  1. if it helps at all merrist wood have had one lad die there and two more lads hav had serious falls there , jack kenyon was telling us when we got there that the hse had only just allowed them to teach tree climbing again because a lad had fallen out of a tree on the course before us , he then told us to get our climbing kit s ready as we were going for a climb in the campus woods ha ha he's a great chap lol
  2. personally i would go for a Transit if you are not in need of four wheel drive , i used to have a Transit tipper and that would carry much more chip than a cabstar and proably two and a half times what my ranger tipper will hold .
  3. hmmm you guys should get tommer it to tow people out , i have heard he can tow ywo artic lorries , a macsalvors crane and an ice cream truck !!!And that before he has to put his rot box into low ratio ha ha ha ha
  4. thats bread and butter reduction, and you ALL know it, so stop talking utter crap! it looked more like a reduction with excessive thinig that has caused lion tailing , i totally understand that what the customer asks for the customer is meant to get BUT i do find if verry hard to agree with . If the customer were to ask you to wear spikes whilst doing the reduction would you do it ?? im not aiming this question at you in specific its aimed generally,
  5. personally i would not bother with a crew cab tipper , i have a single cab ranger with a tipper on it and to be honest that gets filled quickly enough , i would hate to lose another couple feet off the tipper , also would there not bee too much weigh loaded over the back axle ?
  6. sadly i still choaker my saw strop on to my ms200's but my give the dmm carab a go on the lock jack
  7. the end product looks astheticly pleasing but i think that in some ways he has made a bit of a rod for his own back because there looks to be quite a bit of lion tailing throughout the canory , im not knocking you im mearly expressing my oppinion.I thimk we have all been in this situation at some point or another , i was asked to take the entire side of a semi mature oak off just so that the client could get sky television , i tried my best to exlpain that its totally against bs standards and more than that it goes totally against the grain for me personally , i tried reducing the one side whist being sympathetic and it did not woro so in the end i did have to do as he wanted , personally i would rather have felled the tree rather than leave it in the condition that i did Thank god its only the owner that can see it !!!!!
  8. personally i think that it could look pretty ropey if im honest , depending on the thickness/densitty of the hedge i think i would be inclined to lay the smaller diamiter growth , rermove some of the bigger stuff and possibly selectivly leave some of the Maple ,but i can totally understand that it is totally up to the client at the end of the day but i would try to deter him from laying the whole hedge . Once again this is only my opinion on it . good luck tho and hope all goes well
  9. takes hours but you get there in the end , that pile you did the other day looked just like you had used a log splitter on the back of a brown david
  10. carving and firewood are the same thing aint they:sneaky2:
  11. brian missplaced our toolbox the other day in a woods and some thieving git picked it up what makes it worse is that it had is starting handle for the cab star in it as well
  12. well she is plated now for 100 ton so i recon we can do , i just worry about where we will put the tool box once its loaded bri:sneaky2: dont think we will need to strap any of the timber down tho do you ??
  13. buy the fooking lot bri
  14. great stuff bri mate , but a word of advice mate , dont tell then about the carving you did of the sydney oppera house , i dont think the tate could deal with all the added viewings ha ha
  15. if you need short term work then give cannon horticulture a call , i know it aint tree work but its a decent job with a decent employer , i used to be the area supervisor for plymouth and conwall and they looked after me throughout my time there as both area supervisor on the hort side and as teram leader on the tree surgery side , the only let down is that there is no tree team down here any more . sadly i dont have a number to hand but the guy for the plymouth area that you need to speak to is called Dean Braidy
  16. hes even better at loafs of bread ha ha ha
  17. i used to do alot of contracting to a compny called Fujitsu and they used the cis sytem and to be honest at first i was gutted as the extra money would have gone a long way towards kit but i realised that at the end of the tax year i had alredy paid off my tax bill and stiull had a bit to come back to me which took the worry out of paying a tax bill for sure ,
  18. Paul i have tried to help and given you names of companies and where possible the name of the person you need to speak to , take for instance silvanus - they are currently using a team that usually wors down in mid cornwall to cover the tree cutting on a wpd contract in plymouth because they are so short staffed , i am not in any way trying to put you down at all im trying to help you out !! i would not hessitate in saying what i think paul , but if you feel that im putting you down then its your problem mate i was actually trying to explain that sometimes it does not look good when you have worked for several different companies in the same area in a short space of time , yes you have done some jobbing work for companies but you started this thread talking about employment not subby work .
  19. alot of what drives these people is drugs , like it or not there is no excuse for it , i am sick of hearing how elderly members of the community have been mugged, had there houses broken into and left spending the resto of their life in feart that the thieving drugtaking little scrote may cum back for another go just so that he has enough Money to score from his dealer who in most cases will be more than happy to accept money that has come from such circumstances - i openly have no time for it full stop , its about time people stopped being ultra sensitive and accepted that the softly softly approach that has been being attempted for so long now is not working and that a tougher stance is required. As for minorities i9 think you will find that the decent honest hard working members of socioty are now the minority in this country
  20. to be honest paul i would not be to haisty on getting your name around because you have worked for several companies in a shor time , i would be inclined to take my time and get the right job and then concentrate on building your skills as a climber and getting your name about for being a decant hardworking guy that climbs well as well , I personally am quite scepticle when guys come to me that have worked for ghod knows how many people in a relativley short time scale . but this is only my oppinion and hope all goes well for you
  21. Paul to be honest i think you will be hard pushed to get a job with a smaller company in the plymouth area , and to be honest if you can get a job with a bigger company i would do it and get some decent experience under your belt , another place you could try is the citty council as they have there own tree teams
  22. keep posting mate any pictures of you doing any doughnuts in the ford are there
  23. chavs are certainly not a minority down here in cornwall i saw a pensioner walking towards tommers house the other day wearing a pair on nike air max trainers(pure white) , Adidas trackies which were halfway down his arse to display his Burbery tarten boxers , a lecost polo shirt , and Kappa trackie top on !!!! oh and listening to a bit of fifty pence. To be honest i was not to sure weather it was DangerousBrian or not ha ha
