  1. Its an excellent bit of kit. Very very simple and very very effective. It sas quick to use as can be. Well worth it IMO. I use in conjunction with the rc2000. edit: hahaha just seen the original posting date of this thread:blushing:
  2. I always use the RCX stihl. Good stuff. But then again i havent tried anything else lol........
  3. Cool bananas. Im butchering an elm hedge tomorrow....sorry, I mean expertly reducing the spread of an elm hedge:sneaky2: so if you dont get me ill call you back:001_smile:
  4. Any more trivia mate?
  5. I think thaty may be his preferred option, he is willing to take a hit on the price. He didnt plant them, and would rather get some return than just thinning and chipping them, even if that is lower than the market value. There are deffo some stragglers, especially where large oaks abd ashes have cast shadow, and I saw a fair few failed ones. In one patch sheep have got to them and nibbled the bark quite badly (his neighbours sheep:thumbdown:) so it isnt prime crop. Unfortunately.....its in shropshire! He does have the advantage of there being several thousand to choose from. There is a large stand of poplar at the back which have reached a fair size. I would imagine the best thing would be biomass for these?
  6. YOu ought to speak to chris willet- he would know it for sure if it was an elm. I am sure you are right mate. You know what you're looking for. What you up to friday? I could come up in the morning if you like?
  7. Went to a sort of farm museum place the other day and saw this chainsaw that was so heavy it must have been carved out of a solid lump of cast iron i reckon!! Anyway- I had never seen one before.
  8. Where is it Joe. (pm me if you like). There are a few welll known big elms in your part of cornwall.
  9. None at all??? Or just relevant to bucket use?
  10. Love em. Given that they wont start falling before they go out, and will have reached a hell of a height before they do go out, there is minimal risk.I stronglysuspect there have been VERY few cases which have resulted in accidents from them when properly used....i.e not let off near thatched roofs etc etc as is generally advised on the packaging.
  11. A mate of mine was stoped in a layby carving and at 2am the boy racers (or doggers!!) woke him...he thought he was being robbed, and they were met with a tattooed, dreadlocked guy wearing nothing other than chainsaw boots and an axe.....the layby was pretty quiet after that!
  12. YOu need to be addressing your drying/ storage methods if this is a regular occurence though. I have only experienced it once with sycamore under a leak in the roof. Make sure you brush off all sawdust before you stick the timber too.
  13. the idea of buying the tree spade was suggested by him. He certainly has the funds to do it. I think he would rather sell wholesale if that is possible
  14. I have been asked about the realities/ possibilites of selling trees that are in the ground. The person in question has several thousand mixed hardwoods af about 8-10 years old, mostly ash, oak and cherry from what i have seen, and ranging in hight from 10- 20 foot depending on shade conditions. They are spaced approximately 1.2 metres apart, and need thinning. I was asked what are the realities of digging up and selling trees in these conditions. Any help or guidance appreciated.
  15. Oops. Like steve says...fair play for finishing!!
  16. :laugh1:
  17. Cant wait until this husky comes out now. Played with one at Royal Cornwall Show.....very nice. And the husky guy assured me it was going to be august........not that we havent had promises about this saw before mind you.....
  18. The challenge should be to get it on the deck not including the clear up, unless the ground crew do one tree then the other, using the same guys and the same kit (chippers etc)....otherwise......bring it on!!!!!
  19. I guess it comes down to how good/ close your nearest ifor versus atlas is.
  20. Jeez Nick. Really hoping things turn out for the best for you.....
  21. Until Atlas trailers appeared, i would have said Ifor williams by a million miles, but those atlas trailers look just as god but with a nicer price tag!
  22. stubs!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!!!
  23. I went years and years ago.......once was more than enough for that (IMO) overcommercialised excuse for a festival....
  24. Very neat work. Is it english oak?
