  1. taking into account the timber your cutting and what your doing then i would go and get me a saw that can handle the bar and chain - i was taught that its far better to have a smaller bar on a bigger unit , but the other way round and you stree the unit and stress your self when the job takes longer then thought .
  2. i tend to sell by load , if someone wants to know how big the load is then i will give them the dimentions but i certainly will not go into cubic capacity im not selling loads of sand or similar so im not interested in cubic capatity , if they wanna summise that its x cubic meters then thats up to them .
  3. personally i would not considder it , if your felling or using the saw in a tree you want that saw to be able to cut as quickly as possible - you cut to slowly when felling you rask a barber chair and if your cutting in the tree the same can happen , also there is a fatigue element to using an underpowered saw . if you need a 36" bar then you need a saw that will handle the demands - i would considder a 660 or husky 390xp .
  4. how do you feel that an ally body with hickory or cherry inserts would react ? keep us posted on how your getting on . Great stuff buddy
  5. thats part of the reason that you should alway back up and descender that can allow free running if not controled by the person descending even though you are using a second safety line
  6. BUT a portawrap does not have conformity for rope access . Also if you were to use either a porta or tuba you would still have to back it up with a shunt or similar as bot main line and safety lines must be capable of locking of and holding a climber in place . however i would not reccomend using a shunt on a safety line as the can twist to distruction when stress loaded in the event of a fall or mainline failure , personally i would use a Miller Stick-run fall arrester . or a Troll rocker rope lock
  7. basicly a petzle Tuba guys , have a look - actually looks like it would also be great for lightweight lowering maybe
  8. an inovative bit of kit - is this something that someone such as Stein would be interested in developing ?? in metal maybe ? lets be honest ART have managed to combine metal and wood withing climbing gear . great to see and a verly elagent climber verry well done !
  9. have you tried either the petzle Rig or Tuba or id ? i know the tuba will require a shunt or similar but from what i know of it , it gives the greatest area to discipate heat and you can insert a cool bag inside it , not sure how well it would stand up on a 500m descent tho
  10. Do you mean Ugg bootd Dean ? my mum brought me and my brother up pretty much the same way your mum did , sadly it brought my mum to her knees and stopped her working for several years due to her condition , sadly my brother was at uni and i was un able to earn enough as an aprentice tree surgeon to help much , even working nights in a kitchen it was still not enough - Does this mean my mum still did not deserv some help from the state ? several years later my mum was back working as much as she could , had met a great bloke and re-married , sadly it only lasted 5 years and my step dad died suddenly whilst playing football with my step brother - sadly the way that things worked out my mum was once again left with nothing other than trying to work full time in a supermarket on low wages - does this mean she still does not deserv any help or "tax credits" ?? Well guess what ?? she has been left high and dry to sort everything out her self and take on sewing work to try and make ends meat . Personally i think she deservs some help from the "state" . the sooner some people get the idea that rewarding the people working sadly for a low wage and for long hours with tax credits is far better than people not working the better . i dont mind if i have offended any pompas tossers whilst taking the time to wright this.Im sure you have all done a job for someone on tax credits that may have used some of the money to pay you for what you have done , does that mean your a sub sponger in your eyes ? na didnt think so im pretty sure your rose tainted specs will allow you to see strait past that one .
  11. Maybe this is the problem , maybe you have only now worked out how much you have missed out on bitternes is a terrible thing you know. Now i know how you feel maybe we should all maake sure we "Ponce" all that we can to make sure that we all get your share better still could you put in a bit of overtime as i have a liking for a new projector to replace the current plasma screen telly i have got , oh and fancy a couple kids !!! maybe if we all adopt this theory we can make sure you work past 70, well not that it matters as you dont need or want to claim your pension BUT pretty please could i claim the pension that you dont want ???? you know i thought i never had any good luck but you have just proven me wrong ! thanks to you not "Poncing a penny i an actually retire 20 years early , god bless you scrooge
  12. well Mick i am impressed , i have always wondered how an oap would survive without a pension , i guess i will have to wait and ask you!! lmao
  13. Sorry - YOU:001_rolleyes:
  14. i trust you have not and do not claim any benefits and assume that none of your family claim any sort of benefits of any sort ?.
  15. each to their own , i personally would not want to claim tax credits , but some people feel that they are entitled to it so tey claim it , lets be honest if the goverment want to give money away then there is always going to be a flock of people sat waiting to have some of it .
  16. personally i would look at a 10% reduction and remove parking spaces , even though the car's have been parking on the tree roots for many years i still reccomend removing the parking spaces and the tarmac , in my oppinion its never to late for a tree to start suffering due to soil compaction and further root dammage
  17. i do hope so Lorry , the sad thing is that like many of you i see so many private customers, commercial customers and LA's trying to cut costs which eventually ends up costing them more , i recently quotd a job to take down a rather large and awkward tree which was by no means going to be strait forward , when the client recieved the quotation he was shocked and actually thought that we would do the job for a bit of cash and the timber , i looked at a job for another tree firm yesterday that consited of a mojor ammount of TM on a busy main road , and again when i gave them my quote for carrying out the TM and taking the tree down i was told that it could not possibly cost that much as he had already given the customer a quote which did not come close to the quote - " why cant you use stop and go or traffic lights on a three lane road ??" .
  18. Sorry , i may well have sounded like i was looking down at one man bands - this realy is not the case , im a one man band with two staff , maybe i should not have generalised in the way that i have but its also just as difficult to specify if you know what i mean .
  19. This is true , the statment of "one man bands driving down prices " is mearly something that i have noticed down here in cornwall , but i totally agree with your point , im not sure whether to say sadly or thankfully we dont really have and big nationals down here .
  20. thank fook you noticed mate !!!! see thats what can hapen when you work too long only to come home to a list of jobs to do ha ha ha ha
  21. hiya guys and girls , I have recently found my self wondering where our industry is heading , i hear more and more of local goverment cut backs , small firms folding , lack of work , lack of contracts (and so the list goes on) so what are your thoughts and experiences ? It would be great to hear points of view from everyone and anyyone within the industry. Also do you feel that there is an influx of one man bands that are driving down the value of a skilled trade such as ours ? Many thanks guys and i look forward to reading your thoughts and points of view
  22. the missus is constantly ringing asking when you will be home as she has loads of jobs for you to do !
  23. i would go for the tw , having used bot machines i would certainll go for the TW . in fact im currently looking to buy one to go behing the ranger tipper .
  24. Looks like they have put a massive amount of effort to improve the current rope guide .
  25. looks like a nice tool , did i read that it has a SWL of 4 ton ?
