I guess it ust goes to show the you dont know whats round the corner .

  3. sorry tomer but my oppinion of you has just hit an all time low , how can you admit to speaking to them let alone letting them soil your yard with their arrisings
  4. i guess it depends on who in the banking sector you are reffering to really tom
  5. what was the species that had been chipped and were the chipper blades sharp ?
  6. to be honest i would considder going on refresher courses if they were aimed at guys that have been in the game for a few years and if they were reasonably priced . Recently i went away and finally did my assessment for UA2.1,2.2,2.3 when i recieved my all new flimsy ticket i noticed that the certification only lasts for 3 years now i dont know about you guys but for the kind of money we are paying to get trained and certificated by NPTC (who have the market pretty well sewn up and can make the rules up to suit) i dont expect to be told that the cert is no use after 2013 .
  7. i would go for a timberwolf , i have spent the last week using a green mech and personally i find them to be shocking . the chip it produces is pretty poor and i have found it to be a really messy chipper . as for a timberwolf i have found the manufacturer to be really helpfull when you call them for advice , parts are readily available , the chip is decent enough to sell , and its not at all as messy as the green mech .
  8. Matt why not have people in for a weeks trial with a review and agreed wage for the right candidate at the end of the week ?? i dont think its easy to fix a wage for a job position however its more than reasonable to arrang a wage for a guy depending on how a weeks trial turns out , when it comes to groundies i feel some people have what it takes and some dont .
  9. wow looks like a great job , somerealy nice kit on site too , well done mate
  10. im normally in the yard for 8 then strait out to site - half hour for lunch , couple ten min breaks and home for about 5-6 , then its on with anything that needs to be done in the yard or office - failing that its off to the gym . then weekends are fair game if i can work i will and enjoy it .
  11. how many amps are you using ? . i tried to use an inverter arc welder to weld some 1.5mm steel and still found that either the set was turned down to low or was burning holes lol. if i was to go for a mig welder for doing any work to bodu work on vehicles and yet still be powerfull to weld upto 2mm steel i would look for something like a Cebora 190 autostar - very very good welders
  12. if you are looking to carry out work to panels on the tranny i would not be too keen on using an arc welder as its harder to weld very thin metal and especialy if there is and rot in the area your welding . personally i would look to get a mig welder , if you get a mig welder arround the 190 amp area then im pretty sure you will be able to weld pretty much anything you will ever need to weld , migis certainly much easyer and much more forgiving im my oppinion
  13. i would keep the 60 and get a 20 meter rope for the smaller work , also i would considder keeping them in a rope bag.
  14. im not sure if does AC Price does spares for MB Track ???
  15. maybe have a look at having the tipper ram re-situated slightly further back , im sure any metall fabrications shops would be able to get it sorted for you
  16. here is some interesting reading on the subject and more Naturenet: Tree Consultants and Contractors Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah!!!!!!! LMAO
  17. never the less itstill sucks when your used to using certain bits of kit , or certain climbing gear, and to top it all off with a couple weeks of eppy bashing is really not good at all !! that really makes it personall
  18. i know exactly what you mean - if your car is in for a service when you come to pick it up you are expected to pay for it before driving off (unless you have an account with them) so why do people expect you to carry out work for them and to get 30 days to pay ?? i totally agree its different working for the LA's or large organisations/ companies but i really do not see how you can go and work in someones back garden on domestic rates and they seem to think that you dont want paying at the end of the job
  19. im gutted for you mate , its something when a mans tools are not safe anymore , are you managing to work still ?
  20. i see what you mean and i may not have explained what i was getting at that well, basicly it was explained to me by our accountant that if you send a company an invoice and on that invoice it clearly states 15,20 or 30 day terms and they process the invoice and putt it on the system then they in turn have accepted your payment terms - should they not wish to accept your terms then they should refuse to accept the invoice. i have a company down here who tried to tell me that they were paying 60 days from the end of each month and all invoices must be recieved by the 12 of each month otherwise payment will be delayed by another month - this was in a perchase order given to us on completion of the work , i invoiced with my terms being 20 day from the date of invoice and they payed
  21. the goverment did pass a ruling that all LA's were to pay their smaller contractors within 15 days , also many of the companies that i have done work for a doing the same , i have made my terms 15 days for all customers - if your invoice clearly states 15 days and the company you invoice proceses the invoice they are basicly accepting your terms . hope that this may of be some use
  22. most green waste companies will take this for recycling , give your local countil a calland they will point you to who ever is doing this in your area - the nails do not pose a problem as the hammer mill will not be dammaged by them and when the chip is screened the nails will be picked out by a magnet any way
  23. personally i feel that planning needs to be changed to allow applications from recognised tree surgery companies to be pushed through sooner , clearly this would not be possible on every application . many of my applications are for routine works that really should be signed off by wither the TO or head of planning in that area . I feel that if the LA were to go down this route it would save an awfull lot of time being wasted and or course would allow us to get on with work within a month as opposed to three months .
  24. personally if you need to use spikes to prune a tree then my advice would be to go back to being a groundy , there are many ways of finnishing a pollard or accessing a leggy sycamore before you have to resort to spikes , has anyone tried using webbing slings chokered off round a stem to stand in ? you can do the same with a prussic loop as well . i carry various webbing slings for many purposes and this is one of them .
