  1. i gave the vt another go this week but still im not really getting on with it , i was thinking maybe it is the cord im using which is the yale silver felck (i think thats what its called anyway ) so i was wondering what size prussic cord you guys are using and what makes . cheers guys
  2. i gave the pferd files a go and found them really coarse which aint too good when your only putting the edge back on a saw but they are really useful if someone has deced the saw and you need to take quite a bit of dammaged chain off . has and one seen or used the bar dressing tool ?? i have had one for a few years and really reccomend them
  3. it also does not look too different to the commet butterfly , but still it looks like a good harness
  4. anyone got any pictures of the harness ??
  5. close but not close enough , looks like my local dealer has been charging a bit too much !!! well to be exact it looks like he is charging me the full pice inc vat and then adding a bit more vat on top nive avitar by the way bob
  6. a bleieve the anvil is in two parts and costs roughly £181.00 exc vat - apparently the anvil in the 190 is case hardened and there fore should not need changing for at least 800-1000 hours minimum
  7. check the carb make and its serial number , then call stihl and give them the info , if it is the same carb then they shoud replace it free of charge , the carb that you want is a Warbro carb and not a Zamma. one you get the arb changed that should be the end of your problems mate
  8. the hopper has to come off (two of you should be able to lift it , then you heed to take the bottom fed roler out which is a bit more awkward mate , tell you what if you like give me a call (07790206316) and i will talk you through it . but to be honest my tw190 has done roughly 600 hrs now and the anvil still does not need to be replaced , oh and thats the other thing , the anvil can not be turned !! it has to be replaced (as far as i know) my other thought is how warn are the blades ?? i have found that as my blades get closer to the minimum wear markers that the chip does become a littly stringy . also are you having the blades hollow ground ?? this also can afect the preformance of the chipper and the chip that if produces . any way hope this is of help and should you need any more help just give me a call mate
  9. it its anything like the rancher the be prepared for the oil pump to pack up within a short period of time mate
  10. well said , i found that i had to push at every oppertunity , it may put some noses out of joint but hey thats life mate
  11. true , and this was a hire machine lol
  12. ithing the 125 with feed rolers is a great machine for what it is mate , but the smaller push round a grden jobby is a pile of rubbish mate
  13. hmmm , i had a look into the tw chiper and its simply a smaller version of the 125 with a tiny flie wheel and one blade it really was crap , it was that bad that in the end we gve up and milled it all down with a saw
  14. hmmmm the timberwolf was really poor , it was harder to see what it had broken down rather than what it had not , i tried to excuse it because we were chipping privet but it sholu be able to handle that surely
  15. i tried out the timberwolf version about 3 weeks ago on a job with no access (took it through the house) and found that because it was gravity fed that when you put any privet or leylandi through it dragged it into the chipper so fast that it almost came out the other end whole !!! whats the green mech like
  16. i tend to use a screwgate to attach my saw strop to my harness , simply make sure that you do the screw gate up while its under load and it should not come undone , who uses the plastic Petzel carabs ?? i have one for clipping my saw up short but have found that the platic flexes enough for thr gate to be the wrong side of the gate and my saw has fallen out several times but thankfully no dammage to myself , kit of anyone elts because my saw is still attached to my harness by the screw gate !!!!!
  17. a tend to use my ART friction saver as far down the stem as it will go , but this is why i wish they did a version with a longer sling so that it will fit round bigger stems
  18. thnks bob , i have never had my saw strops or carabs for my tool strops inspected , best i do so:blushing:
  19. so do saw strops get inspected with lowering gear ??
  20. no probs mate , i am thinking of doing my tech cert , how have you found it ??
  21. get the make and model no of the carb and phone Stihl ,ask to speak Greham and give him the carm model no and name he will tell you if the carb is one of the dodgy ones and if so they should replace it for free , i had exactly the same problem with 3 of my stihl ms200T'S
  22. yeah they work a treat but can be a bit much if like you said the tree is more than 6 meters away i was using my set today funnily enough lol
  23. if the tree your trying to get accros into is quite dense of hard to access with a throwline of buy throwing your line into whilst in the other tree i would probably set a secondary line in the second tree before i start my climb .
  24. im right down in penzance mate , i did manages to get away for a few years but came back for "a few months" and never left lol . but i do love it down here , myself and all of my familly are from st Michaels Mount which makes it even more special when i drive back home and get the first glimps of the island
  25. gutted for you mate , maybe next time you should fru a couple or them over , mybe then the others will get the message not to try it , i know its not legal but hey neither is robbing a decant hard working guy . this type of thing really sickens me but i really hope that the guys are found that did it .get well soon mate
