  1. cheers for the advice chaps , i think i will have a look to see if it is the bearings tomorrow after work , but for now i will have a look for the timberwolf help bit on here lol
  2. correct but one of the "rules" is that headlights must be aligned correctly and secured in place , they should also be in a servicable condition ! i dont think that abletying them in the wrong position would pass an mot - well i have thats according to the mot inspector at the dealership anyway .
  3. 6 months is a long time but in fairnes the problems only came to light when the vehicle was taken into a ford dealership , i had already had problems within the first month and the chap was not willing to sort it out then , thankfull i have kept all the pm's from him and to him on here , i would not normally go this far but surly when it becomes clear that the work he carried out was sub standard and has now resulted in the truck becoming dangerous then something has to be done ??
  4. hiya chaps , we were using our tw190 yesterday all morning just like normall when suddenly the chipper sounded like it had stalled and a puff of bluey white rubbery smelling smoke came from around the engine bay (not from the exaust) then the chipper started to speed back up to working speed but now there is a really bad vabration that causes the chipper to nearly bounce off of the tyres , i have looked to see if something has been fed in that should not have been and the answer is no , the belts are all ok and tensioned , mechanicly the engine seems to be fine oh and there is no sign of dammage to any of the fans on the back of the flywheel and no dammage to the flywheel its self . i can only think that the flywheel bearings have gone , if so is it a big job to do ?? i was looking at trying to do the work our selves but not sure if thats possible . your advice would be greatly appreciated:thumbup:
  5. if i were you i would put it in an envelope address it to him and stick it in the post box minus the stamp lol
  6. nope this came from near birmingham mate
  7. thats inflation for you mate , glad you got to the bottom of it though , and without to much expense:thumbup:
  8. i realy hope it does not have to go that far too , but its now going to be left in the habds of vosa , i just realy hope that who ever did the mot was not a friend or member of family to the guy who sold it to me .
  9. ebay mate thats where i got mine from , i think i looked under Denso hi torque starter
  10. great job john , i would rather you than me !! i trust you were taking the pictures and overseeing opperations lol
  11. thanks for the replies guys , the truck is being inspected by V.O.S.A within the next two weeks , it went in for an mot inspection and the guy was amazed it managed to get an mot just before i bought it as the head lights have been cable tied in , when they changed the wing they simply cut the old one off with a grinder and welded the new one on to what was left , the eletricks were bodged and as i said in my first post the welds are now breaking on the tipper chassis !! oh and to make it worse it was actually sold to me by a fellow Arbtalker
  12. yeah thats spot on mate , im realy glad that you even went out of your way to get one of the smaller cones for mark to put on his head so that he does not suffer fatigue and to fullfill the manual handeling at work regs ha ha ha , i trust tomorrow you will have him carrying out a full contraflow on the m25 ?? (might nedd a flash jacket for that though lmao:laugh1:
  13. hiya guys im hoping some of you may well have some advice for me - about 6 months ago a bought a vehicle for work , i went up to see the vehicle and all seemed to be ok , i was made aware that the vehicle had been in a cat c shunt but the repair work had been carried out by a "professional" everything appeared to be good with the vehicle so i paid for it prat cash and part company cheque , anyway since then i have had several serious problems with it of which i have put down to experiance but where do you draw the line ?? today i noticed that one of the welds on the tipper frame had actually broke not although im no expert welder i know that a weld shold never break as a decent weld is in fact stronger than the metal thats been welded . im seriously looking to take action now as its really not funny anymore ! the implications of what could happen should another weld fail does not bare thinking about so im really just looking for some advice really .
  14. well as long as you have documented it in your risk assessment im sure its ok !!!!
  15. yeah slowly but surely im catching you up mate , glad you got your insurance sorted mate . where is best to take the timberwolf round here to get fixed ??!!!!!!!!!
  16. well well tommer you must have gone up in the world to be buying from them lol , i trust the boys on the counter were polite and helpfull as always ?? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. dont panic maye that was 2 years ago , im now 26 lol dad:sneaky2:
  18. i assume you were at radmore's then tom ?? you be carefull up there in exeter in the big smoke !! ha ha
  19. yeah you will require street works training mate , highways departments have taken on guys specificly for stopping illegal stree works activity and the setting out of traffic managment equipment , and yes there are some serious fines to be given out . without sounding to rude i would like to point out that what was known as chapter8 has sort of been done away with not and is now covered by street works and there are several scheems out there that you can do , but personally before looking into doing any training i would get hold of a coppy of the street works manual and have a good read . there is far mor to it than meets the eye
  20. we had a 6 inch vairy track chipper on demmo for 3 weeks and we used it to pull trees over , tow the cabstar up a steepish slope , and drag timber lengths out of a woods . i recon that a tracked chipper would pull a small ish trailer , i guess it depends on how easily the trailer can get stuck with a full load on .
  21. not too diferent to a monkey puzel lol , i think i would cover my self in Celox before i even started climbing that lmao
  22. give Trust a call mate a bet you they will have figures for you within 48 hours
  23. i have been with trust for 4 years now and was chatting to then about renewing my insurance two weeks ago , i did say that i was going to get comparetive quotes and they actually asked me to get back to them - i have not got any quotes yet but i will be doing that this week . anyway a little further into the conversation i was chatting about switching betwene insurance companies for pl,el and fleet cover , they told me quite simply that it is proven that you can get better renewel quotes if you stay with one company as your seen as a preferable customer and that they will give bigger discounts to you and much much better offers , also they were saying that it really does help to be honest when filling in questions about turnover , etc etc as that too can reduce the premium . last but not least how many insurance companies do any of you know that will let a 24 year old bloke stick his subaru impreza on the fleet policy as a company vehicle ??
  24. i have a Navara and a for ranger and if im honest the navara is much more comfortable and as the navara is a sport its got a bit more go in it compared to the ranger lol , but then the ranger is just a work truck .
  25. i have been with trust for 4 years and have got quotes from others and to be honest trust are still the most competetive .
