  1. don't know if any of you guys are metal fans? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGCn4IEv31Y&feature=related]YouTube - Machine Head Now I Lay Thee Down[/ame]
  2. Seems like a total waste of a climber if it was a large tree which has scope for two climbers to work the crown then thats all fine and dandy. but whats the point of having 2 on a pole? It takes what... 2mins to set everything up to waasss a top out, in that time the boyos on the ground can deal with the last load. I don't get it? enlighten me.........
  3. Worked for Mark Williams of fast show fame, was very tempted to say " oo does it suit you sir" but held my tongue. Worked on a property from grand designs aswell. Also did a job next to a property owned by Nicholas van Hoogstraten and dragged brash onto his side
  4. tommer im going to go the exact opposite and say go for a 'wolf. Regularly use a 150 and they are excellent machines for a small tree firm.
  5. Trousers man trousers! Pants will offer no protection against chainsaws:001_tongue:
  6. I've been a subbie for coming up to 3 years, it is very hit and miss. When i started i had about 5 firms wanting to use me, im now down to 3 main firms and sometimes someone else will want me for a day. Yet i've had more work this year than the other 2. If you know lots of people in the surrounding area it helps massively, networking is key. The more people that know your a soild and dependable worker the more your diary will fill. pros: The pay is generally better as a subbie than being empolyed You decide when/if you have time off great way to see how otherdo it vareity of work claim money back off tax Cons: you get injured/hurt money stops you don't always get paid on time/ever Everyone wants you on the same day double booking makes you look like an idiot different times/ places to meet everyday don't always get on with people more paperwork I freaking love it!
  7. theres a five letter word to describe people like that! Fly tipping really makes me angry.
  8. AHHHHH that massive banner at the top of every page you should make it more obvious someone might miss it. :withstupid:doh!
  9. I would suggest a heirarcy of common sense! how can someone with no knowledge of the job, check your kit and be responsible for you?
  10. so how exactly do i get involved?, where do i buy tickets, or do i just rock up? is there any/lots of paperwork? yadda yadda
  11. Just wanted to get some info from the guys in the know....meindl airsteams, are they any good? I'm currently using bog standard meindls.
  12. I personally found the tree magic to be a nut crusher, but don't let that put you off. Only heard good things about the sequoia, it's most likely my next harness, unless something shiny-er comes out.
  13. Been on a Vt with hitch climber for about a month and am really getting into it now, was abit werid to start with as its totally different than thrusting round on a prussik. Don't think i'd go back to basics its so much better, i'm noticing i'm faster aswell.
  14. It does look like alot of stuff. If you check out honey brothers website their tree motion pictures have tons of stuff on too. Is the tree motion primarily used by hoarders? I take the least i can, you can always get stuff sent up. All i take are cambium saver, strop/flipline and a small sling with a lowering carbabiner which gets used for all sorts.
  15. When i bought my Austria duo2 i set out certain criteria of things that it had to have. such as: Clips on waist and legs not having to put legs through leg loops optional seat good amount of attachment loops good adjustability nice paaded waist belt and it had to look pretty funky too narrowed my search down alot from the hoards that are out there.
  16. ditto but some jobs i do wish for one, mainly when im feeling lazy.
  17. 30% reduction, 120 quid. bish, bash, bosh! jobs a good'un.
  18. Jeez thats alot of kit. Hope that they can get back in the game quickly, and i hope the scum that did it get caught.
  19. What im trying to work out is what was the point of wearing a harness? he wasn't roped in and wasn't hanging the saw off it......fashion statement maybe? Clowns!
  20. I'd need a seperate profile for work related stuff, mines full of pictures of me off my tits or in fancy dress.
  21. Have one on my wirecore, its what i've always used so don't know any different. I do find it allows you to get closer to the stem. would quite fancy trying something new though.
  22. Had a quick butchers hook through a book today couldn't find anything. Don't think its sooty bark though. I've seen it quite regularly but not thought much of it before. Is it an old pollard which has been allowed to grow by any chance?
  23. Awesome pictures man, the ringing trio is very cool
  24. Thats abit of a beast. Looks like lots of swing action for those side limbs. Nice job!
  25. just means i need to buy something else to justify the postage costs:001_tt1:
