  1. some pictures would be great ,, why do you feel that Re-pollarding is required?? is it that the trees location and targets require it to be reduced / pollarded ???? personally if i could fence the area off i would leave the tree naturally grow down , this was something i learnt jrom Jack Kenyon and Ted Green whilst at merrist wood , from Teds reserch with other experts he had be able to prove that vetran oaks are more likely to go on for much longer without the intervention of us tree surgeons
  2. i did ask Alex and to be honest he did not seem that interested in selling me the parts at all , i will give him another shout on monday , here is something to make you laugh , i asked vos about ingector pipes as the no1 injector pipe has been dammaged - vos said to me that they have a second hand one there on the shalf for £35.oo !!! so i give our local diesel fitters a call and they tell me they could make me one that length for about £12 and would do it while i wait
  3. and i thought having to let one of the groundys go after he decided to argue over my decision for him to stay out of the way while trying to get a section of timber down safely and then for him to tell me that even though i was the bos that he was not going to do what i asked because although he has 3 months experience in this industry that he knew best because he used to be a fisherman for 20 years . I think that saying goes- you cant polish a turd !!!! oh and my mog is broken lol
  4. evening guys , its looking like the mog needs a new compressor , i took the main air line off and could stop the air flow with my finger which would say to me that the piston rings have gone , i then took the head off of the compressor and found that oil was being pushed above the piston and had dammaged the gasket . have got a price for a brand new one from vos and they want £600 for the compressor and can have it here for tuesday , i have now got to find something to remove any carbon buildupps from the rest of the air system so that we dont kill the new compressor !! now i see why mog's are expensive to run lol
  5. well done for getting up there and getting the job done mate , but i really do think that not having a line in another tree and felling a section that large when only anchored in that tree was utterly foolish , the experienced guys on site should have carried out a tree hazard assessment prior to you climbing it , to put it plainly , if you had caused the tree to colapse and we seriously injured or even worse then the HSE woud have been informed and the first question asked would be ....... whay was a mewp not used and why was an inexperienced climber sent up there to do the work ??? . having seen first hand the aftermath of something that serious i can ssure you its not plesent . This aint a rant at you but i am very very supprised at the team of guys you work with .
  6. thanks for all of your advice guys , it really appreciated . i hope to have the mog working again by the end of the weekend , not sure if i will yet but as always these things only break down when they are most needed .
  7. You got any pics of this hitch ?
  8. yeah it sure has , i think its called the joys of owning a mog lol , do you get much trouble from your mog huck ??
  9. yeah mike hill sent me a pm saying the same thing , fingers crossed its something simple

  14. you bitch lol . but verry verry true right now
  15. to be honest steve i went home after a frustratind day , looks like the lads have got a day with a 6 inch green mech and ranger tipper tomorrow while i fix the mog (well try to) the belt is seeming tight though as it was my first check , will be in the yard for 7 tomorrow morning and have a look through the hoses , firstly i think i will take the main hose off and see if the compressor is working and work my way to the back of the mog lol , the pto rubbing the pipe does make sense though . failing that i will disconnect the air brakes and replace them with the dick barkes on my mountain bike !!!!
  16. Nice pics Rupe , what a cracking day to be working on a tre like that and in a nice location , we have had the day in a cenetery taking down some really sappy pines lol
  17. Dont panik , i will take pics on my cammera lol , not getting cought out again , but first i have some bits and pieces to do to it first ,

  20. feck the crap wood , lets see some mog pics , i will post some of mine when i get a min lol .
  21. cheers steve your a gent . i have left the mog in the shed for the night and fecked off home ,. i will have a look for the hose first thing in the morning , i was one step away from buying a new compressor , hopefully you will be right mate , when a drained the tanks there was verry little watter in the tanks at all . thinking about it i doubt that it is the compressor as it build air but its being lost too quickly lol
  22. cheers steve , will give you a should mate , it just seems really wierd that it started all of a sudden . i have tried getting as much air in the tanks as possible and listen for air - now previously i could hear air leaking from the top on the gearbox but seeings i now cant get 3 bar in the tanks withot revving the engine up to full working revs for ten mins this morning and now it wond do much at all since i emptied the air tanks lol
  23. nope not even enoght air to turn itself off , feck knows what it is but its sods law it happens when we are in need of the mog to do the job ,
