  1. alloy bashlins with velcro pads are the muts knutts imo
  2. thats interesting , down here we have two dealers , one dealer passes their discount on to the customer and the other does not . if i were to move away i would keep using the dealer that is passing me on a decent discount from down here . personally i feel this is simply still trying to flex their muscles as they are one of the two main industry leaders .
  3. i have a husky 288 that was made in 97 , can still get new parts and the saw is stil;l in use most days , great saws imo
  4. how fresh does the chip have to be ?? do you buy chip inn ??
  5. ha ha ha ha funny as fook !!!!!!
  6. well why not try asking him for another of those crisp looking notes ?? that should cover it mate:sneaky2:
  7. How long have you been working ior this guy ?? i had a similar situation where i was laid off when i worke for a company in devon , in fact 5 of us got laid off because the boss had lost the plot and had not bothered to get any work in. The jobs we were being sent to were quite often jobs that the company had not which left us in an awkwar situation when the customer is not in so you get on with the job in hand only to find halfway through the job the client comes home and asks what the hell we are doing there as we did not get the job. Any way the point that im making is that we were liad off and i was totally honest with the boss and told him how i felt about the whole situation and that i could not believe that he was laying off the decent climbers and keeping on the lads fresh out of college all because they cost less !. any way within 4 weeks the other 4 guys were offered their jobs back and they took them , i had not found another job yet but i did not take my old job back however the other guys that did ended up getting laid off again within 6 months meanwhille i had found another much more decent job. The point im trying to make is that sometimes employers will try to un knowingly take the p**s to a certain degree . if you worked for the council im pretty sure you would not be sent home because the weather was not too good . i have guys working for me and down here in cornwall the weather is verry un predictable but still they all work 5 days a week no matter what . as much as i need to pay the bills and live my self so do they so it is not an option to ask them to use their holiday to cover the time where i work is slack or the weather is bad and when the holiday runs out i most certainly would not expect them to lose a days pay because the weather is bad . back in the middle of winter we had about a week and a half of really bad weather what would they have survived on if i told them to stay home with no pay ?? i would expect them to tell me where to go .
  8. what does your statment of terms and conditions of employment (contract) state ??? personally i dont think he can force you to take holidays when he decides , as for making you take time off because of poor weather i think if you allow this to go on you will be spending lots of time at home !!! lets be honest the weather here in the uk is not too great .
  9. thanks paul will do !! hows everything going with you ??
  10. cool , will pm him mate , cheers for the info
  11. not sure mate hope so though
  12. as the title says i have reduced the price of my timberwolf purly to get it sold . the chipper has just had the rotor bearings changed by my local dealer and earlyer in the year we had all of the reed roler polly bearings changed , the chipper really is a bargain at 6k . iuf anyone is interested feel free to have a look at it in the clasifiieds and feel free to call me on the mob no provided Cheers Dave
  13. hiya thanks for your reply , i dropped the chipper into Holt JCB on friday , they stripped the machine down today and have ordered the new bearings , according to them the Rotor is fine . thanks for all your advice though .
  14. i guess it could be because they have had experiences of cam belts breaking before they need changing , or they could just be drumming up work , i would email pug and find out mate
  15. i really do think the police will not pay any attention untill some one ends up cathcing them in the act and nearly kills or actually kills one of them and it aint going to be the thiefs that get sent down for it . i wonder how you stand if you put up warning signs that there is a risk of electrocution and or death arround your yard and electorfied a shipping container within your workshop at night to put your saws etc in ?? i have been verry tempted
  16. have a look in the southwest auto trader , there is a company that sells ex bt fleet trucks , i have seen a couple 05-07 plate transits on there already converted for tree surgery for about 10k and look nicely done .
  17. that does take the p**s a bit , that really gets me when someone gets you in to number and survey all of their tree stock and then does not have the decentcy to contact you and tell you that they have had a cheeper quote on paper and would you be interested in discussing money with them . i trust you will charge for your time tagging the trees and inspecting them . Thats presumint that the other contractor worked from your schedual
  18. lol bring your climbing gear , on only round the corner in a place called Feock lol
  19. will send you a pm
  20. that looks like one of the earlt tp road tow chippers john
  21. good stuff tommer , looks like you will be helping be change the rear cross member as its got a little bit of rot round the jacking points oh and not sure what to do about the bit of rust on the top corners of the belkhead
  22. hiya im not sure how much this will hepl but give John Hurle a call , i know he is right down in cornwall but he is short of work and i know he has 1 or 2 coss there . let me know if you want his number any way hope this helps
  23. thanks for all of your replies and advice chaps , i have had a look into the work required to get my chipper working again and have decided that it will be going to Holt Jcb (my local tw dealers) for then to sort out , at least that way if they get it wrong i have some come back , the decision came after chatting to the guys at timberwolf earlyer today , i fully understand the principles of backlash when it comes to flywheels and bearings but to be honest when they explained the complexity of what has to be done and the fact the the bearings checked to see if they are corect by mesuring the temp of the bearings after running the machine up for ten mins i felt that it was a little to easy to feck it up . And lets be honest im a tre surgeon not a mechanical fitter or enginer , so i will leave it to guys who know exactly what they are doing . but once again thank you all verry much and a big thanks to steve and timber Wolf for setting up a help room on here i can ihghly reccomend it to anyone with a timberwolf
  24. Thanks timbewolf , i will be taking the machine to a dealer to have the work done as i really do not have the time to be trying to do the work . i have heard that when these bearings go it normally damages the rotor . Is that the case normally ?? also where in cornwall is there to take the chipper to have the work done by guys that know what they are doing ?? i know Holt jcb are now the approved dealer down here but im not sure just how much the fiters know about timberwolfs or how much they have done with a 190 before , only asking as they have not been dealers for long at all Many thanks again Dave
  25. i totally agree , but it is guite clear when you look at a broken weld you can normally see just how much penetration there was , in the case of this guys welding i would say there was next to none , the box sections that were welded have come appart leaving the weld on one section and the other piece of box section looks to be clean , it was proven he could not weld to save his life then the doors to the tool box all but fell of - once again the weld had faile probably due to poor prep work , poor welding skills , only using co2 and not argoshield , and low power diy welder . i think it was a combination of most if not all of the above
