  1. i really do think the police will not pay any attention untill some one ends up cathcing them in the act and nearly kills or actually kills one of them and it aint going to be the thiefs that get sent down for it . i wonder how you stand if you put up warning signs that there is a risk of electrocution and or death arround your yard and electorfied a shipping container within your workshop at night to put your saws etc in ?? i have been verry tempted
  2. have a look in the southwest auto trader , there is a company that sells ex bt fleet trucks , i have seen a couple 05-07 plate transits on there already converted for tree surgery for about 10k and look nicely done .
  3. that does take the p**s a bit , that really gets me when someone gets you in to number and survey all of their tree stock and then does not have the decentcy to contact you and tell you that they have had a cheeper quote on paper and would you be interested in discussing money with them . i trust you will charge for your time tagging the trees and inspecting them . Thats presumint that the other contractor worked from your schedual
  4. lol bring your climbing gear , on only round the corner in a place called Feock lol
  5. will send you a pm
  6. that looks like one of the earlt tp road tow chippers john
  7. good stuff tommer , looks like you will be helping be change the rear cross member as its got a little bit of rot round the jacking points oh and not sure what to do about the bit of rust on the top corners of the belkhead
  8. hiya im not sure how much this will hepl but give John Hurle a call , i know he is right down in cornwall but he is short of work and i know he has 1 or 2 coss there . let me know if you want his number any way hope this helps
  9. thanks for all of your replies and advice chaps , i have had a look into the work required to get my chipper working again and have decided that it will be going to Holt Jcb (my local tw dealers) for then to sort out , at least that way if they get it wrong i have some come back , the decision came after chatting to the guys at timberwolf earlyer today , i fully understand the principles of backlash when it comes to flywheels and bearings but to be honest when they explained the complexity of what has to be done and the fact the the bearings checked to see if they are corect by mesuring the temp of the bearings after running the machine up for ten mins i felt that it was a little to easy to feck it up . And lets be honest im a tre surgeon not a mechanical fitter or enginer , so i will leave it to guys who know exactly what they are doing . but once again thank you all verry much and a big thanks to steve and timber Wolf for setting up a help room on here i can ihghly reccomend it to anyone with a timberwolf
  10. Thanks timbewolf , i will be taking the machine to a dealer to have the work done as i really do not have the time to be trying to do the work . i have heard that when these bearings go it normally damages the rotor . Is that the case normally ?? also where in cornwall is there to take the chipper to have the work done by guys that know what they are doing ?? i know Holt jcb are now the approved dealer down here but im not sure just how much the fiters know about timberwolfs or how much they have done with a 190 before , only asking as they have not been dealers for long at all Many thanks again Dave
  11. i totally agree , but it is guite clear when you look at a broken weld you can normally see just how much penetration there was , in the case of this guys welding i would say there was next to none , the box sections that were welded have come appart leaving the weld on one section and the other piece of box section looks to be clean , it was proven he could not weld to save his life then the doors to the tool box all but fell of - once again the weld had faile probably due to poor prep work , poor welding skills , only using co2 and not argoshield , and low power diy welder . i think it was a combination of most if not all of the above
  12. that is one of the verry first chippers of that kind , when green mech were testing it out and sending out for firms to use so that they could get some feed back they painted it yellow and it would not of had any stickers on either , they do this with every chipper they bring out , bet who ever owns that one got it dirt cheep
  13. i may well have a big job coming up near fowey , i will give you a shout , do you have any utility certs ??
  14. wicked thanks mate , i think its going to be faster to do the work my self , well once i know exactly whats wrong with it
  15. your better to buy what you need individually and gradually addf to your kit as you need more . so what are you traiding as then mate ?? im down in penzance
  16. yeah i will post pics as soon as i pick it up
  17. im still really happy with our tw190 , i have found that the green mech is not the tidyest of chippers , it spits a fair bit back at you and is a pain in the arse to get all the chip into the truck
  18. i never thought it would happen but it has lol , well lets be honest at less then 2k for a decent condition landy i cant complain , only 2 pros are that the blower dont work and there is a little rust on the N/S of the bulk head just under the vent , but hey who cares its cheep
  19. sorry to ruin the thread but thought i would ask how you get on with the 10 inch green mech ?? only asking as i have just had a road tow version dropped down to me on hire untill i get my timber wolf running again
  20. all that im not sure of is the whole latteral loading bit , im really tempted to do it my self . this is wjhat i get for living in fecking cornwall !!!!
  21. i gave doug a call and spoke to one of the fitters but to my supprise they have never worked on a 190 !!! looks like it may well have to go to the new dealers in cornwall - holt jcb but then again i did call them yesterday and they have not evebn had the decentcy to call me back to get it booked in
  22. i have found my skylotec to be really comfortable and kind on the old wedding vegatables lol
  23. i could well be interested as it seems i may well have bought a 110 high cap landy on a j plate
  24. the problem with the nfu is that they have several offices regionaly and each office makes decisions on what they will or will not do for you insurance wise but when it comes to a claim there is only one office that deals with the claim , in my mates case he had some kit stolen , the local office said that they would cover it but claims said no , in the end they met half way but still not good
  25. hiya im really hoping you can hepl me out . we were using out 190 yeasterday on site all morning when suddenly the chipper sounded like it has stalled while we were chipping, at the same time a cloud of whitey bluey smoke came from the engine box and it smelt like burnt belts , then it started to pick up again but the whole machine was then vibrating realy badly , i have looked at the engine and all looks to be ok , the engine still sounds sweet when we started it up , but there is still alot of vibration and a mettaly sound . any ideas as to what it could be ?? i was guessing that as the chipper has not done a tought 650 hours that it may well be the bearings gone . if so is are the parts costly and with a moderate ammount of mechanicle knowlege could a do the repair my self ?? many thanks Dave @ combined tree services 07790206316
