  1. yeah its emaculate other than the scuff on the bumper the missus gave it . i was looking through the service log book and it says in there that the waranty is 3 years of 60k so im kind of hoping that even tho its done 61k they will do something about it , i did hear that if not it will cost me roughly 5-6 grand and lets be honest its probably only worth 7k plus vat , maybe my insurance would wright it off !!! wishfull thinking lol
  2. hmmm only another ten years for me ha ha ha . i feel the biggest must when going self emplyed is a good bank of decent firms to work for that pay on time and pay sensible money , my advice would be that its not worth working for jokers .
  3. sadly i bought it seccond hand , it was under warranty untill the begining of last month when it turned 60k miles !! its been serviced on the buton when due, the service record is spot on . as for the knocking it started off as a tapping and as the tapping got louder so did the knocking if you know what i mean .
  4. the worst bit is that i bought it for the missus and i was only borrowing it on monday because the ranger is in bits lol . i must learn to be a little more gentle
  5. hiya guys , as it says above !! i was driving the navara when the bottom end decided it wanted to part company , thnkfully there is no con for poking out the side of the block , im really hoping that the engine may be repairable and that someone on here may have some info . thanks in advance guys - next time its a landy or hilux or even another ranger
  6. does anyone know if you can get spring asisters for vehiles with leaf springs? my ranger tipper could do with some when fully loades and towing the chipper

  9. to be honest if you can use a distel just like a prussik , i tend to use a distel on my small rope with no pully , as for it locking up it depends on how you tie it and how many wraps you use . Each person uses different lengths of cord dependent on length of arm and how you climb . personally i would buy 5 meters of cord and try out a couple . the other tip is to untie a prussik and see how long it is - you will want to add about another 12 inches to allow for the fishermans at each end . hope this is of use to you
  10. i would use standard tree cutting signs while taking the trees down and then for spreying i would use a couple weed sprsating in progress signs while spraying and then once finnished i would place caution notices either at every stump if they are spead out or place them on stakes allong the boundary . also i would chech the data sheet on the glypho to see what time scales ect are reccomended
  11. i would have thought that the ICF was moe aimed at consultants etc . as a tree surgery company i think i would be looking at either AA or ISA , as i feel they are better aimed at tree surgeons . what is your background ?
  12. thats an interesting mod to your harnes , i usually tend to clip my working strop into the attachment points for the bridge (sliding d) on my skylotec , i find its a far more comfortable way to work on a pole as opposed to using the side D's , however if im sectioning down a pole then i usually tend to run my rope off of the attachment points for the bridge and hive my wire core flip line working of the side D's .

  14. sorry to derail the thread but has anyone changed the cv boots on their ranger ? im in the middle of changing mine but for what ever reason the cv joint will not come of from the drive shaft . any advice will b greatfully recieved

  17. hi Lorry , i used to were Stihl hi-flex and got sick and fed up of them falling to bits too . since then i have been using Stretch Air and have found them to be amazing , im currently using a pair of type A glads (is not winter down in cornwall yet) and have found them to be a great pair of trousers all round , i do believe you can get the glad's in either type A or C . I alos have a pair of standard type C stretch airs (for when winter finally gets here) and last winter i could not fault them at all but this winter i think i will buy a pair of type c glads as they are even harder wearing and more watter repelant . My only advice is if you get a pair of stretch airs get a pair of stretch air braces NOT stihl or husky etc - they are not elasticated enough as you nedd to wear the trousers with the waist band on you waist (not like you have got snoop doggs bis ass baggy pants on that sit just below your arse cheeks) any way hope this is of usefull info to you mate
  18. i currently run a mazda b2500 non turbo and a ranger tipper , both of these vehicles are great work horses , i have had the mazda nearly 5 years and in that time it has been abused every day its been out on site , in 5 years i have had alomst no trouble with it at all other than glow plugs etc , i have now had the ranger tipper a year and im really pleased with it , fair enough the fool i bought it off had not been totally honest but after sorting out the crap he had bodged its a great truck . the way i se it is if Western Power are prepared to use them for off road work then its man ebough for what i want to do .

  22. so whats the tree motion like for the bigger tree surgeons ? im currently using a skylotec but its due for replacment i was holding out for the new version of the skylotec but it seems to be taking for ever to be launched so i may well try the tree motion
  23. i totally agree with all that you said however i would not advise anyone to try changing the bearings on a 190 unless they have a good understanding of "backlash" as this pays a major role in the fitting of the bearings - timberwolf explained it to me and also explained how the check the bearings by temprature ! this made sure that i got the local dealer to do the work as it would be under warany and the fact that i was selling the machine and wanted it to be spot on for who ever buys it .
  24. its not so much beefing up the bearing its a case of being able to grease the bearings to start off with , the machines are constructed well and when you considder that a 190 is not chippng much more than a 150 i would be inclined to say its well built
  25. i was looking at that trailer , looks like a nice bit of kit , would be even better with a hiab fitted
