  1. hmmm do you think he wants a job ?
  2. i want one lol
  3. i saw a chap climbing using a swivel as his attachment point and the bridge on his harness actually wore a grove out of the swivel !!!
  4. i must admit i would not considder taking anyone on that does not hold the relevent certs for the job applied for . and tbh as a self employed person you still have a duty of care to thos arround you which in a round about way would mean that if something were to go wrong whilst you as a self employed person was carrying out (but not trained to do ) and something was to go wron injuring both your self and or fellow workers or the public then the HSE would have every power to throw the book at you .
  5. not meaning to sound picky but your above comment does clearly state that you SHOULD have CS30 which would indicate to me that it is not a requirement it is mearly a preference !???
  6. i hold both CS40 and 41 BUT not every day do i carry out work that require these certs , in fact i would go as far to say that most of the time the job can be carried out without the requirement of 40/41. but to my knowlege there is nothing saying that i must not use a rope to lower a small limb if i do not have 40/41 neither am i aware that i can not carry out crown lifting or thinning opperations if i do not have 40/41 . and i have not heard of an insurance company that states you must have these to carru out tree work . how many guys on here actually have CS40/41 ??
  7. chassis and second gear are great thanks mate , the proof of the pudding is in the eating , whilst out on a call out in the middle of the night for western power i ended up having to tow an 08 plate landrover defender out of a boggy field because his half shaft had snapped lmao . if im hones i never thought thet the ranger could do it but it did
  8. i did try that Mozza but was told you coulkd not dress a christmas tree , not sure what they meant by it but hey im sure someone has a little more faith in you ha ha
  9. sorry chaps , i think the strepsils are starting to get to me lol , but could do with a climber and groundy down here anyway lol

  17. Where is geordy boy ????
  18. Speaking from experience the clearence of trees from proximity to powerlines should where ever possible should be carried out to comply with BS3998 , there is not case of only getting the minimum clearence because of public outcry in conservation or tpo areas its in fact down to the company carrying out the work , the intrest of the serveyor and the skill of the climber carrying out the work to the tree . BUT some companies are not willing to spend time working to BS3998 and that is when you get the L shaped trees etc but what also needs to be taken into account is the utiilittys act which in fact allowes a powerline clearence contractor to cut any tree that is touching powerlines and could result in electrocution or death to gain a 1 meter clearence without having to ask the LA's permision ,however this act IMO is obused and used far to easily . as for cutting one side off of a tree to gain a clearence is still not acceptable and the company that has done the work could be liable should the tree or assosiated trees fail or become dangerous . Basicly there is still no need for trees to be butchered for the sake of powerlines . as for the railway im not at all sure how there rules and regs work
  19. sounds like i went down the same route as you , good to hear your doing well
  20. Huck you said earl;yer in this thread that it was partially your fault because you sold the pile of timber thatc was hiding the shed !! This really gets me because why should you have to do things like not sell piles of timber for fear of the thieving swines noticing your container ?? you like many of us have worke bloody hard to get what you have got !! and personally i think that having a dog that lets you know someone is there is a great idea I used to work for a company that did all of the tree work for the mod down this way and one day was chatting to one of the security guards who patroled with a dog and asked him how much training it took to get the dogs to take an intruder to the ground! . His reply to me was that they are not allowed to let the dogs off their leed to stop an intruder even tho there is a 12 foot perimetre fence topped of with razor wire and with visible signs telling the public to keep out . Just goes to show how soft the country has gone when it comes to intruders and oppertunist thieves.
  21. ha ha like you said we did tell him . i still have your card and drinks here , if your in tomorrow a will try to pop up with them mate , i totally forgot on the last day of work and again on christmad eve lol .

  22. nice to see that not everyone feels that tree reductions must leve the tree looking like a lolly pop (not a dig at anyone on here) i personally like to keep the tree looking as un uniformed as possible . on this job i think the corronet cuts are well chosen and really finnished the job off well . Great work guys!!
  23. the accident had alredy been reported to the hse under Riddor . TBH i think alot of this is caused by the crazy blame culture that we live in
  24. such an awfull way to go , thought go out to his familly and friends
