  1. without being funny , i dont think that the ivec is much better , after the exaust problem we had a to have a new gearbox shorly followed by brake issues , if you its only you thats going to drive the truck then why not go for the 5.5 ton iveco ( if your liscence entitles you to drive them ) they are no bigger than the 3.5 ton truck . my only thought would be that if a transit has cost 3.5 k in repars then the iveco will cost 4.5k
  2. At last i have got to the bottom of it , after a long conversation with the guilty parties insurer they have agreed to let me have the truck back and give me 2K , after explaining how much this was costing them in hire and that i was happy for this to go on as long as it takes they decided to see sense . so as soon as the truck is back it will be into the body shop for some dents to be puled out and then put on fleabay . RESULT!!!
  3. we have used all three and to be honest of you allready have a landy i would be more inclined to go for the transit , the reason for having a transit is that you get more ground clearence , we were using a 56 plate iveco and took the exaust off of it from the turbo back and trust me it cost a shed load to put right , also the 130 will have the turning circle of an old london bus !! . i guess tho at the end of the day it depends on what work your doing ,we do alot of council work and work for western power so for us a 4x4 tipper and a mog is just what we need and a transit or equivelant would not really be of any use other than on the traffic management side of things .
  4. looks line a nice job , sadly we dont get much chance down here in cornwall to work on bigger Cedar trees . nice job well done by the looks of it
  5. hmmmm lots must have changed since 2003 , i worked for cannon and had the whole trailer problem and rather than put me through the trailer test they wanted to put me through class 2 which in their words would cancel out the trailer issue . but i now stand corrected lol
  6. we use rock oil and have found it to be really good, i was using stihl oils but to be honest im not paying that much money just because the drum has Stihl plastered all over it , my only word of advice is if your looking to make a saving then buy it by the barrel not by the drum , i got a price and it worked out to be roughly two thirds the cost of buyin 25 litre drums
  7. hia guys , i have recantly bought a 9 inch pto Kwick chip chipper on fleabay , i was just wondering if anyone has used one ?
  8. Rather than taking the test to allow you to tow a trailer behind a transit or similar i would be inclined to go for a class 2 hgv liscence - this will allow you to tow bigger trailers and drive any ridged vehicle !! much better idea in my eyes plus it allowsyou to hire in bigger cehicles for bigger jobs oh and its not to much more trouble to get a class 2 liscence than it is to get a trailer liscence - well so im told !!!
  9. and there was me thinking that things were on the up - T**t
  10. try getting some mountain sud,s from your local outdors center or if you wanna spend some money then buy a Beal rope brush and some rope cleaning fluid . in future if you dont want to get your rope in this state again then either use a rope guide or better still get some other non assuming fool to do the dirty work , only kidding
  11. well i can sell him my daf lorry lol . how did you get on dogging tonight bri ?
  12. nope no other cars down the road , i hope that they were looking to clock someone speeding and the boot it after them , well thats what i would be doing in an mtech X5 bmw
  13. 40k !!!! feck that , i would be more inclined to buy a jensen in that case !!!!
  14. the worst of it is that once the insurane company finally sort them selves out they could have bought me the 58 plate warrior and had done with it , hire charges of nearly 9k !!!!!!
  15. i have a pair on alloy bashlins with velcro pads i have had them for about 8 years and appart from changing the pads i have not got a bad word to say about them , well worth having a look at if im honest
  16. lol i will remember that . if they did catch me it will be 9 points since the arb show lol
  17. if i was to go for a good alround tracked whipper i think i would go for a schliesing but it all comes down to what you are going to use to get it to site etc i tried the 10 inch greenmech but to be honest was not to impressed with it .
  18. cheers bud , to be honest i have used Accident Exchange once before when some fool went into the back of my scoby , to be honest they have been great as they supplied me with a l200 warrior to use as my work truck whilst this is all being sorted . have you had experience with them before ? i found them to be one of the only ways to get a vehicle to cover while they sort out my truck .
  19. i went past a traffic car on the side of the road with a copper leaning over the bonnet with a speed gun , my question is - if your speeding do they have to pull you or are they now able to send a ticket ?? i know that the cammera vans send a ticket but not sure about the trafffis car on the side of the road . anyone got experience ??
  20. i recently had a problem with another tre company that were taking the pe and not paying etc etc , i was amazed at the response i got when i phoned head office and the parent company to explain that i had one of their chipers on the back of my truck chained up . to my amazment i was told that the funds would be in my account the next day . it really does go to show the a little persuaision can go a long long way
  21. its basicly a schliesing , i have never used one my self but anyone i speak to that has used one has nothing but good to say about them , mind you i did use a jensen 6 inch contractor the other day that was trsailed but feck i was impressed that a 6 inch chipper as capable of whipping volumes of brash like it did
  22. hiya Ady , im sorry to hear that the spineles fool did not stop to exchange details , the problem i have is that i have a commercial policy as the truck is used purely for busines and its going to cost me my time to source a vehicle etc etc and as far as i see i should not be out of pocket for an acident that was not my fault . any way it was my firs truck that i had bought when i went off on my own lol
  23. have you thought about a premier tracked chipper ?
  24. cheers for all the info guys , 2K is a reasonable offer however it will cost me more than that to replace it in cornwall and the costs of going out of cornwall make buying one up country pointles too . my issue is that even though the truck is old and has seen the best of its life i can not get anything similar down here for the money and certanly not seeing that its a commercial and i will have vat to pay . like i said to the insurer , this all happened because some fool was not paying attantion and went into me and because of this i now am faced with replacig a truck that i otherwise would not have had to replace !! but i do appreciate all you imput guys . will keep you posted on how i get on trying to beat the insurer failing that i will have to claim for some hefty unasured losses !!!!
  25. Tommer give me a call and i can put you in touch with a company that i use for ua training , the biggest problem with having the UA tickets is that unless you do Western Power's training then you will not be autherised to work within proximity to powerlines . it is a pain in the arse to get into and costly but well worth it ,
