  1. Yeah this MIGHT be on the cards if I can get a lift with another south west arb.... I never knew 'gaggle' was the collective noun for woodsfolk either.
  2. There was a time when i would have sworn that vermeer were the best, end of. But after recent dealings with them that have gone somewhat awry, and hearing bad things about their newer stuff, i would say Bandit all the way now. I still have a vermeer, and my last one was a vermeer too BTW.
  3. The NFU policy isnt really worth the paper its written on for tree work. Its a standard Pl policy amended a bit to cover tree stuff.
  4. Its nesting season....they should have done a better inspection of the tree before felling it. I agree with Mark.
  5. A non return valve is a cheap short term fix for that. The diesel system is highly pressurised, and you have an inherent problem if the pressure is not being kept overnight.
  6. If you do need to use metal, use expensive stainless steel fixings.
  7. Well it all seems to have been covered TBH. Maybe a stronger DEET concentration. I used 100% in south america, but over here use 50% when i use it at all. Always try to wash it off before you apply more, because as has been said it does get absorbed. Less beer in your diet.........
  8. £16 for a can of chainsaw fuel!!!!!!!!!! That is nothing short of robbery. Its not like we are working in enclosed spaces ffs. Get down the garage- its about £7 when you mix it yourself the traditional way.
  9. square mortice andTenons would be the best- a square peg cut in the top of the uprights going right through a corresponding square socket in the top plank, fitting very tightly, with wooden wedge driven in afterwards too.
  10. The pines would be useful, but the larch and spruce less so. Originaly it was made from the turpentine tree, Pistacia terebinthus. Very toxic substance though, which can cause liver failure, which is partly why it is so hard to get hold of genuine turps like it used to be i think.
  11. Sorry to hear that Mark. RiP Hennie.
  12. No, but someone close to my heart is....
  13. Are any of you lot based in Shropshire?
  14. The best guy i have found is in the middle of nowhere near Liskeard....Lanro Engineering. It takes me ages to get there but its worth it.
  15. I take it you have ruled out everything else.....drive flanges, universal joint spiders in the props, transfer box, etc etc, as the rear diff is about the strongest part of the drivetrain in those. (Hope i'm not telling you stuff you already know BTW?)
  16. They're about £30 ish for 167" from just saws .
  17. Just get the Deakin Flathers Ripper 37s...they really are phenomenal blades- really long lasting and loads of resharpens- they work out pretty cheap in the long run. I would hate to have a weld fail on me during use!
  18. Theres no hope is there......anyway I didnt pay for the first one, it was given to us.....when I walked up to it to get in when i first picked it up, the drivers door handle fell off in my hand lol!
  19. Having suffered ownership of 2 of these cars, I have to ask.....why on earth would you botoher???????
  20. Yeah i think you're right Tom. A while back it was treated as if you ran an enormous risk even breathing near an infected tree/ plant / whatever, but now it seems that enough research has been done that it has been found that cross infection is not as certain as previously assumed.
  21. Thats a salisbury diff isnt it? You will only need to shim up the bearings or replace at worst. I have had mine done a couple of times.....about £400 a pop:thumbup1:
  22. Yeah that was some tool!!!!!
  23. I already told you....its macrocarpa!!
