  1. Hello all, Im curently working as a self employed climber in North Wales, work is good and all is well but ie always wanted to move up to scotland so was wondering what the work situation would be for a self employed climber,is there much up there? Id be interested in doing forestry work too. Ive got relatives near Inverness so thats the area I would think about starting at. Only trying to get an idea for the moment but any info would be greatly appreciated! Cheers. Tom.

088, not the nicest of saws to be using up a tree...
  3. Ditto, im just starting my PGDip (to eventually be an MSc) in Forestry at Bangor (Distance learning) so I would be interested in knowing what career options it will open up, personally im hoping for a job at management level with maybe Tilhill or the FC (if their still about) or possiby consultancy. All I know is there isn't a great deal at the moment, I regularly check the Tihill website and Countryside Jobs Service to see whats about, but plenty of time I suppose. Keep us informed. Tom.
  4. Thanks for the email Pete thats a great help, seems ive put it back together right but no joy, i'll spend another hour tonight fiddling with and see what happens... Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated!
  5. Howdy all! Does anyone out there have a diagram to show the handle assembly on an MS200t? I took it apart to fix the earth wire which I soldered up and put it all back together but the saw still wont turn off using the switch, so would like to check ive put it back together rite or if its my dodgy repair. Cheers. Tom.
  6. What tractor is that? Is it a valtra? Tom.
  7. I use gladiators and I think there ace! Much cooler, plenty of movement and very tough. They are only class 'a' though. Tom.
  8. Haven't had a chance to take it to one side yet, the hydraulic oil is a tad low so will top that up firstly. Also the switch under the bonnet that stops you from starting the chipper when the bonnet is up looks knackered, we've got a spare one so will try fitting that as it may be a potential cause. A good service seems a good idea, but how often do you guys do a full service such as oil and filter? cos I thought they had plant engines which hold about 9 litres of oil and need changing rarely? Cheers for the suggestions, I will have to make time next week to try and sort it out, before it gets any worse! Tom.

  10. Howdy all! Having some trouble recently starting up the chipper, sometimes when it starts up it cuts out straight away and takes a few attemps to fire it up. Anyone else had this problem or has any suggestions? Also another problem is when turning the chipper left it struggles especially on low revs as if theres not enough power going to the track. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated as ever! Cheers. Tom.
  11. Ok so ive lost the bungs from the front of the exhaust:blushing: Is that going to be a problem?
  12. Brilliant, cheers guys, i'll give it a bash tommorrow. Much appreciated! Tom.
