  1. im using a ?Lock Jack and to be honest although i have not tried the Spider Jack but i really get on with the LJ and would not considder changing from it . have you tried climbing on either ??
  2. hmm i will have a look and see if i can get on the course in september , failing that i will be calling Mr Dawson !!!!
  3. i totally see your point and as said before im not particularly bothered by the tpo being placed but it does make you wonder just how polised the country is - gone are the days of being able to do as you wish with land thats righly yours . still i find my self wondering how a tpo can be placed by a tre oficer when there has been a complaint that these trees may be taken down , it has simply been decided by one person to protect trees that are comming to the end of their life and the land owner does not wish to maintain a liability . i personally believe tha the system needs to be looked into and where needed it needed changes should be made . Im still seeing developers taking down healthy trees so that they can squeze one more plot in and verry little if anything is done by the LA but roumors that several trees that are comming to the end of their life gets them hopping to protect them , thus resulting in the land owner having to maintain these trees resulting in a costly expense each year , should one of the trees shed a limb then its his pocket that will bear the brunt . Sorry rant over
  4. to be honnest Hamma im really hoping there will be a course starting in september but we will see
  5. interesting, if im honst i thought that there was set criteria for placing emergency tpo's, yeah fair enough there is verry little if anything wrong with the trees but the client wanted them down .
  6. hiya guys im looking to do my Tec Cert on line and looking for some advice on colleges/training centers that are doing this and also when it next course is starting. any help would be greatly appreciated . cheers guys
  7. Sorry to derail the thread a little but i was wondering if anyone could enlighten me - A company wishes to fell several trees on their land , the trees are not protected at this time but during the quoting process the locall tree officer decides hes not having that and places an emergency TPO. surlely there needs to be more criteria to protecting a tree or several trees other than the tree officers say so ? . im not to worried about the job my self as it was nearly 150 miles away from me but it did leave me rather intrigued
  8. bargain , just sent my cheque off with my written offer !!! NOT . It does amaze me what you can but on Ebay !!
  9. i was just looking at my new NPTC UA card and quite clearly it states that my certs are only valid for three years !!! so in 3 years time i assume i will be spending another £1500 on training that i have already done .
  10. i will second that but also maybe see if you can get a new pair of gaffs/ spikes to go on your set , normally you can un-bolt them and put a new pair on , as for the spiking - if at first you dont succed the try try again.
  11. within reason , you do get what you pay for but i do feel that the price of second hand kit can be a little on the silly side at times , lets face it the chipper is second hand and done 1600 hours and been well serviced but never the less the best of its days are behind it .
  12. i would be looking to pay no more than 5 an a half - 6k at the verry most but it would have to be imaculate for that kind of money. imo a paint job counts for verry little , i would much rather that the machine has had a blooby good service . what are you going to be putting it behind ??
  13. lol your strait to the point steve lol , i was wondering if it was origionally an AG spec mog but never the less it looks great
  14. verry nice mog you have , im hoping mine should be looking as good after it gets a coat of paint !!!
  15. nope never got it sorted , the winch is still in the box ha ha
  16. no worries , i only found out by asking the tec department at stihl because i was just as fed up with the chain breaks as you , do you clip your saw strop to the chain break when your not using the saw or to carry it ?? the tec's also told me that this was one of the fastest ways to weeken the chain break handle
  17. the 020t will fit strait onto the ms200 , most of the reason that the chain break handle is different on the ms200t is due to the complaints that on the old 020t the side casing buckled . so the side casing was re developed along with the chainbreak handle - as always they took the good bits off and replaced them with what can only be classed as crap !!! as for your other question regarding weather or not your chain break handle in its current condition its sadly not . this is because the handle is designed and intended to be secured at both ends and this is how when put through the euro testing it passed its liscencing for it to go on sale . its a bit like having a chain catcher thats bent or already been dammaged by a chain comming off it must be repalced before further use .
  18. if i was a bit nearer i would offer mate .
  19. the problem is that son you will snap the chain break band because the chain break is not supported on both sides thus meaning the chain break handle twists and therefor twists the mechinism . well thats what happened to me
  20. to be honest i quite enjoy quoting against the guys that wanna quote really cheply or buy work , the way i see it is if they know that someone elts is quoting against them it will keep them quoting at their ultra low prices , im not having to work that cheply im mearly keeping the others working for next to nothing/free -so who is the fool ? they could quote sensibly and win a proportion of the work .
  21. I have been quoting on some work recently and found i was not winning much of the work so i thought i would see just how cheply my compettitors were working - i was amazed at just how cheply some will work or im some cases will buy work , but hey good luck to them i would much rather not have a name for being "cheap" lmao
  22. interesting that you say that about the importers ! i had spoken to them about a week ago and they told me that in the last year they have had less than twenty pairs of boots returned !!! i will see what response i get from them but i dont hold much hope . the next pair of boots will certainly be the stretch air boots for sure
  23. this may sound daft but recently we took down a large ash in which we had a small drop zone , as we were using a 28 meter lift platform from the neighbouring car park we set down a load of tyres and dropped some quite large lumps down onto them causing no dammage to the tarmac at all , you can also use tyres against walls to ensure that no dammage is caused by accident .
  24. hello Justin , have you any news on the new skylotec yet ??

  25. i totally agree but the soles should not be comming appart from the upper section of the boot , this is not only happening in one area of the sole but comming appart from both sides , the front and back of the boot .
