  1. to work on the public highway you are required to apply and book road space . if you fail to do so you are risking a fine in the region of £2500. there was recently an incident down here where a company was carrying out some utillity work and were blocking one lane and had two guys out in the road stopping traffic without and road signs or stop and go boards , infact they should have been using traffic lights . any way there must have been an accidenent in the area because all of a sudden they were faced with several emergency vehicles comming down the road and found themselves stuck in traffic . this was caused by the utilitty contractor no notifying highways which in the end resorted in highway turning up and reading them the riot act before demanding they pack up and do one . I know its a pain in the arse to have to get trained to set up TM equipment but no matter how short the job duration is i will always use TM to do the job , it gives us working on the road added saftey !!!!
  2. well how about we arange it for a weekend , im sure we can arrange to get a camp site sorted as well . and yes tomer we should put our heads together and get something sorted mate
  3. to be honest if its a healthy birch with signs of plenty of young growth then i would not worry to much the sapp is only now starting to rise therefor a 10-15% reduction should not cause the tree any undue stress . take some before and after pictures , it would be nice to see how it turns out .
  4. hiya , firstly how much are you reducing the Birch by and what are the reasons for reducing a young Birch ?? . my best advice is not to go to heavy when reducing it and because of their growth habbit do not go trying to make it look like the perfect lollypop shape try and keep the tree looking as Birch like as possible
  5. down here in cornwall you dont get the privelage of that , i spoke to bt about a 20 pair cable that had a tree sat on it and their reply to me was its not our problem and that if we dammaged their cable then we would be held responsible for paying for the replacement .
  6. well there is more than one of us on here in the west cornwall area that may have some timber for sale . how many tons are you loking for ?
  7. this is true , i was thinking of somewhere like lanhydroc estatr , they have some monster trees in there
  8. pm me if you wanna sell the 361 mate , mine is nearly dead now lol
  9. hiya guys im thinking about organising a recreational tree climbing weekend down here in cornwall but before a set about getting a venue for climbing and camping i thought i would find out if anyone would be interested , idealy it would be based over a bankholliday weekend . so if anyone is interested or if anyone locally would be up for getting envolved in organising it feel free to let me know
  10. how the feck did you crack the oil tank young man ?? as for the handle if you were near me (cornwall) i would more than happily do it for you , i have done a few now but i dont mind saying that the first one that i did was a nightmare as it did all spring out but a bit of thinking and a cool head and you will be able to put it all back together mate . its probably an hours work at the most .
  11. hiya i have a stein helmet and i have found it very comfortable it fits my head well and does not move around too much , i have the peltor ear defenders on it with a smoked visor and find the visor is a bit of a waist of time ! but then again i dont tend to use the visor on my petzel must either . i know you can get the stein with huscy ear defenders and ou can fit a husky visor as well . the only real draw back with the stein is that it gets rather warm in the summer oh and the padding inside the helmet does need washing regularly as it soaks up swet but on the brighter side the inner padding is on little velcro attachment so that you can take it out and was it easily .
  12. i had a similar problem on my tw190 when i had it , i ended up changing the green polly bushes on both rolers and the bottom spline adaptor which solved the problem . have you looked on the side of the roler box beside the bottom and top rolers to see if the rolers have cut into the sides of it ?? that should give you a good indication as to which roler is not level . also i would reccomend new springs to keep the reed rolers tensioned as well because if one side is weaker than the other then you will put more pressure to one side of the rolers which will result in the same problem in another 500 hours or so .
  13. which model timber wolf is it ?? ifr its the 190 i can help you out
  14. tell you what i have some heat dammaged 12mm lowering line i could let you have , im sure it would be nearly as good as the polly prop mate
  15. personally i think that it depends on your requirements of each job . today we have used both the light weight lowering kit and heavy weight lowering kit on the same tree and in some cases we have ben using both at the same time - the heavy lowering kit was taking the weight and the light lowering kit was being used as a break to stop the massive swing frow where we were lowering to the anchor point . to do this we used almost every piece of lowering kit we have . im now looking into getting a bigger and heavyer lowering kit because we realy have had to push out current heavy lowering kit to its limmits.
  16. if you are going to plate it your self i would use 2 dimond shape plate either side of the section of steel but before you weld them on i would grind out the crack and weld it up as well , to do this i would v out the crack and put a route run in before capping the weld off but be sure you have a welder that will happily knock out betwene 200 and 220 amps as you will require a good penetrating weld.
  17. im currently using some New England throwline , i have found it to be very very strong , it light weight and handles really really well , it is also one of the thinner throw lines . personally i would reccomend it and will be buying another when this one has had it but it is lasting really well so i may well be waiting for a while before i but another one
  18. sounds good to me how about we organise a recky tree climbing weekend ?? anyone fancy comming down for it ? im sure i can find some interesting trees to climb and plenty of them
  19. fowey is not far from you , go down to golant youth hostel and have a look down through there woods , it truly is an amazing place , we have just finnished a weeks work up there taking down some big lawsonia's and a few turkey oaks . failing that give me a shout and i will take you round some of the private estates i work on as there are some amazing trees that are not well known about. also bicton college has an amazing monkey puzzle avenue that is well worth a look at on your way down to cornwall
  20. there was a thread on here a few months ago where i asked if anyone knew how to instal the art friction sver from the ground, Drew B did post explaining it , he did explain how to install it including the thereving eye. i have tried and tried to wirk out how its done but still can not get it to work . See what you can do , i would be realy interested to see how its done !!!! well done on your pics above they look really clear and easy to follow
  21. is there any more news on chris ??? i hope he has started to improve now . where abouts is the guy based too ??
  22. does that have the quick release leg loops now , im looking to replace mine but have been waiting untill the newer version comes out , also is it true that there are two types of multislide now , one is light weight and the other is the same as the origionall but a little better ??
  23. i have had my Multislide for nearly 2 years now and still find it just as comfortable as the first day i used it , do you have the new version or has it STILL not been passed for sale ???
  24. hope you had a nice birthday evening mate , hows your back ?? hope you did not get pulled over on the way home

  25. it may well be that the rotor bearings have gone pair shaped mate , my tw190 that i had did something verry similar, check and see how easily you can turn the flywheel round by hand , also was there and major vibration from the machine just before it stopped working ??
