  1. is the tipping body factory fitted of is it an aftermarket tipper ? , i know one guy with an isuzu who had a factory fitted tipper and it does no tip high enough but thats because its a scissor tipping system . can you post some pics of the rams and tipper when fully tipped ?
  2. i have been running brg mt for 3 years on our truck's i have found them to wear very very well , i have changed the tryres once in this time , when replaced i kept with bfg but had the mk2's . im really pleased with the mk 2 and find them far better than the mk 1 off road however i have foun that they are not so good on the road . if your looking for a hard wearing tyre that is great off road i would go for the bfg But i would fit them all round and not just on the back.
  3. best you get that tipper working again then brian:thumbup:
  4. feck it bri , lets get a diger in and see what we can do , 14 days - pal to play 351 days invitation only lol
  5. yeah sold a couple loads this year , dont pannic bri im sure the 60 tons you bought will sell , fancy a smoothie tomorrow ?? lmao
  6. When i was at Merrist Wood one of the tutors was telling us how you can eat Beaf stake fungi !! so he devoured this lump of fungi and proceded to vimmit violently and was not seen for the rest of the week !!! come to find it was not beaf steak at all !!!!!! lmfao
  7. i think i will get a horn a bit like Fred Dibnah used to blow when felling those chimneys , ha ha i bet it will pee all the folk on the council estates right off when every ten mins they hear a paaarrrrp paaarrrp as i fell another leylandi ha ha ha great stuff i think i will actually get one !! the more i think of doing that at 8 in the morning the more i wanna find one to buy BUT it must be the same as Freds
  8. my gob cuts tend to vary depending on the species and condition of what im felling . we recently took down a large Lawsonia which had a large cavity at the base , Chris that works for me felled it by taking out a large gob(just over halfway through ) so that he could use the buttres roots for the hinge , it came down exactly whee we wanted it too come down . It was something i had not thought about doing in that circumstance but was well impressed with the results!!
  9. without sounding harsh but in order to determine what you honestly warent being payed for a days work you need to be seen climbing , i once made the mistake of taking a guy on that was "compitent climber" and had agreed a price. but in reality when he got climbing he was not at all good and he had to be asked to come down . you could well be a good climber but you need to work for what you feel you are worth , as for using your own kit and insurance you will need both of these to be officially self employed , there is no was i would bring in a climber and expect to lend him any gear .
  10. it did seem a bit wierd being sideways on a slope and still to be facing down hill , i think i will have to trawl the net and see just how far you can push them , oh and then back it off a bit to take into consideration the chip box lol
  11. nope , we were working diagonally on a slope that sloped in two directions if you know what i mean mike , if im honest i think its down to nt really knowing just how far i can push the mog yet .
  12. looks like you are gonna have to get the Tirfor winch out and creat some callouts for your self mate
  13. ha ha i was cross ways on a steep slope in the mog this week and my arse was starting to twitch lol ,
  14. go for a pair of stretch air trousers but make sure you get a pair of braces to go with them
  15. yes you can as far as i know . you can also use the bashlin velcro pads
  16. call it sad if you like but i pray for storms all winter long lol really enjoy working all hours of the day and really enjoy the excitment of not knowing what your going to turn up and have to deal with
  17. to be honest i would go sef employed , it gives you more scope to work in a wider area for several companies , there are also the tax benifits and your the boss , as for how much to charge it really depends on how good you are at your job and how much kit your willing to bring , i used to supply all of my own saws so if i needed a saw with a 30 inch bar sending up to me then it would be my saw that was sent up , if i had to take a rigging kit with me then they would be paying extra .
  18. good man , anything like that puts a smile on my face
  19. At the end of a hard day !
  20. Just chilling out !! !!
  21. A perfect picture of two silly pooches that are far from it!
  22. so true , i most enjoy working for good old bottom of the rung working class people , you turn up to do a fair job for a fair price, you get a couple cups of tea (with the odd biscuit) they are reasonable and understand that the job you are doing for them is less than simple . oh and in most cases they pay at the end of the job .
  23. i have read through this thread from start to finnish and if im totally honest i thing you need to STOP and get some propper training ASAP , i know its hard because you wanna get climbing and felling but there is much much more to tree surgery than you think . The best thing you can do is Stop trying to muddle through climbing and felling . Save up and get your self on your basic chainsaw , cross cutting and felling - then try and work for a firm as a GROUNDSMAN for a while , you will get to learn how to work on the ground propperly and how to understand the requirments of the climber and what he is doing . THEN an ONLY THEN you could thing about training for your climbing and areial rescue . It sounds harsh but there are any ammount of gunhoe fools that think they can do the job and often it leads to serious injury or death . any way good luck and hope all goes well , if you take in what the guys on here are telling you then you will do well . many of the guys on here have been doing the job for many years and know what they are talking about . any way good luck and i wish you well
  24. when employed by a company in devon i was envolved in a couple of jobs for Noel Edmunds and Jethro , neither jobs were at all enjoyable . kind of proved to me that money does not make happines at all !!
  25. save time and take the Merc shoppin steve, it will solve all of your problems - they cant open their door on to your body work , if there are not enought spaces you can deploy the Hiab and make a little extra room oh and if nothing elts im sure Mrs Steve would love the extra room for shopping in the back:thumbup:
