  1. each to their own , i personally would not want to claim tax credits , but some people feel that they are entitled to it so tey claim it , lets be honest if the goverment want to give money away then there is always going to be a flock of people sat waiting to have some of it .
  2. personally i would look at a 10% reduction and remove parking spaces , even though the car's have been parking on the tree roots for many years i still reccomend removing the parking spaces and the tarmac , in my oppinion its never to late for a tree to start suffering due to soil compaction and further root dammage
  3. i do hope so Lorry , the sad thing is that like many of you i see so many private customers, commercial customers and LA's trying to cut costs which eventually ends up costing them more , i recently quotd a job to take down a rather large and awkward tree which was by no means going to be strait forward , when the client recieved the quotation he was shocked and actually thought that we would do the job for a bit of cash and the timber , i looked at a job for another tree firm yesterday that consited of a mojor ammount of TM on a busy main road , and again when i gave them my quote for carrying out the TM and taking the tree down i was told that it could not possibly cost that much as he had already given the customer a quote which did not come close to the quote - " why cant you use stop and go or traffic lights on a three lane road ??" .
  4. Sorry , i may well have sounded like i was looking down at one man bands - this realy is not the case , im a one man band with two staff , maybe i should not have generalised in the way that i have but its also just as difficult to specify if you know what i mean .
  5. This is true , the statment of "one man bands driving down prices " is mearly something that i have noticed down here in cornwall , but i totally agree with your point , im not sure whether to say sadly or thankfully we dont really have and big nationals down here .
  6. thank fook you noticed mate !!!! see thats what can hapen when you work too long only to come home to a list of jobs to do ha ha ha ha
  7. hiya guys and girls , I have recently found my self wondering where our industry is heading , i hear more and more of local goverment cut backs , small firms folding , lack of work , lack of contracts (and so the list goes on) so what are your thoughts and experiences ? It would be great to hear points of view from everyone and anyyone within the industry. Also do you feel that there is an influx of one man bands that are driving down the value of a skilled trade such as ours ? Many thanks guys and i look forward to reading your thoughts and points of view
  8. the missus is constantly ringing asking when you will be home as she has loads of jobs for you to do !
  9. i would go for the tw , having used bot machines i would certainll go for the TW . in fact im currently looking to buy one to go behing the ranger tipper .
  10. Looks like they have put a massive amount of effort to improve the current rope guide .
  11. looks like a nice tool , did i read that it has a SWL of 4 ton ?
  12. thats not bad for a mk1 at all , i must admit if i could get into rallying i would , i had a few weekends up at Rally school and was doing really well but to get into it at an ameture stage still costs a bloody fortune
  13. Thanks Yeti, it realy appreciate your advice and will keep you posted on how i get on , asd for enching at ver six foot i totally agree it is a bit awkward , i think using a wide arm stance is part of the problem but several guys that also train seem to think its the best way to get stacked pecs
  14. 660 bhp in a Fiesta !!!!! the guy is a legend , i wonder if he fancies lending me his scooby lol
  15. im pretty sure if you give the hi lux an extra 500 bhp then he would gladly do it lol. as for his rallying im not to impressed by his times but with a bit of luck i will get to see this first hand in wales this year for the gb stages of the wrc
  16. ok ok , lets post a different one Ady , but lets be honest he is still an awsome driver .[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2nAmWN4DdA]YouTube - DC - Ken Block Subaru Team ,Travis Pastrana,BEST VIDEO![/ame]
  17. wicked thanks for the advice , a little more background , im 6"2 tall , 203kg, and built like the average prop forward . in all fairnes i have only been training for about 7 months but still feel i could do much muh better , also i do find that eating well is not to easy in this line of work , i really do need to sort out a better diet/ food planner
  18. yeah , i bet he needed a new pair of corderoy trousers lmao
  19. have many of you seen this guy in action ? if i could do with my scooby what he can in his i really think i would have to give up tree work lol [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtB1fRT5nYg&feature=fvst]YouTube - Ken Block's Subaru Impreza WRX STI Gymkhana Two Video by Inside Line[/ame]
  20. cool , will do Dave , he was talking about a ducker when i spoke to him last week , i will have to give him another call .
  21. hiya , i have been training a split 3 day programe - chest and back , arms and shoulders , lages , abs are trailned every session along with 35-40 mins of interval training after each sesion . not the problem im finding is that my progres is slow to none when it comes to benching , i just can not get past 125-130 kg , but my other compound lifts (squatt and dead lift) are still progressing , tonght i was happily squatting 175 kg for 5x5 . the idea behind this programe is to still build muscle and gain strength whilst shredding boddy fat .
  22. that depends on how hung over you are or if you have a stttttamer:sneaky2:
  23. i once worked at a company in devon where climbers were paid a climbers wage (£70 on the books) and groundies were on a groundies wage (£55 on the books) . One of the groundies felt that because he could Fell well , maintain saws well (he could sharpen like a mofo), could drive the fast track and timber trailer oh and could use the M.E.W.P for simple jobs he felt that he shold be paid as much as a climber . But all the climbers could cover all of those jobs so why should the groundy get any extra pay ?
  24. i personally think that it is not possible to equate wages to a role , its more important to set a wage to a man's skill , the guys that work for me are top chaps that do not feel they have a set role, our outlook is that if you can see a job that needs doing then get on with it there is certainly no them and us betwne climbers and groundies .
