  1. bri with those pink rims she could never be put in the same category as the 190 , and just think this time next week you will be towing her with your very own leyland !!!
  2. yeah thats what she is going to get huck , the previous person did not do much of a job at weliding them up .
  3. trust me brian we will keep her going , yeah i saw the 190 , makes you think doesnt it , what amazed me is that the finns are casted as part of the fly wheel , makes you wonder what was wrong with the casting of it
  4. NEVER !!!! by the time you turn up on monday you will not know that anything is wrong with it (other than its not orrange) how was your curry ??
  5. on the flip side of that steve i recently looked at a tree that an LA contractor or possibly the LA in house team had done and thought how well they had cleaned up in the midst of tking doen a large lime - in fact i was wrong and infact the tree was being retained - its since been looked at and felled !! i too was guilty of making a decision on what was going on when i did not have the full facts in front of me , fair enogh the tree was in a shocking state but at the end of the day who am i to say what is what . I am glad the tree came down in the end though
  6. Lmao , never good mate, hope you make some progress with it
  7. right , i need to buy another truck - Roughly 2k plus VAT they were ofering me either 2k inc vat or £1400 and the truck , neither offers were going to result in me getting another truck equivelant to what i had , this is taking into acount its age, milage, and the condition of the truck . when buying the truck i had to pay VAT as it is classed as a commercial . now i get a truck and 2k , minus 600-700 = 1300-1400 , i then sell the truck as an accident dammaged truck repaired and cat d registered i will most likely get 1000 for it, that equates to ending up with about 2300-2400 so basically in a round the houses way equates to 2k pluss vat , thus meaning im not out of pocket as i could not claim thevat when i bought the truck.
  8. if your suing a single line sysyem (which i would prefer ) i would be inclined to back the system up with a seprat line and a shunt , to run over the sharp edge at the top of the wall i woust highly reccomend a "Track" these can be bought from Petzel . we used to use a similar set up for I.R.A.T.A . The problem with using pipe or any thing similar is that although it protect from abraision but does not protect from the accute angle that the rope will be in whilst weight loaded . if your unsure of the set up or system go onto the petzel web site and im pretty sure they show you various applications in which their gear can be used . failing that give me a shout .
  9. So really what your saying is that its not right for me to spend 600-700 quid and then sell it to recover my costs to then buy another truck ? and that having a hire truck to carry on working for while the insurance company decides what to do with it ? personally the problem was A -the fool that went into me and B- his insurance company for dragging their heels over it for 5 months if they want to do that its up to them. im still going to be out of pocket as im vat registered which means i will lose 17.5% of what ever they pay me . i agree that its shocking how costly it can be in situations like this but im sure if it was you that had been in an accident in your work truck then you would jump at the oppertunity to have another vehicle for as long as your without yours so that you can still keep working . Further to this i have agreed not to claim for any unasured losses which would have added considerably to the final cost to the insurer .
  10. after having the carbs changed my saws are still 357's are running really well .
  11. i think the worst part of it is that currently there is no way of LA's taking action against poor standard work unless the tree is protected in any way , i had a guy come and work for me that would only climb using spikes - hence he did not climb much at all as the only trees i would let him climb were take downs and he was pretty shocking at them !!
  12. speak to your local highways department ,you will be required to give a minimum of 4 weeks notice , you should have an approved diversion route, a sinage plan for the route . you must have advance closure warning signs up for a minimum of 7 days prior to the road being closed . your highways department can help you with this BUT it will have a ost attached to it , this varties from betwene £150.00-£400 depending on how much of it you can do your self , i tend to do all of it my self and only liase with highways and the cost is kept to a minimum BUT you have to have the cerst to be able to do this . If you need any more info feel free to pm me
  13. Yes there is a good reason why premiums are so high , its down to drink/drug drivers , un insured drivers...... and the list goes on , why should i make a loss because of an accident that was not my fault ?? and do you not think that getting the body work done and selling it so that i can get another replacment vehicle is fair ? or should i sit back and make a loss ?
  14. hiya bob yeah i could do with a spareset of blades mate , how much do you want for them ?
  15. without being funny , i dont think that the ivec is much better , after the exaust problem we had a to have a new gearbox shorly followed by brake issues , if you its only you thats going to drive the truck then why not go for the 5.5 ton iveco ( if your liscence entitles you to drive them ) they are no bigger than the 3.5 ton truck . my only thought would be that if a transit has cost 3.5 k in repars then the iveco will cost 4.5k
  16. At last i have got to the bottom of it , after a long conversation with the guilty parties insurer they have agreed to let me have the truck back and give me 2K , after explaining how much this was costing them in hire and that i was happy for this to go on as long as it takes they decided to see sense . so as soon as the truck is back it will be into the body shop for some dents to be puled out and then put on fleabay . RESULT!!!
  17. we have used all three and to be honest of you allready have a landy i would be more inclined to go for the transit , the reason for having a transit is that you get more ground clearence , we were using a 56 plate iveco and took the exaust off of it from the turbo back and trust me it cost a shed load to put right , also the 130 will have the turning circle of an old london bus !! . i guess tho at the end of the day it depends on what work your doing ,we do alot of council work and work for western power so for us a 4x4 tipper and a mog is just what we need and a transit or equivelant would not really be of any use other than on the traffic management side of things .
  18. looks line a nice job , sadly we dont get much chance down here in cornwall to work on bigger Cedar trees . nice job well done by the looks of it
  19. hmmmm lots must have changed since 2003 , i worked for cannon and had the whole trailer problem and rather than put me through the trailer test they wanted to put me through class 2 which in their words would cancel out the trailer issue . but i now stand corrected lol
  20. we use rock oil and have found it to be really good, i was using stihl oils but to be honest im not paying that much money just because the drum has Stihl plastered all over it , my only word of advice is if your looking to make a saving then buy it by the barrel not by the drum , i got a price and it worked out to be roughly two thirds the cost of buyin 25 litre drums
  21. hia guys , i have recantly bought a 9 inch pto Kwick chip chipper on fleabay , i was just wondering if anyone has used one ?
  22. Rather than taking the test to allow you to tow a trailer behind a transit or similar i would be inclined to go for a class 2 hgv liscence - this will allow you to tow bigger trailers and drive any ridged vehicle !! much better idea in my eyes plus it allowsyou to hire in bigger cehicles for bigger jobs oh and its not to much more trouble to get a class 2 liscence than it is to get a trailer liscence - well so im told !!!
  23. and there was me thinking that things were on the up - T**t
  24. try getting some mountain sud,s from your local outdors center or if you wanna spend some money then buy a Beal rope brush and some rope cleaning fluid . in future if you dont want to get your rope in this state again then either use a rope guide or better still get some other non assuming fool to do the dirty work , only kidding
  25. well i can sell him my daf lorry lol . how did you get on dogging tonight bri ?
