  1. the guys that work for me are self employed and if the weather is that bad we cant work then i will find something for them all to do whether it be logs or saw cleaning and general yard work there is a;lways something for them to do , i have been a contract climber and know how tough it can be when you have 3 bad days in a week and earn nothing at all so i try to make sure there is something we can all do !
  2. have a read through the post and im sure you will get the answer to your questions ,
  3. my thoughts really are with the guys family . has anyone heard how it happened yet ?
  4. i buy all of my chains from brandon hire in penzance , they give me 20-25% discount off of all bars and chains that i buy , and what makes it even better is they can order chains for any of my husky or stihl chains from still whicn normally get delivered the next day , and stihl chain on a husky saw is just as good as any other chain . alot of dealers do no realise or let there customers know that they can buy chain for husky, tanaka , makita and a few othera from stihl . as a rough guide i pay £11 for chains to fit my ms200t
  5. does anyone know if the stein or art friction savers are using these rings ????
  6. long gaffs tend to help as well if your taking them down !! i have one in a few weeks once the crows have left it alone !!!
  7. the problem with the road signs that go on road cones do not stand up to windy weather well at all , however if you are working on a site for a short period of time then they are quite good to be honest , i have seen the local council using them and they seem to get on with them . i tend to use the fold up road signs with added balest bags to stop them blowing away . oh and as for the roas signs that go over cones they are not meant to be used on any road with a speed limmit of more than 30mph . oh and are not intended to be used over night either as they do not meet reflective standards. hope this helps mate
  8. i will be giving them a shout in the near future , i hve a couple of jobs to do . one is in plymouth and the other is down here . what size cranes are they running ?? when i say size a should say what is there lifting cappacity?
  9. how did you get on with the skylotec then shrek ??
  10. justin are the two new versions of the skylotec on sale yet ??
  11. some great points mark and an angle that i had not looked at .
  12. great stuff mate , brian and i are still using your origional that he bought on ebay and so far we are really happy with how it preforms . well done mate
  13. great job mate . what are hewdens like for charging when it comes to cranes ??
  14. i was under the impression that you should always have a "back up " or secondary anchor point when working in a tree as well ! if this is the case then whay it the problem with the snap hook ?? i know what your saying and not personally aving a go at you but you have to admit it does seem a bit daft
  15. great stuff i will be interested to see what its like !!!!!
  16. great stuff mate and good on your daughter for felling it . its great to see a father and daughter working together mate GREAT STUFF
  17. cheers mate i will give the vt a go tomorrow , i found that either the distel would bind up or if a altered it then it would not hold at all!!! as for the 880 - as it would happen i actually did leave it in the yard today . and further worse i did nearly the whole job with my zubat
  18. i dont blame you , so far the skylotec is the most comfortable i have ever used but im sure there will be something at some point that rivals it , has anyone got an oppinion on the tree austria 4 ??? sorry to derail the thread mate
  19. thats what i mean mate , the new sport does not have the rigid leg loops mate unlike the origional skylotec . the leg loops are more like the sequoia leg loops
  20. have a look at the new light weight version , i think they have called it the sport but dont quote me on that , from what i saw it looks like a much more flexible than its bigger brother and it has quick relese leg loops . justin would be the guy to sak . but obviously my thoughts on the harness is purely my own preference:001_smile:
  21. i have spent today reducing a beech tree by 20% and used my ART rope guide and Lock Jack , whilst climbing a was thinking about giving my hitcher that a bought at the aa show a go . so at lunch time i gave it a go using a distel but i really could not get on with it at all
  22. have you thought of trying either of the new skylotec harnesses ?? there are two new versions on the way out . i looked at both when i was at the AA arb show i think they are reallyu going to be popular . and that reminds me i will ask justin when they are being released on sale as i will be buying one
  23. lol its about time silky made something much bigger than a sugoi then i personally woul rather not use saws that size up in trees , it takes the joy out of the job IMO:001_huh:
  24. gutted . i just used it as an engagement ring lol . only messing . i hae a stein friction saver . do they use these rings
  25. im going to say tree surgeons grounds men ha ha
