  1. im not sure of who is looking for staff at the moment , there is always Devon ?Tree services , Knpwe; tree care, max bayles - they are the people i would call first oh and Teign trees , but you could always give murray angel a ring , not sure if he is doing much these days but he could be usefull , i should be up next weekend with a truck load of kit so if you wanna try out a 357 let me know mate
  2. so who you working for in torquay ? i used to live just down the road in teignmouth
  3. i also have a b2500 i have had it 5 years and its had a tough time lol but it does go where ever i like , part of the reason for diff locks is purely to assist when we are towing our chipper (tw190) off road and other trucks but it is only an idea
  4. to be honest the reason i want to fit the winch i have to the ranger and looking into diff locks is because we do alot of utility work but also have to travel a fair distence lets be honest its comfortable to drive , it WILL go anywhere a landrover does and i dont spend any time under the bonnet lol , i used to use a landrover when i worked for a company in devon and i found that at 6ft2 tall it was really not comfortable to drive but each to there own i think if you have one vehicle that you use for everything then yeah maybe a landy is for you but i want this to be for utility work where it will not be carrying massve weight but it will spend loads of time off road etc . as for getting stuck myself and dangerous brian were out in the snow on rthurday at work and ended up pulling cars and transit vans up a fairly steep hill and to be honest i was pretty impressed how well the ranger did tbh. but i must say thanks for the advice tommer i do appreciate it mate , give me a shout next time the landy is stuck in a muddy puddle lmao
  5. cool thanks tom i will give them a shout in the morning . IO really do think that its the one think that the ranger lacks well other than a meaty chasis lol
  6. Hiya guys , i have been thinking about fitting diff locks to my ford ranger as it is not fitted with them but im not at all sure weather this is possible , my idea was to look into fitting air lockers a bit like the ones that can be fitted to a landrover , does anyone know if this is possible ??
  7. it will be used for both , but mainly self recovery and recovering the chipper or even other vehicles tommer
  8. yeah verry true ,i will have to give trust a call and see what they say as i have a fleet policy which is not specific to and vehicle , thanks for that will look into it
  9. i am running some husky 357xp's and apart from the trouble with the carb on one saw needing replacment i have not had any trouble with them and to be fair husky did replace the carbs on all my 357's for free which is more than can be said for stihl , i have had several ms200t's that have had the dodgy carbs in them from new and at less than 6 months old they need replacing , so i ring stihl technicle services and tell them what the problem is and the make and model of the carb and they tell me that i will need to buy new carbs and that they will not replace them or discount the cost of the carbs !!! Both Stihl and Husky have their downfalls but personally if you like husky's then i wouldf go for a 357xp
  10. i would agree that there is nowt wrong with a bit of filler BUT if im spending 40 i want more than a few tins of filler , a merc badge and a vos sticker for it
  11. not for everything that comes with it no , all sounds just a bit too go to be true , personally i would source a mog , then look into getting a chipper and then a trailer at least that way you get exactll what you want
  12. yeah will do , i would have poped over today but brian had the truck and the scooby only likes doing circles ha ha , as for the mogs i think it really is a case of trial and error , and knowing what your looking at . tbh i would not look at paying 40k on a u1300 with a chipper and trailer ,
  13. i really dont get it , if vos has such a bad reputation then how the hell does he sell so many mogs ?? i have heard of some terror stories regarding them but you do have to ask your self just how many of then are true and how many people buy a mog and dont know what they are doing with it ???
  14. i spoke to a fabricator and to make something to fit my truck would cost me 450 - 500 quid , at least if you buy a winch mount from a company you may have some come back if it breaks etc i have learnt the hard way before when trying to save a few quid - it dont work , simples!
  15. im looking to get a longer flip line , i curently use a 3m flip line but find that sometimes its not quite big enough when chogging down stems . does anyone use a 4 or 5 meter flip line ? if so where did you get it from
  16. we brought a cran company in to quote for some contract lifting on a job where we had 14 macrocarpas to come down behing some bungalows with verry little access and boardering the main train line , the crane company wanted to use the 180 ton crane because of the distance from the setting out poinf for the crane and the trees and also due to the trail line . it was explained to me by the company that they needed to ensure that the crane would opperate safely in such a location and because of the distance from carne driver to the tree there was a risk that some of the timber could swing and could possibly take the load out side of the working radius which could result in the crane clooapsing . any wya in the end network rail would not give us full posession of the line and had to be done under a t2 . the cost of the crane was going to be £1076.35 plus vat per day and we were going to want the crane there for 3 days . shame it didnt plan out as it would have been great fun
  17. ha ha great stuff , but im pretty certain that vosa would make a special journey down to see us:laugh1:
  18. if i thought i could get away with driving the forwarder on the road i would seriously considder buying it lol
  19. lol funny as fook , sadly you dont get to see it happen down here for real that much as western power now use swedish pole climbers
  20. wicked thanks steve , did you fit a winch bumper to yours then
  21. yeah it was south west commercials = never again
  22. Tell you what brian see if you can get two as i need on myself Oh and while your at it see if you can get a whold ford ranger so that we can replace Tommers rot box for him
  23. not related to the topic but funt any way - my dad bought a brand new M3 when it was launched in 08 and looked after it like a baby , any way last november he went in and paid £600 for two tyres to be fitted to it , this was done and off he went - as he is driving home along a back road he approches a blind corner driving ar roughly 30-40 mph only to be met by a jcb coming the other way !!! Lets just say the jcb won ha ha oh and the m3 was a total right off
  24. you never got your chinos and gucci shoes wet did you bob ?? and only on your second day in the office lol
