  3. Pros are he will always be with you 5 days a week or whatever the contract stipulates, which is invaluable. Cons- employers NI contributions kick in at 10% ish when an employee earns over £642 a month Holiday pay, sick pay, paternity leave etc Provision of PPE However if e deal is worked correctly you should pay him proportionately less to account for the fact that he isn't handling/ paying for all of the above and also the added security if being employed. The hardest part is explaining the last paragraph to the plastic 'labour only' self employed WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
  4. I say that's likely true of the cheap remoulded being mentioned in here, but a set of BFG MTs will last for ages on Tarmac. Mine still have plenty of tread left after a year and imagine will still be serviceable at the end of next, they to off road a lot too. WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
  5. Yes, can be filled with sand hardcore whatever no problem, has gears to handle load on slopes or travel long distances at a jogging pace WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
  6. Yes, can be filled with sand hardcore whatever no problem, has gears etc to handle load on slopes WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
  7. Most common issue is operator error, learn to turn on the move lifting the front with the bucket and skewing round to assist the turn and take load off the tracks, minimises damage to the ground too. Failing that it could be one of the many mechanical issues listed. WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk

  14. If your half decent with spanners get an old Vermeer rarely go wrong and easy to fix when they do, otherwise financing a new one could be a bit dear as your not only doing Arb work. WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
  15. Sold a 18x8 Ash ring for £20 last week, to be used as a wedding cake stand! WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
  16. One of many jobs easily win due to the landy would have taken 4 men to get this done with a transit and chipper at the road but with the landy reversing the chipper down onto the loose soil over the pile of rubble and stumps etc was no problem and the job was comfortably completed with two of us, getting close is invaluable IMO and my L200 wouldn't have got there! WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk

  22. I agree with 18stoner and Tom 100% i have a Perkins engined one its the 2nd chipper I've owned and I see no reason to upgrade in the foreseeable future, it is an absolute beast. As mentioned earlier in the thread snedding is a thing of the past, if you can carry it to the machine it will usually go through one way or another. Amazing in conifer jobs as the 9x13 opening will swallow nearly all the logs if need be also handy for dirty ivy covered rubbish, just push it in and it swallows it hole or tears the ivy off before taking the stick. Great machines and people seem to struggle to get more than £5k for them of late. WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
  23. Get some 32 grade hydraulic oil, although 30 shouldn't hurt. WM Tree Services http://www.bestkenttreesurgeons.co.uk
