  1. We decided today that considering even td5's only get 20mpg when working hard, and I want to get into the LEZ, that a V8 conversion could be the way to go...does anyone have any idea of the mpg V8s get under working conditions, and I mean the real figures not the rose tinted ones from People trying to justify it to themselves.
  2. Sounds nasty, since getting the plastic visor for my stein helmet I rarely get stuff in my eyes, specially that annoying fine dust when chogging down or cutting gobs in the tree that penetrates mesh visits like they aren't even there! I would never go back to using mesh now.
  3. Being an old 200 all towing appears heavy gotta be flat out to get anywhere fast.
  4. Hmmm 24-26 sounds much nicer! May have to buy one in the spring! Reckon I could get anywhere near that with some new injectors? I have no idea when they were replaced but I bet they're well beyond the interval!
  5. What sort of mph should I be getting on my 200tdi 110 tipper? Currently get between 14-18 MPG probably averaging out at about 16. Pulling a 935i or TT105 and fully loaded....is that right? What would a TD5 return under similar conditions? That's mixed local driving
  6. 30,31,38,39 are enough, then all you need is experience And lots of it. I your serious go and work for someone else first and learn how everything works and get an idea on pricing. Spending 20k on kit and training for an industry you know nothing of would not be wise.

    winch advice

I've Got a T-Max 6500 on my defender and its lifted and pulled some big stuff and has never lacked power, so 12500 should be fine.
  8. Simple sycamore takedown fairly straightforward nice yard to drop stuff in, but half of it was overhanging neighbouring gardens and the library
  9. I use ex-army goretex have had the same sets for at least two years still going strong been used for tree surgery motocross and all sorts dead rough breathable and dry, cheap too.
  10. Life proof I think they're called slimmer than otter box etc but better, they're even water proof check them out in you tube
  11. No, but its irrelevant. that's their job I do mine if they wanna go and kill people they should climb the ladder and get attached to specialised units who have more brutal rules if engagement. However as one was arrested at home and had his computer seized, which is how the whole lot came to light this goes a long way towards showing the type of character that one is.
  12. If they cat act professionally and control their emotions they must be punished, simples. They signed up for it so they should like it.
  13. Great trucks much better than transit of same age, some have a stupidly low tank though which means you can't back onto even the tamest of sloped drives etc. but as with all 3.5t tippers it has no payload so I upgraded to a landy
  14. I did some very quick sums the other night and came to a figure of £56 per day based on 220 days wages not included.
  15. Might be useful to say where you need this team.
  16. Stihl ones are nice and solid, expensive but you get what you pay for all the threads are very robust and the plastic is thick, no spill caps are a must have too IMO
  17. Stihl, but before that lots of different left over MX oils
  18. Anyone got a picture of a 6BT in a defender? Those engines we huge the bay of my old Dodge was well occupied by one they must be crammed in on the landy, and very front heavy!
  19. If they got it in writing as a sensible person would its all on the TO surely ?
  20. Big saws are making top money at the moment, that's why I got the 660 new, anything from old 066 to haggard looking 05s fetching £6-700 great time to sell!
  21. Someone I did a lot of work for had one and it was heavy and bulky and didn't seem to deliver power as well as 660s I have used. I am generally a Stihl man but genuinely believe the 660 is a better saw. I would like a 365 though nice half way saw between a 361 and 441.
  22. Isit just me or have log prices down this season a few people advertising by me now selling builders bags for £50 last year I was selling these for £75....that's a if big cut
