  1. ok i will re fraise it - many of us that have read the origional post have picked over it and the mojority of the posts are negative .
  2. Hang on a minute guys , there is page after page of people freely mocking an advertised job vacancy because the feel they have a reason to do so . personally i feel that the job vacancy was posted on here in case anyone fancied a job . i cant see any reason for it to be posted on here for all of us to pick over pay etc etc . if any of you were yto read the replies to one of your posts about a vacancy you had would you not be a little annoyed about it ?? further to this it really does not look at all professional and personally feel that this could create a divide betwene the industry and the colleges that are training future staff and employees . but this is only my personal oppinion !!
  3. hi guys , im in need of a groundy for next week as dangerous brian is off on his jollys lol so im looking for a gorundy/ college leaver for the week but there is also a chance for long term work should it work out . pm me if interested:wink:
  4. i first started out in 1999 and still loving being out on the saws but not too keen on the office side of things lol
  5. im currently using a pair of eltens that i was given free when i bought some kit 18 months ago . i had worn them a couple times but that was it so when i sent the haix back i started using them . they seem to be ok so far but i really wana get a pair of the new stretch air boots next
  6. i bought 3 pairs of haix bots earlyer this year and within 4 weeks the soles had started comming off !! one pair the sole had completly come off of one boot , another pair the sole was nearly off of one boot and the third pair the sole was starting to come off and a couple eyelets had started to putt through !!!! i had been using Haix boots for 5 years leading up to this but sadly have not bought another pair since
  7. gutted , just went to have a look and bidding has ended so i cant even look at it lol . i might buy a wood mizer soon !!!!! only kidding tommer , a mog comes before anything elts lol
  8. what did you do for the other 3 days lol . only messing , looks like a great job mate . nice one
  9. cheers mate , i may well look into getting a 660 then , i was quoted £620 exc vat for a 460 and £650 exc vat for a husky 390 xp
  10. yeah i have dome accros a couple , one is a certin pine but lets not mention that lol . i believe in using morepowerfull saws with smaller bars , less stress on the saw and more productive cutting
  11. like i said in my origional post , i would liuke a newer big saw for work within the tree . ie whan im climbing . i know i can fell nearly three times the bar size but what the hell ! i have an ms 880 so no need for that lol . i have been thinking about buying a 441 but have heard conflicting reports on them
  12. yeah i think so , its been a few years since a have seen any of them . think i might have to bore the misus tonight and see if i cand find any of them to watch ha ha
  13. great vid tom , what size husky is it that your using in that vid ??
  14. How wierd , i was just about to wright somethn along those lines , im sure they were extras in hot shots part deux !!!!!!!!!!
  15. dont get me wrong , i know what you mean . i would not say that im the fastest of climbers but i pride my self on getting the job done safely and to the highest of standards , i run my own company and we do get a large share of the big jobs down here . i have had "fast" climbers come to work for me and 2 out of 3 times it has ended in tears when something gets broken . but down here in cornwall there are not many firms that will pay any more than £120 a day for a spot on climber . 3 years ago i was subbing out to companies with all of my own saws , climbing gear and a lowering kit and i could still only get £80 a day
  16. looks like a bit of Rhododendron as well , oh
  17. i think the trouble with working one day a week and charging £1000 per day is that the sort of work there is out there is few and far betwene . down here in cornwall i would get about a day a month if i was lucky
  18. cool , i may weel pop up mate , but will give you a shout before i do .
  19. only if she is over 34 stone and has something to strap round her waist lmao
  20. too right they are , firstly i would need a groundsman that can take pictures oh and secondly i will need a new cammera !!!!!!!
  21. im sure there have been similar threads done before but here goes - im looking to replace my old husky 288XP , it has been a great saw that is still used on a daily basis but its starting to show signs that its loosing power . so do i get a stihl ms660 or maybe something slightly smaller or do i go for a husky that is similar in size ?? my main requirment is that it needs to be climber friendly ! as the 880 with 36 inch bar on it is a tad to heavy for taking down a main stem whilst on spikes , i have had a stihl ms361 for the last couple years and it has been an amazing saw both on the ground and in the tree but i cant help wnting to give a husky a go . so what do you guys suggest????
  22. i think if i was working as a subby climber using my own climbing gear , saws from my ms200 - ms880 , pluss a lowering kit i would expect no less than 250 a day
  23. wicked thakns chaps will do . i personally can get rid of all my chip but im down in cornwall and i guess for my mate in london its totally different
  24. it depends on what i was subbing out i guess
