It will keep its colour, but it will be varnished, which i am not personally a fan of.
  17. Hello chalky. I am sure you will have no difficulty geting rid of that given the state of hardwood cord at the mo.
  18. After about 14 years of tree related work, and about 3 years on Arbtalk learning that there is more to this industry than just a load of NPTC quals and some work gained knowledge, I want to 'get some letters after my name' as it were.....I want to feel that what I know is reflected by a formal qualification basically. My starting point after a couple of days in front of the PC and several calls to other arbs was the FRS cert arb, leading to ND Arb at a later date. However it appears that this is not available as a correspondence course. Family and career mean that I cannot do a full time in-house course at college. Any suggestions? I have been looking at ISA cert arb. What other suggestions can I get off those of you in the know. Ta.
  19. Nice one guys. Thats a super lift you had there........ and a great carpet of brash/ branches in the 18th and 19th pics!
  20. Beech every time over ash. Ok ash burns green....big deal. It burns fast when dry. Beech gives out shed loads of heat when dry and doesnt burn too fast. Almost the best logs you can get IMO.
  21. Apparently so. Towing Capacity Jeep,
