  1. hiya guys thanks for all the posts , got it sorted now . will post some pics at some pointas always !! my newest problem is getting a decent chipper to go behind it , i currently have the use of a tp760 and its sh**e , so im nmow looking for a decent chipper to go behind it . oh the fecking joys of owning a mog !!!!!
  2. i use my lock jack most of the time BUT i still use i distel on ocean pollyester 8mm cord at other times . i have found that the lock jack is one of severasl options available to me but i personally find myself using it on most jobs unless its a small tree or my rope is soaking wet. as for the hitch climber i tried it and could not get on with it, im not saying that its not any good but its just not for me . if you want to know if you would get on with a lock jack the only rerall way to find out is to buy one and give it a month or so . i had never even seen one set up let alone used when i bought my lock jack and friction saver
  3. if you are working for western power distribution you will be expected to have cs 30 , 31 , ua1, ua2.1 , manual handling and first aid oh and w.p.d's own intro course (D746) should you wish to do anything more than drag brash then you will further require cs38,39.40 , Ua 2.2 , 2.3 , WPD LVOH(D744) Dot6 - to enable you to take permits to work etc BUT this is NOT a MUST. hope this is of some use to you . W.P.D are cracking down an awfull lot when it comes to contractors and sub contractors carrying out any line clearence work . i myself was suspended because they did not have a coppy of my certs.
  4. Hiya guys just wondering where thos of you that own a mog are currently getting them insured with .
  5. how close is the closest limb?branch from the wires ?? also is it low voltage or high voltage ?? the ruling it that if it is within 2 tree lengths you shold inform your local power suplier but to be honest unless there is a risk of any part of the tree comming into the live and proximity zones then they really aint to bothered
  6. evening tommer , got an invoice from AplantLux today for the hire of some traffic lights , they want 200 quid for hiring a set for one day and we do all the seting up but it only costs me 140 for a week from them , looks like im buying my own set now and seting up a TM team as well so if ever you need lights or a closeure give me a shout mate or infact anyone in cornwall can !!
  7. great stuff mate , have you got him working yet ?? . its arrived !!!!!
  8. hiya ross , welcome to arbtalk . i will give you a shout when we get something sorted , where you based too mate
  9. how come you didnt feel that it catered for a truck and chipper ?? How many of you guys when using TM actually put a sand bag on each and every sign along with the correct size cone ?? the only reason i ask is because in recent weeks i have heard of several companies being fined serious ammounts of money for not doing either on sites and also being done for folding the signs down and leaving them on the verge over night with a cone on top ready to set them back out the next day
  10. now that would be funny mate . try and think of a few other places
  11. true Brian , i was also thinking of speaking to the yha at fowey
  12. to work on the public highway you are required to apply and book road space . if you fail to do so you are risking a fine in the region of £2500. there was recently an incident down here where a company was carrying out some utillity work and were blocking one lane and had two guys out in the road stopping traffic without and road signs or stop and go boards , infact they should have been using traffic lights . any way there must have been an accidenent in the area because all of a sudden they were faced with several emergency vehicles comming down the road and found themselves stuck in traffic . this was caused by the utilitty contractor no notifying highways which in the end resorted in highway turning up and reading them the riot act before demanding they pack up and do one . I know its a pain in the arse to have to get trained to set up TM equipment but no matter how short the job duration is i will always use TM to do the job , it gives us working on the road added saftey !!!!
  13. well how about we arange it for a weekend , im sure we can arrange to get a camp site sorted as well . and yes tomer we should put our heads together and get something sorted mate
  14. to be honest if its a healthy birch with signs of plenty of young growth then i would not worry to much the sapp is only now starting to rise therefor a 10-15% reduction should not cause the tree any undue stress . take some before and after pictures , it would be nice to see how it turns out .
  15. hiya , firstly how much are you reducing the Birch by and what are the reasons for reducing a young Birch ?? . my best advice is not to go to heavy when reducing it and because of their growth habbit do not go trying to make it look like the perfect lollypop shape try and keep the tree looking as Birch like as possible
  16. down here in cornwall you dont get the privelage of that , i spoke to bt about a 20 pair cable that had a tree sat on it and their reply to me was its not our problem and that if we dammaged their cable then we would be held responsible for paying for the replacement .
  17. well there is more than one of us on here in the west cornwall area that may have some timber for sale . how many tons are you loking for ?
  18. this is true , i was thinking of somewhere like lanhydroc estatr , they have some monster trees in there
  19. pm me if you wanna sell the 361 mate , mine is nearly dead now lol
  20. hiya guys im thinking about organising a recreational tree climbing weekend down here in cornwall but before a set about getting a venue for climbing and camping i thought i would find out if anyone would be interested , idealy it would be based over a bankholliday weekend . so if anyone is interested or if anyone locally would be up for getting envolved in organising it feel free to let me know
  21. how the feck did you crack the oil tank young man ?? as for the handle if you were near me (cornwall) i would more than happily do it for you , i have done a few now but i dont mind saying that the first one that i did was a nightmare as it did all spring out but a bit of thinking and a cool head and you will be able to put it all back together mate . its probably an hours work at the most .
  22. hiya i have a stein helmet and i have found it very comfortable it fits my head well and does not move around too much , i have the peltor ear defenders on it with a smoked visor and find the visor is a bit of a waist of time ! but then again i dont tend to use the visor on my petzel must either . i know you can get the stein with huscy ear defenders and ou can fit a husky visor as well . the only real draw back with the stein is that it gets rather warm in the summer oh and the padding inside the helmet does need washing regularly as it soaks up swet but on the brighter side the inner padding is on little velcro attachment so that you can take it out and was it easily .
  23. i had a similar problem on my tw190 when i had it , i ended up changing the green polly bushes on both rolers and the bottom spline adaptor which solved the problem . have you looked on the side of the roler box beside the bottom and top rolers to see if the rolers have cut into the sides of it ?? that should give you a good indication as to which roler is not level . also i would reccomend new springs to keep the reed rolers tensioned as well because if one side is weaker than the other then you will put more pressure to one side of the rolers which will result in the same problem in another 500 hours or so .
  24. which model timber wolf is it ?? ifr its the 190 i can help you out
  25. tell you what i have some heat dammaged 12mm lowering line i could let you have , im sure it would be nearly as good as the polly prop mate
