  5. cheers! yeah i did look into the legal side before wiring up, i have wired them into my main beams, but have a isolator switch so i can stop them from working with the main beam switch when on the main road
  6. I've wanted to put some roof mounted lights on my landy for a while now, but i really didnt want to spend 60 quid + on a light bar, so got the old arc welder out and made my own The spot lights are just 12v 55w tractor work lamps, much cheaper than any of of the spotlights on the landy type websites Wired them up at college today and they work really well, well pleased so much more satisfying making somthing yourself
  7. i've always used 5.5mm on 3/8's chains, but i run .404 chains aswell so this way i only need one file size

  11. Alright guys! Thats right i might be coming to scotland aha, I've been wondering what to do next year, and have now been thinking about going to college in scotland, so i've looked into a bit more and i am thinking about doing a Forestry type Engineering course at Barony College in Dumfries. I have already done a 2 year ND Forestry course and am now doing a Agricultural Engineering course, so i kind of wanted to combine to two plus i've never been to scotland Me and granddad are heading up on the train tomorow afternoon and then going to the college open day on wednesday, really looking forward to have a look around. Well excited and thought i would let the arbtalk world know ahaha. Also if i do decide to go up there, it may not be for me, so i'll find out on wednesday, i will have to lodge up there, and was wondering if anyone in the area would have any work at the weekends or whenever im free? Long shot but worth an ask Cheers guys Liam

  17. Alright guys Just got home, and as i was coming up the lane my landy's steering started pulling a hell of a lot to the left, at first i thought i may have a flat, had a look and nope, didnt have a look under the hood at the steering arms its dark and i wanted to get inside. I wont be needing it till monday really so its not a major thing at the moment, just wondering if anyone could suggest what it may be, off the top of their head like, so i know what i may be in store for Oh yeah its a 1984 Land Rover 90 Cheers Liam
  18. yeah most of the time they can be bent back by hand, 2 weeks ago falling some ash and one grabbed the bar and gave him a bend, put him between through the side of the grab on the forwarder and gave him a pull, jobs a good un
  19. interesting thread tcd, looking forward to replies! i dont have a clue what i cant cut in a day, been working on first thinnings recently, oak and ash, but im always on day rate Just gone into some nice ash thinnings last week, was knocking a fair bit of that out, no hang ups unlike the big tops in the cherry...
  20. yeah i was just thinking about that today as i noticed the one in the workshop at college, would be a more practical tool with multiple uses
  21. theres a fair few bent bars in the shed that still have plenty of life left in them, we also have a 3pl patu stroke delimber, doesnt get used much, but the bar has been bent a few times on it, if they were a lot cheaper i would have one just because
  22. i looked at those on your old site ages ago, they look brillant! if funds allowed i would probably get one, i can see it being handy
  23. we've got a hiab bolted onto the back of a major, home made jobby not done by us its not very manourvable, cus its a a fair size crane on the back so this just stays in the yard, but it works very well! especially as we piped the grab and rotator in
  24. the best saw on an alaskan you say? well its not a big modern saw old saws will always rule for chainsaw milling, they have more torque for this sort of work Stihl 070 or 090, Sachs Dolmar 153 or 166 you cant go wrong
  25. ah i see i do love jobs like that
