  2. has anyone here ever tried clearing sawdust from a lawn with a brush ?? we use the brushes like the ones that road sweeping blokes use . i find that it is much better than using a rake and blower . or am i the only mad one doing things like this on here
  3. if only i could charge that in cornwall !!!!!!!
  4. nice , looks like a nice day for 3 men

  8. oh right cheers mate i will give them a go . what is there work like mate ?
  9. i have a mazda b2500 that i want to convert to a tipper at some point . im thinking of building the tipper my self and building it to my own spec . i looked into it and the ali planking to make the sides is easy which basicly leves setting everything out and making the frame work , not sure when i will get time yet but down here in cornwall its far far cheeper to do it your self . i got a price from a local company down here and i could not see how they could charge nearly 5k for a tipper
  10. so where we talking then ?? somewhere like birmingham ??
  11. it all depends on what kit you have to throw at the job i guess mate i would say for me it would be 2 day to take down , stack the timber chip nd tidy up for 3 men . but then i only have a 7.5 inch chipper and no way of removing timber in large sections to be stacked . alos i feel that even tho the gardeners are going to clear up i still would like to clean up as bet i can .
  12. yeah something around november or even feb would be good
  13. yes im currently lacking motivation . there is so much that i wanna do but for one reason or another i cant quite do yet . hows things going with you then shrek ?
  14. but shpuld you screw up when pruning or dismantling then the insurance will jump all over you . i did my cs40 and 41 about 3 years ago and it tought me loads that i did not alredy know and several skills that i had not been tought at merrist wood . IMO its well worth doing
  15. yeah i do agree but from the L/A's TO's point of view then i can imagine they would be more interested in retaining the tree taking into consideration its location and potential amenity value . but personally i think i would fell it and re plant with anothere blue atlantic
  16. great stuff . i currently have a pair of type c stretch air trousers with the longer leg and im really impressed with them .
  17. nice . do they do the in the extra long leg ?? they are only type a right?

  21. hmmm next year i will have to give it a go then . but at 17 stone and 6ft1 tall im sure i will come second . but should give us all a good laugh . i was gutted i could not come to this years show
  22. i would love to organise something like justin has but down in devon . maybe i will do one day . but next year i will be taking some time off and going to alot of the shows all round the country oh and congratulations on winning the climbing comp steve well done !
  23. i did not even get so much as a decent answer as to why this happened . further to this i asked the guys on the work wear stand at the a show as to why this happened !! all the could tell me is that Haix Boots are the best . i asked why they think this and the said its simply because they are full stop !!. im now looking to get some stretch air boots they are not quite as high as the Haix but so far i have not heard of one bad report !!
  24. i see your point mark but if your climbing with a strop and your main line then a snap hook may not be a good idea . i tend to either get a high anchor point with my throw line or use my main line and a 10 meter line to get up into the ascend up into the tree as i find it faster than thrutch up a bit , put you strop round then throw your main line further up then thrutch up and start the proces all over again . i guess the use of a snap really does depend on your stile of climbing . as for the different industry and different practices i would have thought that being up to 400 foot up working on a cliff with drilling macinery would have far more stringent rules . another thought is why does cant someone come up with a 3 way snap hook ?
  25. there may be some one more option and that is reduction of weight and several rod braces ! some may condem me for saying this but it is still an approved method . obviosly this is only possiblke in some cases but betwene rod bracing , weight reduction and a 4 ton cobra system or simikar you may well get another 2-3 years out of the tree but i would inspect the tree every 6-8 months .
