  1. aha nice one! Got some 046 large dogs in the shed, might put on the 361, got small 044 ones on at the moment, to stop the outside one sticking out, just filed out the holes a bit on the dog and made them sit level, if you get what i mean
  2. and even if the holes dont line up that can soon be altered with a drill
  3. hell 2 months???? if it was me i would have just popped the rivets out and put it right myself onsite
  4. little fergys and david browns are great, we run both!!! 2 35's for sawbench, logsplitter and mower david brown 1212 for post knocker, sawbench, logsplitter and winch all great tactors dont have any expirence with pto chippers, so cant help you with that sorry
  5. I agree with both of the above, we have 2, a 270 in nice condition for topping, chain harrowing, towing, running a logspillter and a sawbench, and a smaller one, not sure what model, that runs just enough to run the sawbench
  6. niceeeee one, was waiting for someone to post a pic of a shinny saw, they are bloody great saws, at work ours gets used for big hardwood felling and it copes well, the one problem you may find with it that it doesnt oil enough... we put an uprated oiler in it, think it got it from jonesie cant remember, great saw tho
  7. alright man, how much you want for the bar and chain? any pics also
  8. yeah probably cut a load or two of firewood
  9. yeah cant wait, many hunts having theres on boxing day? ours is on the monday i'll only be following in my landy this year, as i havent been keeping the horse fit
  10. get down your local farm sale theres often a lot on ebay McConnel Saw bench on eBay (end time 18-Jan-11 21:47:49 GMT) mcconnell saw bench driven by tractor pto logs on eBay (end time 28-Dec-10 08:43:55 GMT) McConnel tractor pto driven circular saw bench on eBay (end time 23-Dec-10 20:48:43 GMT) what have bandsaws got to do with circular saws? they are only accidents waiting to happen if used incorectly, i think that an unguarded bench is pretty safe, you can easily see the danger, and then in turn work steadier, with the blade guards like on the firewood processing ones (like our japa) the danger is hid and you are likly to work faster thinking its 100% safe, then it will get you.
  11. Helmet - Husqvarna one for sure, much better (in my opinion) than the Stihl or Oregon ones Gloves - I think for the chainsaw courses you only require one hand (left) to have protection, i hate the Husqvarna ones, i have an older pair and find that they are very restrictive, i would go for the Oregon ones, much comfier, and last fairly well. Trousers - As you are not planning on climbing go for front protection, but if you feel safer with all round, then go for them, whatever suits you, Stihl Hi-flex are very comfy and light Boots - I hate the wellies, used them at college, i have used Stein boots, but they fall apart... i use Stihl forest boots, dunno the actuall name, really good boots Jacket - I have never worn a protective jacket, so cant comment. Hope this helps
  12. we sell tons and tons of poplar, willow and various conifiers, most not very well seasoned, no complaints... go figure. People dont just want hardwoods.
  13. was reading a book at college while back, how to convert your farm tractor for the forest or summin like that had a bit about them in there, they seem like good ideas, and to be honest i dont think it would take long to knock a few up out of summin, maybe a few tyres or some old roofing tin?
  14. this one by any chance thats a fineeee pile of timber
  15. nice video testcricket!!!! im really getting into my rigging (well and my climbing to be honest ) so its great watching all these videos cheers for posting!
  16. we dont have a metal dector, kinda just hope for the best i guess, and we mill a lot of hedgerow trees... if we spot abit (hopefully before the blade goes through it) we just cut it out with the saw like here for example we were very lucky, had to take a slice off the side with the saw as the log was slightly to wide for the milling and we unearthed abit of barbwire, glad we found it before the bandsaw did
  17. i just use a webbing tool strop, work fine worked with a guy who uses this tho

  20. cheers man! yeah she is a beast! Its got a pto powered hydraulic pump, the tractor doesnt have to be revving loads which is ideal Yeah it is permanatly attached not on th 3pl, but its still a great unit as it has a hycrack splitter driven off the pulley on the side Take a look here http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/11966-hycrack.html
  21. Ours is really easy to move around, it doesnt have the propper norwood trailer kit, it was a bog standard lumbermate mill that was adapted by its previous owner, you simply lift the one end up either with a hand winch that came with it, which is good for remote location, but we always just use the loader, then slide the wheels in each side, i'll get some pics soon then theres a draw bar that slides in and away you go
  22. cheers mark! Yeah came over easy, as i was up the tree we did put the winch cable in it, thought it would be better to have it and not need it, but didnt need a pull, just a couple of taps on the wedge
  23. ahhh i wondered if you would be lurking around in here, cheers man, yeah man its a sweet bit of timber, gunna be milling it up some time next year, probably into inch boards then put it in the shed to dry out, or if somone wants some odd sizes knock it up into that Hope your well, get on here more
  24. Did this tree a while back, only just got round to posting the pics Big Oak tree that we took down for a farmer, granddads had a lot of timber of this guy over the years Reason for felling is that a shed or building is to be built underneth or near where the tree was, i know that some of you will moan about removing a tree like this, just enjoy the pics I climbed the tree and knocked a big branch off the one side, first time is used a 440 up a tree Granddad fell it with the 070, love watching him work. Cleared the cord wood out with the major. Granddad then split the trunk with the 070, so it can be transported and to get it on the mill Was a good weekend

    Crap day

ahahaa cheers man we didnt do it the way they used to back in the day, which was just chucking a tyre under there, apparently they were the best for thawing out tractors but a few sticks and some rag did the job
