Welcome to the forum As for the money issues, i know where your coming from, being 19 myself, hav you though about going back to college for a year or two and doing a forestry/arb national diploma or somthing similar? I did an ND Forestry and Arboriculture straight after i left school, i got CS30, 31, 38, 39, PA1 and 6, and First Aid at Work Certificate all for free, as part of the course And learnt a hell of a lot in the course

  7. Hi guys! I have a Land Rover 90 Truck Cab with an Ifor Williams style back on, its brilliant and i do love it, but it is really lacking in space... Ideally it needs a roof rack, i have been needing to move a fair boards and fencing rails around which is possing a problem, ladders, for my chainsaw mill and tree work arent too bad on the roof with a rachet strap right round, but i dont know what it would look like in the eyes of the law... Anyway i have been thinking if i got hold of an old 90 hard top roof rack, and then added some steel box on the ifor willams for the rack to go onto, would that work? Finding it pretty hard to explain, but basicly would th ifor willams be strong enough? and would i be allowed to do this? And... anyone got a roof rack they want to get rid of? Cheers guys
  8. ahaha yeah man thats him, aha noiiiice

Ahaha yeah my grandad was on countryfile the other night, only briefly but i still think its pretty cool BBC iPlayer - Countryfile: 01/05/2011 If you wanna see it, start watching from like 9 mins, grandad is on at 10ish ahaha Its a pretty good episode about the three counties, worth watching it all
  10. and when choking willow stems by the river its not too bad when you loose the pin we normally find a bolt to fit it, but we lost the shackle itself
  11. i would just make the husky bar fit with the help of a drill and angle grinder if nessisary, then either add or take a few drive links of out the husky chain to fit the stihl, simples a lot cheaper too!

  18. cheeers guys well keen for going there! ahaha that would be sweet, its not a degree though, just a college type course cant remember what level it actually is, the same as what i've been doing at the moment, with agricultural engineering, but im not really fussed what qualification i get, i just want to learn all about it
  19. Yeahh thats right got a letter today saying I have been accepted at Barony College in Dumfries to study Forestry Engineering starting in August I cant wait its gunna be sweet! Probably going to drive my old landy up there, and will be looking for weekend work, so arbtalkers in the area if ya need any help let me know
  20. your certainly not mad! forestry work is lovely work! thats all we do pretty much, its only recently that i am starting to enjoy the climbing side of things, but i would still rather be knocking over some big timber seen as though you have some nice kit, go for it! we work with a lot less than that, as many people on here know our kit is rather old. im sorry i cant really help you on the pricing side of things, thats my cousins and granddads field, but in my opinnion a general figure can not be given about how much can be felled and extracted in day, too many things to take into account, ground conditions, access, speices, size, break downs.... the list goes on
  21. nice video! enjoyed watching it! where did you get the stihl jumper from? i want one
  22. axe men has turned into a bit more of a tv show for a wider audience, to begin with they showed more falling and explained a bit more of the extraction process, well i thought they did anyway, now its got the aqua logging crew and shelby which make it a bit more entertaining, i still love it though! heli loggers is awesome but i would hate to be "jigging" (think it was called that) those trees i would rather be knocking them over aha another good one is swamp loggers, now they have some nice kit! Swamp Loggers: Meet the Loggers : Video : Discovery Channel
  23. i dont do much climbing but i still want one!!!!
