  1. personally i think that it depends on your requirements of each job . today we have used both the light weight lowering kit and heavy weight lowering kit on the same tree and in some cases we have ben using both at the same time - the heavy lowering kit was taking the weight and the light lowering kit was being used as a break to stop the massive swing frow where we were lowering to the anchor point . to do this we used almost every piece of lowering kit we have . im now looking into getting a bigger and heavyer lowering kit because we realy have had to push out current heavy lowering kit to its limmits.
  2. if you are going to plate it your self i would use 2 dimond shape plate either side of the section of steel but before you weld them on i would grind out the crack and weld it up as well , to do this i would v out the crack and put a route run in before capping the weld off but be sure you have a welder that will happily knock out betwene 200 and 220 amps as you will require a good penetrating weld.
  3. im currently using some New England throwline , i have found it to be very very strong , it light weight and handles really really well , it is also one of the thinner throw lines . personally i would reccomend it and will be buying another when this one has had it but it is lasting really well so i may well be waiting for a while before i but another one

  5. fowey is not far from you , go down to golant youth hostel and have a look down through there woods , it truly is an amazing place , we have just finnished a weeks work up there taking down some big lawsonia's and a few turkey oaks . failing that give me a shout and i will take you round some of the private estates i work on as there are some amazing trees that are not well known about. also bicton college has an amazing monkey puzzle avenue that is well worth a look at on your way down to cornwall
  6. there was a thread on here a few months ago where i asked if anyone knew how to instal the art friction sver from the ground, Drew B did post explaining it , he did explain how to install it including the thereving eye. i have tried and tried to wirk out how its done but still can not get it to work . See what you can do , i would be realy interested to see how its done !!!! well done on your pics above they look really clear and easy to follow
  7. is there any more news on chris ??? i hope he has started to improve now . where abouts is the guy based too ??
  8. does that have the quick release leg loops now , im looking to replace mine but have been waiting untill the newer version comes out , also is it true that there are two types of multislide now , one is light weight and the other is the same as the origionall but a little better ??
  9. i have had my Multislide for nearly 2 years now and still find it just as comfortable as the first day i used it , do you have the new version or has it STILL not been passed for sale ???
  10. hope you had a nice birthday evening mate , hows your back ?? hope you did not get pulled over on the way home

  11. it may well be that the rotor bearings have gone pair shaped mate , my tw190 that i had did something verry similar, check and see how easily you can turn the flywheel round by hand , also was there and major vibration from the machine just before it stopped working ??
  12. alloy bashlins with velcro pads are the muts knutts imo
  13. thats interesting , down here we have two dealers , one dealer passes their discount on to the customer and the other does not . if i were to move away i would keep using the dealer that is passing me on a decent discount from down here . personally i feel this is simply still trying to flex their muscles as they are one of the two main industry leaders .
  14. i have a husky 288 that was made in 97 , can still get new parts and the saw is stil;l in use most days , great saws imo
  15. how fresh does the chip have to be ?? do you buy chip inn ??
  16. ha ha ha ha funny as fook !!!!!!
  17. well why not try asking him for another of those crisp looking notes ?? that should cover it mate:sneaky2:
  18. How long have you been working ior this guy ?? i had a similar situation where i was laid off when i worke for a company in devon , in fact 5 of us got laid off because the boss had lost the plot and had not bothered to get any work in. The jobs we were being sent to were quite often jobs that the company had not which left us in an awkwar situation when the customer is not in so you get on with the job in hand only to find halfway through the job the client comes home and asks what the hell we are doing there as we did not get the job. Any way the point that im making is that we were liad off and i was totally honest with the boss and told him how i felt about the whole situation and that i could not believe that he was laying off the decent climbers and keeping on the lads fresh out of college all because they cost less !. any way within 4 weeks the other 4 guys were offered their jobs back and they took them , i had not found another job yet but i did not take my old job back however the other guys that did ended up getting laid off again within 6 months meanwhille i had found another much more decent job. The point im trying to make is that sometimes employers will try to un knowingly take the p**s to a certain degree . if you worked for the council im pretty sure you would not be sent home because the weather was not too good . i have guys working for me and down here in cornwall the weather is verry un predictable but still they all work 5 days a week no matter what . as much as i need to pay the bills and live my self so do they so it is not an option to ask them to use their holiday to cover the time where i work is slack or the weather is bad and when the holiday runs out i most certainly would not expect them to lose a days pay because the weather is bad . back in the middle of winter we had about a week and a half of really bad weather what would they have survived on if i told them to stay home with no pay ?? i would expect them to tell me where to go .
  19. what does your statment of terms and conditions of employment (contract) state ??? personally i dont think he can force you to take holidays when he decides , as for making you take time off because of poor weather i think if you allow this to go on you will be spending lots of time at home !!! lets be honest the weather here in the uk is not too great .
  20. thanks paul will do !! hows everything going with you ??
  21. cool , will pm him mate , cheers for the info
  22. not sure mate hope so though
  23. as the title says i have reduced the price of my timberwolf purly to get it sold . the chipper has just had the rotor bearings changed by my local dealer and earlyer in the year we had all of the reed roler polly bearings changed , the chipper really is a bargain at 6k . iuf anyone is interested feel free to have a look at it in the clasifiieds and feel free to call me on the mob no provided Cheers Dave
  24. hiya thanks for your reply , i dropped the chipper into Holt JCB on friday , they stripped the machine down today and have ordered the new bearings , according to them the Rotor is fine . thanks for all your advice though .
  25. i guess it could be because they have had experiences of cam belts breaking before they need changing , or they could just be drumming up work , i would email pug and find out mate
