  1. did anyone see marco pierre whits toast of britain ?? he went out with a tem hunting the grey squwirell , they were using lopprpoles to disturb the dreys to get the squirrels out so that they could shoot them , nyway Marco got fed up waiting and decided to fire off both barrels the the drey to try and speed things up. funny as feck . But in all seriousnes i did not hear anyone kicking up a stink because of what they were doing at all .
  2. Tell you what tommer , if you give trist a shout see if he wants to get a standard bit for a brace and bit and i will fabricate him an auger for doing the job , i have made a few before , fair enough it will be a PITA having to do it by hand but to be honest i would not use a drill as the speed of the drill can dammage the intenal structure . any way i will try to give him a call later but give him a shout anyway as i may not get chance to call him ,
  3. true and if they cant find one there they can look in the local rag and find one the not only will "lop and top" their trees but will also clean gutters and facias and possibly be up for laying the odd tarmac drive mind you there is a firm back in brians town thats a bit like that and they guarante emaculate tidyupps !!!!
  4. i think that if the climber is doing what he should be doing in the tree then the ground staff should not be getting bogged down with brash , if it happens on my jobs then i wanna know why , if its because the climber is being a fick then he is expected to get down and after a short break then he should much in with the grondies , however if the groundies have not goe their act together and have not got their side of the job sorted and are not working productivley then its tough luck on them . simples !!! this goes for employed climbers or subby climbers, and in my eyes the reason the climber has become a climber is because he/she has mastered doing the ground work and has earnt the right to progress to climbing
  5. we do do quite alot of work for WPD from time to time and to be honest they are not to bad , saying that i did get suspended from cutting because the company i was subbing to had not forwarded this years coppy of my certs - but then again it does show that WPD are on the ball , we also do alot of work for cornwall council which leaves us oppen to an audit from them at any given time without warning which also is a good idea in my eyes , how many of you guys running your own companies has their staff CRB checked ?? just wondering as it is something i have to do this month
  6. not tried the sips yet other than the fredom and fredom 2 , i now use the stretch airs and swear by them , i bought the pair im currently using up at the aa show last year and they are still in great condition cosiddering i have been wearing them 6 days a week every week
  7. i guess you will always have the select few that opperate like that within the industry , in someways i guess it is one way of keeping the decent firms on their toes !!
  8. it is supprising just how many so called tree surgeons work like that ! it sounds prety harsh but im waiting for one of them down this way to have an accident and then watch the sh1t hit the fan lol ,
  9. best you get learning the irish accent then!!!

  11. Cheers for the info mate , i have been looking at one on Earborist that is mounted on a silage trailer but can also be used off of a three point linkage

  13. failing that it your not in a built up area maybe a couple strings of crow babgers would do the trick !!!!
  14. hiya guys , was just wondering if any of you have used the old turner 10" pto wood chippers ?? i have seen one for sale but have no knowlege of them what so ever other than they are now called green mech
  15. we have had a similar problem with a row of pines in a cemetery , last summer we could not do them due to crows nesting and due the their location the winter was way to wet to get near them , i consulted with defra and it turned out that i had to get a liscence to remove the nests at any time of the year because crows are historic creatures and use the same nests each year and often use them all year round , thankfully a year later we are now able to get them down at long last . anyway what i was going to say is the you may well have a long wait ahead of you
  16. If you have tried to use your chainsaw to trim back a hedge you will know it just doesn't work. Apart from that, it's dangerous. If you have tried to use your hedge trimmer to cut back thick hedges, you will know that doesn't work either. Unless you've got a commercial petrol trimmer, you're going to struggle with anything over about 20mm diameter, and thicker growth is impossible to cut through easily. After struggling with my hedges last year I came up with a solution which combines the best attributes of both machines in one. You will need to use a chainsaw as the base machine. The conversion to hedge trimmer uses bolt on parts, and it takes seconds to convert it back again. Using this solution you will be able to trim any size hedge - thin, thick, dense, sparse - it won't matter, this will do it all. If you buy the kit, I will need to know which chainsaw you have (make and model), and what bar size you are using (pitch, gauge and length). You will need to drill at least one and maybe as many as four small diameter holes in your chainsaw bar. There is usually one hole already at the far end of the bar - the number of extra ones is personal choice. Alternatively you can send me your bar and I will fit the conversion part here for you, or I can buy a bar to fit your saw, fit the part, and send it to you once it's all paid for. The cost of the conversion part and fitting instructions is £19.99, plus delivery. If you need a replacement bar the cost will need to be added on. This will work for any chainsaw. Petrol or electric, any bar size, any pitch, any gauge. I use an 18" bar on a Makita UC4020 electric chainsaw. I drilled two extra holes in the bar and to be honest I was a bit worried about weakening it. I have since removed the conversion and used the chainsaw normally, and it has not affected the strength at all. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, but I'm not going to tell you what I did to my chainsaw to make it twice as useful, for half the cost of a hedge trimmer ! Finally I don't expect to sell a single one of these, but if I do I want you as a buyer to know that I as a seller couldn't give a monkey's what you think about the item. I'm happy with it which is why I decide to sell it. If you don't like it - tough. You're an adult, so you should be able to take responsibility for your decisions. If you can't and you're the type of modern day **** who blames everything on someone else and thinks daytime tv chat shows are educational, then don't buy from me. What a salesman
  17. cool cheers Boss , i have found that through my own interest in keeping up to date in the industry and with the help from you guys on arb talk i have learnt about an entire new world of tree climbing , but i do think that some of the new methods should now be being tought on climbing courses , for instance i have just had a goy come back from doing his cs38/39 and to be honest im amazed at how little he has been tought and was even more supprised that alot of the skills i learnt at merrist wood back in 2003 were still not being tought like Branch role's , Re directs , and some of the modern knotts . it may just be me expecting too much !!
  18. feck me that young lad has got some skill , i am more than sure i could not possibly ever achieve that
  19. gret stuff , will try and set that as the ring tone on the other halfs phone , that should slightly annoy her
  20. have you given the guys at treevolution a call ?? i know its a bit of a treck but i have heard nothing but good reports , while we are on the subject is there such thing as a course to learn some of the more modern methods ? i keep wonering as it would be handy for a couple of my guys to go on and probably verry usefull within the industry
  21. its not just the heels that will cause you troubel andy , if your stockings are too tight im prety sure that it will help to problems , any way what the hell are you doing wearing high heels, stockings and chainsaw chaps for ???
  22. hi Andy , as well as taking suplements it may well be worth seeing a fittnes trainer and getting some exercises to build your core strength in your legs , often the bigger muscles develop far greater than the smaller and often more important muscles , this was the case when i dislocated my shoulder the third time , the exercises would be simple and easy enough to do at home with verry little cost . Hope this helps mate
  23. feck that mate its gonne cost your bro , i may lend a small saw (357xp) but will not lend out bigger saws . your looking at roughly £365-£380 . has anyone been playing with the mixtur settings ?? or was it a novis on the saw ?? i had a guy work for me that could not get his silly little head round using the bigger saw's and the fact that you cant just point them at a bit of wood and set them screaming. But on a brighter side it was nice of you to lend a saw to your bro , if my bro was in the same game i dont think i would lend him anything lol afterall he is the competition
  24. nope , have you got any pic's ?? and how does it conform to british standards ie bs kite marks etc ??
  25. cheers for the help and advice chaps , owning a mog really has pred to be a massive learning curve for me , i will give my local motorfactors a call and Bonds . Now my next question is does anyone know of a chenicle that can be put through the air system to clean out any carbon buildups etc ??
