  1. seems like you have some sound advice beig given to you , if your loking for a decent chipper give steven Blair a shout , i think he may well have just the chiper for you !!!
  2. if i had the cash then i would buy it for sure , the only draw back is that it is only crane fed and does not have any safty bars to allow you to feed it by hand - well thats going on what i can see in the pic .
  3. ok will get my fitter to do it tomorrow , is it a long job ??? i was looking at trying to do them in situ but not sure it its possible or not , does anyone know what size a tp 760 will chip ?? i was thinking it chips around 9 inches but since i have now used it im not so sure !!!
  4. I heard that bob keeps a M.E.W.P along side as a fool proof means of getting down .
  5. tell you what tommer can you get me two husky cans while your at it please . ta sweetnes:laugh1:
  6. yeh i think that will be the answer for now , we have been using the mog to carry timber in the chip box which works well as long as your 9ft6 lol
  7. i have tried the stihl clear, husky orrange , and the Oregon red, personally the stihl cans are easy to store due to their cube like shape but i do find the the fillers break for a pass time and have found that as the cans get to about two years old they start to leak from thecorners on the base of the can - this is because they are made too thinly IMO and finally we do tend to find that the stihl cans can be a pain in the arse to fill the smaller huskys with (357) , the husky cans are much more durable but i find that the filler tends to stick after a while but other than that i can not complain. as for the oregon can it tends to stay in the yard untill we need more than 6 cans of fuel but it does accept the stihl filer caps and all in all is an ok fuel can . if stihl were to sort out the filler caps and the thin corners on the base of the cans then i would not hessitate in only using them but i think in future i will buy the oregon cans and use the stihl filer caps that we have
  8. well the tp760 does not seem to feed that well and looks like the blades on the feed rolers are worn but having looked on the tinterweb at other 760's they are all the same , it is not tall enough to chip into the mog and i dont think that it will chip big enough timber either , what chippers are you guys using behind your mogs ??
  9. thanks for the advice steve , i think it will be a while before i buy a timber trailer but thought i would get looking for what i will be wanting .
  10. its still a touchy subject im afraid , i cant really go into what was or was not said by anyone sorry

  14. hiya guys thanks for all the posts , got it sorted now . will post some pics at some pointas always !! my newest problem is getting a decent chipper to go behind it , i currently have the use of a tp760 and its sh**e , so im nmow looking for a decent chipper to go behind it . oh the fecking joys of owning a mog !!!!!
  15. i use my lock jack most of the time BUT i still use i distel on ocean pollyester 8mm cord at other times . i have found that the lock jack is one of severasl options available to me but i personally find myself using it on most jobs unless its a small tree or my rope is soaking wet. as for the hitch climber i tried it and could not get on with it, im not saying that its not any good but its just not for me . if you want to know if you would get on with a lock jack the only rerall way to find out is to buy one and give it a month or so . i had never even seen one set up let alone used when i bought my lock jack and friction saver
  16. if you are working for western power distribution you will be expected to have cs 30 , 31 , ua1, ua2.1 , manual handling and first aid oh and w.p.d's own intro course (D746) should you wish to do anything more than drag brash then you will further require cs38,39.40 , Ua 2.2 , 2.3 , WPD LVOH(D744) Dot6 - to enable you to take permits to work etc BUT this is NOT a MUST. hope this is of some use to you . W.P.D are cracking down an awfull lot when it comes to contractors and sub contractors carrying out any line clearence work . i myself was suspended because they did not have a coppy of my certs.
  17. Hiya guys just wondering where thos of you that own a mog are currently getting them insured with .
  18. how close is the closest limb?branch from the wires ?? also is it low voltage or high voltage ?? the ruling it that if it is within 2 tree lengths you shold inform your local power suplier but to be honest unless there is a risk of any part of the tree comming into the live and proximity zones then they really aint to bothered
  19. evening tommer , got an invoice from AplantLux today for the hire of some traffic lights , they want 200 quid for hiring a set for one day and we do all the seting up but it only costs me 140 for a week from them , looks like im buying my own set now and seting up a TM team as well so if ever you need lights or a closeure give me a shout mate or infact anyone in cornwall can !!
  20. great stuff mate , have you got him working yet ?? . its arrived !!!!!
  21. hiya ross , welcome to arbtalk . i will give you a shout when we get something sorted , where you based too mate
  22. how come you didnt feel that it catered for a truck and chipper ?? How many of you guys when using TM actually put a sand bag on each and every sign along with the correct size cone ?? the only reason i ask is because in recent weeks i have heard of several companies being fined serious ammounts of money for not doing either on sites and also being done for folding the signs down and leaving them on the verge over night with a cone on top ready to set them back out the next day
  23. now that would be funny mate . try and think of a few other places
  24. true Brian , i was also thinking of speaking to the yha at fowey
