  1. great stuff i will be interested to see what its like !!!!!
  2. great stuff mate and good on your daughter for felling it . its great to see a father and daughter working together mate GREAT STUFF
  3. cheers mate i will give the vt a go tomorrow , i found that either the distel would bind up or if a altered it then it would not hold at all!!! as for the 880 - as it would happen i actually did leave it in the yard today . and further worse i did nearly the whole job with my zubat
  4. i dont blame you , so far the skylotec is the most comfortable i have ever used but im sure there will be something at some point that rivals it , has anyone got an oppinion on the tree austria 4 ??? sorry to derail the thread mate
  5. thats what i mean mate , the new sport does not have the rigid leg loops mate unlike the origional skylotec . the leg loops are more like the sequoia leg loops
  6. have a look at the new light weight version , i think they have called it the sport but dont quote me on that , from what i saw it looks like a much more flexible than its bigger brother and it has quick relese leg loops . justin would be the guy to sak . but obviously my thoughts on the harness is purely my own preference:001_smile:
  7. i have spent today reducing a beech tree by 20% and used my ART rope guide and Lock Jack , whilst climbing a was thinking about giving my hitcher that a bought at the aa show a go . so at lunch time i gave it a go using a distel but i really could not get on with it at all
  8. have you thought of trying either of the new skylotec harnesses ?? there are two new versions on the way out . i looked at both when i was at the AA arb show i think they are reallyu going to be popular . and that reminds me i will ask justin when they are being released on sale as i will be buying one
  9. lol its about time silky made something much bigger than a sugoi then i personally woul rather not use saws that size up in trees , it takes the joy out of the job IMO:001_huh:
  10. gutted . i just used it as an engagement ring lol . only messing . i hae a stein friction saver . do they use these rings
  11. im going to say tree surgeons grounds men ha ha
  12. nope not obsessed at all mate as for nearly every post a make being about them i guess it depends on which posts your looking at !!! my refrence to chains comming off was regarding the 5 foot bar !! as i have previously said , i prefer to use larger saws with bars that do not put too much stress on the unit its self! my 880 is running a 30 inch bar alot of the time but i have the 46 inch bar for the bigger trees . when in a tree i tend to use a smaller saw such as my 288 xp (which im replacing but not sure what with yet) .
  13. i found with the 5 foot bar you have to genly rest the nose of the bar on the top of the piece of wood your cutting and gently feed the bar and saw in towards the piece of timber . as for felling with it i really can not see any point at all . as you said alot of people dont realise that using a supper size saw is totally diferent to using the likes of the 660 with 30 inch bar . great tips as well andy
  14. true true mate that is how its going to be in future:thumbup:
  15. well put mate i will do that next time and tell them to put there appeal to you in wrighting
  16. do they do an ms900 yet ??
  17. i did get one it to demo but the bloody groundy would not bother with the rake or shovel insted he would spend hours blowing the mess everywhere . i personally hate blowers full stop . they are great if used properly but normally the average groundy will pick it up insted of using the clean up gear and blow the mess to another area .
  18. when i worked for the arb agency when i was up in devon they had an 088 with the 64 inch bar (5 Foot) and that was even more tirsty , the saw never left the yard without 2 20 liter jerry cans lol . tbh there was no point in having such a big saw at all its only use was for cross cutting timber . if you tried anythin other than cross cutting then the saw would throw the chain i will only take the ms880 out on site when i really really need it
  19. great thread Mr ed . i will be interested to see the outcome !!!
  20. is the show based on forrestry or is there quite alot of arb based stuff there as well ?? i would love to go but i cant se the point in going to a forestry show when i dont do much if and forrestry:001_smile:
  21. down here the local L/A dont really take down many street trees at all ! this is partly because there are verry few street trees and secondly because the TO that inspects all of the street trees has a tough stance on felling trees . however its a shame that some of the street trees down here have been butchered by the minority of the LA tree cutters ! there are a few good climbers/ arborists down here that do take a pride in what they do but moving slightly away from the street trees , down here there is alot of highway road side pruing that gets done and quite frankly its shocking how poor alot of the work i have seen has been done !! i did look into why this is the case and the answer was - on the whole the tree cutters do the best they can but we dont have the time or the money to work on these trees in the same way we do with street trees !!! If that was a private company carrying out sub standard work and simply pasing it off in this way then im sure we would have the LA breathing down our necks!!!!
  22. sounds like a great oppertunity , if i did not have a familly and my own busines over here a would jump at the chance
  23. cool sounds a decent price mate . i will give you a shout when im ready and we can sort something out . i may also buy another highlux and get one fitted to that insted . how much you selling your truck for tho ?
  24. i would be happy doing that for £600 and get tommer in to plank it
  25. you would be suprised to hear how many companies down this way dont have a lowering kit and how many climbers dont know how to use one either . i used to regularly work for a guy that could not climb and did not have any kit !! and when i mean he does not have any kit i man that i was supplying all my saws (ms200t - ms880) climbing gear (as expected) lowering kit , chipper , clean up kit and truck . i used to do the work for the guy because i was just starting out but now two years on i have decided that i would rather not have any work rather than provide all the kit to do someone elts work and for them to then have the cheek to tell the customer that he has worked hard to get all of "his own kit" .
