  1. really sounds like your lad has been let down . since his assessment has been paid for then you are intitled to demand an assessment and due to the fact that he has been waiting 6 months to be assessed then he should have a 2 day refresher for free followed by an assessment . i know of an assessment day down here in cornwall next week for cs38 and 39 .
  2. i may well get shot down in flames for this but ......... in my experience in dealing with our local TO's and the LPA in situations like these a tree growing into utilitty cables weather its BT or power lines it actually comes under the utilitty act which does allow the the pruning of trees that are causing dammage to utilitty lines however this will not permit felling , as for timescales i realy do feel that planning applications should be dealt with much more promptly .
  3. tommer really wants a timber trailer dont you !!! lol
  4. i will be interested depending on dates
  5. it most certainly would not lol , i have about 30 tons of pine to take out of a woods that we have recently taken down and i think that would be about all she wrote lol
  6. Great stuff guys , im glad that not everyone here are gun-ho fools with something to prove . maybe Tidytrees should take note !!!!!
  7. AA Arborsit's is a company based in Bodmin in Cornwall, they are mainly a utilitty tree cutting company that have a contract with WPD . the allegation that WPD does not want them cutting is purley a rumour. the contracts in cornwall are comming up for remewal within the next 14 months and there is a large company based just outside Exeter that are verry keen to take all of the contracts in Cornwall or at least as many as they can and yes they are rather popular with wpd . also wpd now requires anyone that wishes to tender for contracts to be a member of an EU register - but this is all i know about it and not at all sure what or who it is .
  8. I do hope that the accusations listed above have some truth to them because i really have a feeling that your posts on this toppic and in particular the post i have added above are the posts of a man thats stuck in the past and rather bitter that the industry has moved on and left you behind . There are set requirements laid down by W.P.D for cutting lv from a mewp and im sure if you had a decant knowlege you would be aware of this .as for bouncing bits off of the line i think most will agree that this really does show your lack of sense, skill and abilitty to do the job . sorry to sound harsh but it really is fools like this that have caused the industry to tighten up so much .
  9. im really not trying to be funny and i know that with regards to N.P.T.C you are correct but down here working for Western Power Distribution the distances of proximity zones and live zones are not the same as N.P.T.C im not sure where tidy trees is from but i can understand the confusion if he is down this way . W.P.D have a an authorisation known as L.V.O.H or D744 this is the training required to work live on lv from a mewp using approved methods of work , in this training they do not mention N.P.T.C zones and meterage . as for the comment about conservatories, watter tanks etc etc you really have no idea have you seen the results of comming into contact of live powerlines ??
  10. thanks steve , we have been thinking of changing the chip box but still cant work out weather to get a reversing plate for the front pto and front mount a chipper or not .
  11. seems like you have some sound advice beig given to you , if your loking for a decent chipper give steven Blair a shout , i think he may well have just the chiper for you !!!
  12. if i had the cash then i would buy it for sure , the only draw back is that it is only crane fed and does not have any safty bars to allow you to feed it by hand - well thats going on what i can see in the pic .
  13. ok will get my fitter to do it tomorrow , is it a long job ??? i was looking at trying to do them in situ but not sure it its possible or not , does anyone know what size a tp 760 will chip ?? i was thinking it chips around 9 inches but since i have now used it im not so sure !!!
  14. I heard that bob keeps a M.E.W.P along side as a fool proof means of getting down .
  15. tell you what tommer can you get me two husky cans while your at it please . ta sweetnes:laugh1:
  16. yeh i think that will be the answer for now , we have been using the mog to carry timber in the chip box which works well as long as your 9ft6 lol
  17. i have tried the stihl clear, husky orrange , and the Oregon red, personally the stihl cans are easy to store due to their cube like shape but i do find the the fillers break for a pass time and have found that as the cans get to about two years old they start to leak from thecorners on the base of the can - this is because they are made too thinly IMO and finally we do tend to find that the stihl cans can be a pain in the arse to fill the smaller huskys with (357) , the husky cans are much more durable but i find that the filler tends to stick after a while but other than that i can not complain. as for the oregon can it tends to stay in the yard untill we need more than 6 cans of fuel but it does accept the stihl filer caps and all in all is an ok fuel can . if stihl were to sort out the filler caps and the thin corners on the base of the cans then i would not hessitate in only using them but i think in future i will buy the oregon cans and use the stihl filer caps that we have
  18. well the tp760 does not seem to feed that well and looks like the blades on the feed rolers are worn but having looked on the tinterweb at other 760's they are all the same , it is not tall enough to chip into the mog and i dont think that it will chip big enough timber either , what chippers are you guys using behind your mogs ??
  19. thanks for the advice steve , i think it will be a while before i buy a timber trailer but thought i would get looking for what i will be wanting .
  20. its still a touchy subject im afraid , i cant really go into what was or was not said by anyone sorry
