  1. what a load of crap !!! if you watch the closing credits you will see that they had a 14 man support team with them all the time !!
  2. hi guys i have got loads of monterey pines to take down over the next couple months , any way i was down in my unit earlyer looking at the spare set of bashlin alloy spikes and thought about putting a set of long gaffs on them to get through ther thick bark on the montereys but have never used long gaffs before and was wondering if any of you have done this before ?? also what are your thoughts on long gaffs ?? cheers Dave
  3. i really hope that the new 357 does not come with one !! if it does i will be going back to the stihl361 or what is now the 362
  4. tbh if you start using bigger ropes then you will find it quite hard to get a mechanicle aid to back up a fig 8 , when i use mine on marlow rope if i need to back it up i will use a distel (on the running line ) or even a blake hitch would do the job also if you are using bigger ropes then i would ger a fig 8 with the side wings because it has been known for the rope to flip over the fig 8 leaving you with a larks head hitch that you can not do much about lol
  5. speaking from a background in cliff work i would reccomend a shunt , its simple and compact , it can be used for both double and single line decents but rope size would be an issue , as for how to set it up if you look in the instruction leflet that comes with a shunt it shows you , but when im next near my rock gear i will set it up and take a couple pics (the old groundy wont get them either bob) lol
  6. looks like great fun , i was really hoping to get my subaru into a snow covered field for some high speed fun but sadly there was no snow down here lol
  7. what makes you think it aint working bud ?? unless the half shaft has snapped i cant really see how it would not be working thb
  8. find a really muddy field and see if you get stuck lol , of failing that take it down to tommers place lol on a serious not i guess you would need to jack up all four corners and put her in frst and see what happens
  9. or simply wait for an accident to happen to you and call a NO WIN NO FEE cliams company lmao:lol:
  10. i have a fleet policy through trust but mine is for 5 or more vehicles but give them a call as they might be able to do something for two mate
  11. hmmm do you think he wants a job ?
  12. i want one lol
  13. i saw a chap climbing using a swivel as his attachment point and the bridge on his harness actually wore a grove out of the swivel !!!
  14. i must admit i would not considder taking anyone on that does not hold the relevent certs for the job applied for . and tbh as a self employed person you still have a duty of care to thos arround you which in a round about way would mean that if something were to go wrong whilst you as a self employed person was carrying out (but not trained to do ) and something was to go wron injuring both your self and or fellow workers or the public then the HSE would have every power to throw the book at you .
  15. not meaning to sound picky but your above comment does clearly state that you SHOULD have CS30 which would indicate to me that it is not a requirement it is mearly a preference !???
  16. i hold both CS40 and 41 BUT not every day do i carry out work that require these certs , in fact i would go as far to say that most of the time the job can be carried out without the requirement of 40/41. but to my knowlege there is nothing saying that i must not use a rope to lower a small limb if i do not have 40/41 neither am i aware that i can not carry out crown lifting or thinning opperations if i do not have 40/41 . and i have not heard of an insurance company that states you must have these to carru out tree work . how many guys on here actually have CS40/41 ??
  17. chassis and second gear are great thanks mate , the proof of the pudding is in the eating , whilst out on a call out in the middle of the night for western power i ended up having to tow an 08 plate landrover defender out of a boggy field because his half shaft had snapped lmao . if im hones i never thought thet the ranger could do it but it did
  18. i did try that Mozza but was told you coulkd not dress a christmas tree , not sure what they meant by it but hey im sure someone has a little more faith in you ha ha
