  1. Did this tree a while back, only just got round to posting the pics Big Oak tree that we took down for a farmer, granddads had a lot of timber of this guy over the years Reason for felling is that a shed or building is to be built underneth or near where the tree was, i know that some of you will moan about removing a tree like this, just enjoy the pics I climbed the tree and knocked a big branch off the one side, first time is used a 440 up a tree Granddad fell it with the 070, love watching him work. Cleared the cord wood out with the major. Granddad then split the trunk with the 070, so it can be transported and to get it on the mill Was a good weekend

ahahaa cheers man we didnt do it the way they used to back in the day, which was just chucking a tyre under there, apparently they were the best for thawing out tractors but a few sticks and some rag did the job

the major froze up over the weekend.... granddad showed me an old trick.... start small fire underneath her, thawed her out nicely
  4. cheers man! Yeah saves using ramps and cant hooks Was a sweet job seen as though the timber is locally sourced (about 2 miles away ) then my cousin, and i'll probably help at some point is building the fence, again just up the road from where the timber was sourced, nice to see stuff used locally, well thats what i think anyway
  5. yeah man same really, we do a lot of through and through oak, but been doing alot of oak beams and various things like that for a barn conversions recently The softwood is always nice to do now and again though, easily to get on the mill, easy to move around my hand, cuts quickly, ideal! Wouldnt want to do it all the time though. Ah cheers man Im glad people like you enjoy looking at them
  6. Ah had a nice couple of few hours milling over the weekend Knocking up some nice sized softwoods for fencing materials to be used once tanalized Loading the mill with the old major and hiab, great fun
  7. never used a freelander, but if your looking along those lines, why not a disco? you can get one of them fairly cheap and they tow well
  8. nah man, farmers just use them as fence posts

  21. cheers tommer, yeah man its a beast i love it!!!! Need to get it out of the shed do some more work with her i've never used an 880 on a mill so i cant compare ahaha, its either this or a 153, i even had the 123 on there a while back doing some softwood from what i saw of you using the 880 at the apf it did look quicker, but i dont have a ripping chain for my 4ft or 3ft bars, so that does make it slower. Plus the 880 has more power, but may just have a bit less torque.
  22. Sorry, this episode is not currently available to watch on Demand Five.
  23. we do that sbut its easier wrapping an oily rag on a stick, ligthting that and throwing that into the fire but we wouldnt use 10 quids worth!!
